Guys, I liked this book. A lot. I had read a short story set in this universe in Kiss Me, Kill Me (review) and I liked it enough to snap this one up when it briefly popped up as a free Kindle download.

So what made it so enjoyable? Well, that's a good question. I liked Bea. She has that whole moneyed lady thing going for her until you realize that she's led an isolated, lonely life. Plot:
Leo and Ella, the couple we met in Wild Heart is back, well sort of back. They went to India in search of a statue, and answers. With them went Leo’s cousin Bea. The book starts with a bang, Bea in her room when a stranger appears, Ella’s cousin Colin. And they are in for a rocky start, she dislikes him and he thinks she is so English, all prim and proper. But soon they all must leave. There is danger concerning the statue and they are not the only ones looking. Little by little Bea and Colin are brought closer and closer together.

My thoughts:
It was fun to see Leo and Ella again, even if they were just introduced before they went away. This is Colin and Bea’s book after all. Colin is all American; he is used to being on his own and always moving around. Not to mention that just like his cousin, he too has a power, one hard to believe. Bea is nice, innocent, and she questions things a lot. But soon she sees the beauty of India and becomes quite the adventurer. They are so very different from each other, but thrown together in a time of turmoil they find comfort in each other.

This is a paranormal romance, and the paranormal comes from that Colin, and Ella have got powers. And as it shows in this book they are not the only ones. The statue they look for is supposed to hold riches, and a key to this is are the rings that they have in their possession, or had.

One does not have to read Wild Heart to understand Wild Desire; it starts as its own book and explains the things that need to be explained to follow along. Of course it’s more fun to know what happened back in England with Ella and Leo, and how this whole journey got started.

Colin is a sweetheart, he may not even act like that, but his heart is so big, and I realize how big after reading on. He is also very wounded by the past. Bea may be different in the way she acts but she also has wounds, from being exiled to Scotland with her grandmother. For them to be together seems impossible, she is destined to marry a man of wealth and title, and he has nothing. And there is the desire, it’s wild, and it gets only wilder as you read on.

Recommendation and final thoughts:
This book is all it promised to be, it has passion, adventure as they escape through India, danger, evil villains that only wants power and money, and a couple who doesn’t know how on earth they will stand each other in the beginning.

In all fairness I have to say this before you read my review. I read this 548 page book on my computer and I normally stick with novellas or a book around 300 pgs. So because of the length I am afraid it has affected my reading and reviewing of this book. I can only sit on my chair and read for so long then I am antsy and want to move on, so please keep this in my while reading this review.

Free Kindle download. I really liked the unusual setting of India in this one, and it's a combination historical paranormal action romance, or whatever. I liked the amount of all those elements —it felt right, and the story was engaging. I even liked the characters, their personalities, their chemistry together, the balance of their strengths and weaknesses.

This is a historical paranormal romance book in which we start off with the stoic, prudish Englishwoman and an 'out of the gate' mishap with her being naked and a gorgeous man in her room. Wild Desire was a slow start for me. However, within a few chapters, I found myself warming to the characters and wondering where this story was going to go.

I really enjoyed Wild Desire. Unlike the first installment, which takes place in cold and dreary England, Wild Desire takes you to the jungles of India. India is extremely varied in its landscapes. In town it’s all dust and brown, dirty. In the jungles the scenery is lush, alive and humming with activity. The descriptions of the temples will make your imagination light up with thought. Lori makes you feel like you’re on a Indiana Jones adventure. Complete with treasure and steamy scenes. The attraction between Bea and Colin is HOT HOT HOT. That man has some serious restraint. Though the book takes place in the mid 1800′s and Colin IS a gentleman at heart. Though he is most certainly a wounded gentleman. His hang up on his ex has his brain completely clouded and until he finally sees Bea for who she truly is… not a copy of his ex…he will never be able to move on. I wanted to thump him several times for not realizing why he was having issues admitting his feelings to Bea.

I love historical romance. Everything seems so chivalrous back then. When a man would treat a lady like a princess and worry about her “reputation”. Colin is the picture of a strong, misunderstood man who wants nothing more than to give in to the temptation that is Bea. In most books I don’t want my female lead to be weak. But in a historical romance I forgive such ideas unless the story calls for the female to take charge. Bea begins the story as a proper lady and morphs into a head strong, brave woman by the end. The transformation was a page turner.

Wild Desire will sweep you up in a whirlwind journey across a distant land…leaving nothing in its wake but rubble, shattered misconceptions and emotional scars. If you want a steamy historical romance with action and just a smidge of paranormal…Lori Brighton is your go to author!

I honestly found myself panting and struggling to catch my breath through the entire book and it wasn’t just because the hero, Colin Fitch was irresistibly sexy in his cocky, self assured manner. Continuing the story from Wild Heart, WILD DESIRE took me on a rollercoaster ride that strongly resembled a historical Indiana Jones movie as Colin and Bea are thrust together for a danger filled adventure. Don’t let the “Indiana Jones” comparison confuse you, for as much action that this story captures, it balances just as strongly a sensual mixture of tension and passion that made this the PERFECT read for me. Honestly, I would’ve been quite content to sit and read this forever because it had me completely engrossed. By far, WILD DESIRE is my favorite read from Lori to date.

The story kicks off with a scandalous meeting late into the night as Bea is rudely interrupted by the drunken appearance of a man in her room. These things were just not proper and what makes it even more mortifying for this prim and proper woman is that she is completely naked; having decided that bathing could alleviate the dreadful heat of India. Unsure of the “societal” correct way to deal with the situation, worse leads to worst when she finds herself tangled in netting and underneath the very masculine, hard, arousing body of her late night intruder. Bea is horrified by her reaction but even more so when she discovers the mystery man is in fact the man she, Leo and Ella have come to India to see – Colin Fitch. After the introductions and an attack on the home, Bea doesn’t think to highly of him, judging him a cad and coward and the feeling is mutual. Colin takes one look at Bea and instantly labels her a pampered, cold, arrogant woman so naturally the sparks begin to fly as he sets out to goad and bait her at every turn. What makes for interesting reading becomes more exciting as events unfold at a startling rate. Everyone is together because they’re searching for a mystical statue said to hold such power should it fall into the wrong hands, the end of the world would follow.

Colin and Bea are key players in the search for this treasure, both holding powers – Colin with his gift to heal and Bea with power of her blood. When riots break out, Colin, Bea, Ella and Leo have no choice but to flee and much to the horror of Bea, she is forced to separate from the party and journey with Colin… alone. They go from dangerous moment to dangerous moment as she watches Colin suffer from periods of weakness after miraculous healings to her own near death experience to being followed and almost killed by treasure hunters also after the statue. But amongst all the action and despite their struggles to fight against their growing attraction, Bea discovers passion in Colin’s embrace and Colin… well he discovers that Bea is just too tempting to resist. Heated kisses, longing glances and a room filled with erotic images and statues stir an already smoldering flame higher until both couples are left wondering – where will their adventure lead them? What will happen when the statue is found? And will they be strong enough to put their wild desire first despite their doubts and fears of what society thinks? This is seriously edge of your seat reading!

I have to say that the chemistry between Colin and Bea had me positively glowing from beginning to end because for me, it was just so intense. I’m a sucked for good sexual tension. I want to be seduced right alongside with the heroine and from the very second Colin’s lips touched Beas I was GONER! This couple was so much fun to read because they were constantly feeding off each other, whether it was snarky comments, flirtations, sexual innuendos or tender moments where they opened up to each other. I never knew what I was going to get from moment to moment but one thing for sure was there was a constant source of passion between them and watching them come to terms with what their attraction meant for the future had me grinning from ear to ear. They’ve definitely become a memorable couple for me and one I can’t think about without having that little hitch in my stomach and extra beat of my heart.

I loved Bea. She had a real fire about her and I couldn’t help laughing at the way she reacted towards Colin. Honestly, I don’t know how women back in those times didn’t go positively bonkers from ENDLESS source of rules and restrictions plied upon them. I like the freedom to be able to do what I want, when I want to and Bea reached a point where she liked it also. Standing naked in a room with a sexy albeit drunk stranger would lead me to make one of two decisions – either get him naked too or kick his butt out of the room. I chuckled over Bea wondering what the “proper” etiquette would be in making an introduction when there was no one there to do it for her. Like a quick “Hi I’m Bea” wasn’t acceptable. Bea was thrown into such chaotic events that defied everything she’d ever known and believed and I have to say she handled it with style and grace, dealing with the situations head on without falling apart in a fit of vapors. I especially loved watching her explore her feelings when she found herself in a room filled with erotic statues and artwork and fighting her overwhelming need to throw herself at Colin and give in to her desire. She was a great mixture of strength, innocence and sass!

Oh. My. Gosh. Yes, Colin is one of THOSE men, the ones that the very second he’s introduced and you get a good look at him, your knees are weak, you’re slightly panting and you’re wondering where on your body you can have his name tattooed. This man was GLORIOUS in every way possible and each time he called Bea “Darlin’” my body would erupt with the chills. But Colin wasn’t just delicious man candy. Nope he had depth as well and showed great emotion. I loved watching him battle his attraction to Bea. He wanted her so bad, he burned for her but to be with her would ruin her so he fought the temptation. He hadn’t lived a charmed life. Because of his incredible gift to heal people, he was on constant guard from those who would take advantage of him or seek to destroy him. He knew no peace, he was always on the move and it was the last thing he wanted for Bea. Feeling he had nothing to offer her, he tried to rein in his passion but bad for him, good for me and Bea, he wasn’t able to. This led to some incredibly HOT moments between the couple that had me an ooey gooey mess. There was a scene towards the end of the story that at first glimpse had me wondering “Oh no Colin don’t do it!” But the emotion, the energy, the pain that came off him left me a little stunned and I wanted to cry for him because he felt he needed to prove that point. *sigh* Everything about him was just so good and for me he made the perfect hero – flaws and all.

Without hesitation, I’d recommend this book and although you could read it as a stand alone, I say start with Wild Heart first just because it gives you a wider scope of the storyline. There’s a great sense of adventure through the book and I loved that it was so easy to get caught up in. It was exactly the kind of reading experience I look for in a book and it left me buzzing to see what the author has in store for us next. Lori Brighton is an amazing author. WILD DESIRE makes this her fourth book I’ve devoured and it was just as addicting, if not more. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy. Happy reading!

This was a free download for nook. I have to say I'm not a big fan of "sexy time" romances. Generally, they are firmly in my "guilty pleasure/quick time-killer" column, and when I do read them, I usually don't find them worth reviewing or sharing. The hunt for the statues is now more important than ever.

Colin, like his cousin, has an ability that although very useful is often exploited by those around him. Bea is the prim, proper, innocent English woman who doesn’t believe in magic and is unprepared for such a grand adventure. That soon changes when they are separated from their cousins and their lives are in peril. Despite the animosity between them, Colin and Bea had to learn to trust each other. That trust is what eventually lead to an intense love affair. This being my first book in this series, it took me some time to figure out that there are supernatural elements to Colin and Bea’s story, like there were in Leo and Ella’s.

I enjoyed getting to know Colin and Bea’s characters. I especially admired Bea’s growth over the course of the story. She was introduced as the nearly perfect English miss, but by the end of the story she was quite the adventurer gallivanting across India and fighting evil villains. Colin was a bag of mixed emotions. He was rude and short-tempered, but was actually very kind-hearted and somewhat insecure. He was frustrating because he was so closed-off and resisted his growing feelings for Bea. Luckily, he more than made up for his evident disinterest with a sweet and surprising ending.

My favorite element about this story was not just the budding romance, but the adventures and situations that Colin and Bea would find themselves in. From being chased down back alleys to hiding in an ancient sarcophagus or being saved from plummeting to their death over a cliff, there was no shortage of suspense and action.

Lori Brighton’s Wild Desire is an 18th century, supernatural and romantic version of Indiana Jones and it was all the more fun for it. I really enjoyed it and look forward to backtracking and reading Leo and Ella’s story too. (less)

When I first began reading "Wild Desire" i thought it would just be another easy to read historical romance novel, which I do usually love. I was however greatly surprised as I read farther into the book to find it was not just another opposites attracts romance, but had a surprising story line. I have not read "Wild Heart" the book before this one, but I soon will be reading that book as well.

This was the second book in the series, I hadn’t read the first when I started this, but while I’m sure it would’ve filled in more of the background of the story, Wild Desire was okay as a standalone read. That being said, I’m now going to go back and read the first one, (Wild Heart).

This was a lot of fun, kind of what you might get if you crossed Indiana Jones with a romance novel. Lots of swashbuckling adventure and swoony romance.

I liked both of the characters, they were well developed. Bea isn’t your typical shrinking violet, she’s innocent about much of what goes on in the world, but at the same time she wants to get out there and have adventures. I enjoyed her headstrong nature and her pluckiness. She was a fun character to get to know.

Colin is rather lovely as well, a little bit anti-hero, in the beginning he’s more interested in finding the treasure he’s after. But as the story progresses and Bea and Colin grow closer his priorities change. He’s very much the ‘man’, cocky, stubborn and he quite likes to push Bea’s buttons.

I love when the two of them first meet - he’s rolling drunk and she’s buck nekkid! The main characters have great chemistry together and I really enjoyed the way they bounced off one another, whether it was in teasing or flirting. Both characters have been hurt in the past, so it was great to see them deal with what held them back and move forward in their relationship. I started this on the plane heading to ARRC2011 and I spent the whole plane trip cackling like a crazy lady – all signs of a good book in my mind.

There’s lots of lovely tension between the couple, one scene that springs to mind is when Colin and Bea get caught up in a street riot, and Colin has to cut Bea’s corset off – just mmm wow! Smoldering comes to mind and when their consummation scene finally comes around – hells bells, it was sexy, sweet and heartbreaking all at the same time.

One thing I didn’t expect was the paranormal theme running through it and to be honest it doesn’t take over the whole story, it’s only hinted at in the beginning, if anything it added to the adventure and danger that Colin and Bea were in. It isn’t mentioned at all in the blurb and I only found out ahead of time because I’d read another bloggers review of the book. The paranormal element is explored through Colin’s back story as the novel progresses. I would assume if you were reading this after the first book, there would be more knowledge of the paranormal side of things, but as I said earlier, it doesn’t detract from the story as a standalone or if you’re reading them out of order. If you don’t usual read paranormal, this would be a great introduction to it. The story at its heart is a historical romance, but it has lots of adventure and the paranormal helps to complete the novel.

The only thing I don’t think gelled was the use of some of the language, towards the end Colin swears – shit, I think – nothing too out there, but it didn’t seem to fit with the story and on occasion Bea used ‘British’ insults and it seemed that these were only used because the character was from England. Nobody else may think anything of this but I know as an Aussie, people think we talk like Alf from Home & Away – think gratuitous use of cobber, stone the flaming crows, maaate, or you could listen to any number of Kevin Rudd’s speeches – he used slang quite a bit. It kind of pulled me out of the story a bit, but it was the swearing more so.

Overall, this was so much fun to read and I’m really looking forward to reading Wild Heart. It was a fun, easy read, perfect for my holiday and it really set the tone for my holiday – lots of fun and adventure. It’s a great historical romance and I really enjoyed the paranormal elements of the story.

Ella and Leo aren't really in India to visit Colin~they are there to stop Ella's evil cousin Henry from getting his hands on a very powerful statue that is said to have magical powers.

The guy who is after Colin to get information just won't stop, and they assume (correctly) that he is working for Henry. The four are forced to leave Colins house and attempt to escape to Bombay where Leo's friend Ashkay is. Of course the trip to Bombay doesn't go quite as planned...the four are forced to take the journey there a part, and Bea finds herself stuck with Colin. She's not happy about it, because she still thinks Colin is a coward and doesn't know how on Earth he'll be able to protect him. Colin isn't too happy about being stuck with Bea either. She reminds him too much of his former fiancee-too strict and proper. Along the way to catch up to Leo and Ella, the two have one adventure after another. Seriously-the action doesn't stop! They are chased by lots of bad guys who are after the statue, and have lots of escapes getting away from them. Bea and Colin eventually begin to see that they might just be wrong about the first impression they had of each other. They try fight the attraction they have to each other, but are unable to resist it.

What I loved most about these two is that they are both really strong, and refuse to give into their weaknesses. Bea is tired of being timid, and wants to prove to herself that she can keep up with Colin. She regrets leaving her old life behind lots of times, but realizes she'll never have another chance to have an adventure like this again, and toughs it out with the best of them. Bea is also tired of not having answers. She knows that the others are hiding something from her-and is determined to figure out what it is. Once she discovers Colin's secret, she can't quite wrap her head around it then (eventually) admires him for it.
Colin is such a sigh worthy hero. He's a bit of a jerk, but underneath is someone who has just been hurt a lot, and Bea forces him to look at things in a different light.

A lot of times when the mystery of the book is revealed early, I get bored with the story being told. However, such isn't the case here. There are so many twists and turns to the story that you never know what is coming next. In the beginning of the book, I was afraid that Leo and Ella, the stars of the last book, would be around too much and Bea and Colin's story would be lost in theirs, but that isn't the case at all. Ella and Leo are around just enough to refresh what happened in the last book, which I was happy about because I had forgotten more then I realized, and then disappear so that Bea and Colin can have their own story. Wild Desire made me remember why I fell in love with the historical romaance genre, and I loved the touch of paranormal elements to it.

After the adventures of Leo and Ella in Wild Heart, I was pleasantly surprised when this fast paced, Indiana Jones-esque story took me on a journey through India and at times I swore I was in the bug infested jungles with Colin and Bea. Lori Brighton does romance like no other. I love the paranormal aspects to the Wild Series which is historical as well.

I have to wonder if there will be more books in this series after the short story, Wild Passion, if not I will have to resort to begging and ple...more

I actually quite enjoyed this book. Another free Kindle offering and I wasn't expecting much since Amazon reviewers seemed to hate Bea for being weak and stupid. I didn't find her weak or stupid at all. She was a bit naive and had, at times, a "lalalala can't hear you" approach to the paranormal bits but it made sense in the book that she behaved that way. She was brave and strong when it counted and she didn't give Colin an inch when it came to what she wanted.

This was a fun little escapist romance. Actually it was a fun little parody of an escapist romance, with every cliche of the genre thrown into the mix--kind of like an Indiana Jones or Romancing the Stone movie. I could easily imagine Kathleen Turner's Joan Wilder character writing this book, except nobody got their Bible stolen.

I liked this book, I enjoy thriller/mystery/romance type books, I hate the cover and I'm glad I was reading it on my Kindle.
A bit of sex near the end and lots of almost sex in the rest. I think I will be reading this author again now that I realize this is book two in a series. I will be passing this book along to friends now that I'm finished.

Despite some formatting issues with the kindle version this is a great free read from an author I first read as part of the kiss me, kill me anthology. I'm not normally a fan of romance, but it seemed like a good escape from reality. Plus, it encompassed a bit of the paranormal aspects that I adore.

Wild Desire was a joy to read. I am a fan of Ms. Brighton and this story did not disappoint. It is filled with passion, magic, adventure and romance. If you like historical romances, this is a book you want. If you like paranormal romances, again, this is a book you want.
