A Children's Book Council of Australia short-listed book and I do agree, it pinpoints classic Australian 'scapes': big rivers, trees standing on the plains, billowing grasslands, a patchwork of suburban rooftops, waves that pound beaches and make patterns with driftwood and shells, modern city lights like a jeweled necklace adorning an ancient landscape, twisted trees of the bushland scrub, light shining through rainforest trees, rocky crags of snowy mountains, the vast desert sky, and watery li...more
I am in love with Bronwyn Bancroft as an author illustrator. Her illustrations show me something different each time I read her books. I can't wait to reread this after visiting Australia.
