Amelia, daughter of divorced parents, struggles with the splitting of holidays between mom and dad. Her Halloween plans have to change when her dad cancels their weekend together. Amelia has a very different night than what she planned, due in part to the scary movie her hip, young aunt allows Amelia and her friends to watch. Amelia is disappointed when her dad has to cancel their Halloween weekend together. Thanks to her Aunt Tanner, she and her friends still have a blast. This is my first introduction to Amelia. I will definitely introduce these graphic novels to my students.

Jimmy Gownley is the author and illustrator of the Amelia Rules! series of graphic novels, as well as the memoir The Dumbest Idea Ever!.

He has been nominated for 13 Eisner awards and 6 Harvey awards. His book Superheroes won the 2006 Cybil Award for best graphic novel for kids 12 and under.

He lives in Pennsylvania.
