One taste of her lips, and friendship is off the menu.

Kate has always been everybody’s friend and the de-facto little sister to the Wyatt brothers. But her feelings for Todd Wyatt, the town’s hottest firefighter, run far beyond the sibling variety. Not that he’s ever noticed.

After years of nursing her crush, Kate decides it’s time to take action. Except she has one awkward...more

Flash Point (Holding Out for A Hero #3)
by Shelli Stevens

If you have NOT read books 1, Going Down, and 2, Command and Control, of this series, WHY HAVEN”T YOU!?! Oh, for goodness sakes, you must read the first two so you can meet the two older brothers to our Flash Point hero, Todd Wyatt and his cupcake dealer, Kate.

Kate is local home town girl who has been a friend to the Wyatt family forever, and has had a crush on Todd for almost that long. Owning a successful bakery in town, she stays busy te...more

Todd is the walking talking version of every woman's wet dream in the town of Wyattsville. He's a firefighter and the youngest of the Wyatt brothers, but since the two oldest are now married this also means Todd is the most eligible bachelor. His womanizing ways haven’t gone unnoticed in the small town and women usually know the score when they decide to hop into bed with him, but lately his thoughts have become occupied with naughty images of the local bakery owner. Todd knows the score where K...more

Score Sheet Summary:

Flash Point is a novella that I have been meaning to read for quite sometime. Almost a year to the date that it was first published, I managed to find some time to squeeze this novella in between some of my heavy reads and I enjoyed the escape that Shelli Stevens provided with this red-hot novella which combines elements of friends turning into lovers with a hero who is commitmen...more

After reading the first two books in this series I was eager to see how Shelli Stevens was going to pull off a story with the sweet, innocent cupcake making queen Katie and the local town hottie, bad boy firefighter Todd Wyatt.

Kate’s had a major crush on the youngest Wyatt for a number of years and while she isn’t exactly the type to sleep around (ummm try like never), that’s all Todd does...plays musical beds like it’s an Olympic sport. Not exactly something to be proud of, yet it’...more

After reading Shelli Stevens' Negligee Behavior , which I really recommend, I was very excited to read her backlist. Negligee Behavior is her foray into mainstream romance, but I was aware that all her previous work was classified as erotica / romantica. Frankly, after reading Flash Point, I was a little surprised by that, because it didn't seem anymore erotic or sexy than some other novellas I've read which are considered contemporary romance stories. There was some sizzle, but I've read hotter...more

I spotted the villain from the very first mention. If you're gonna write a suspense subplot SS, you should at least make it marginally suspenseful.

I just needed to get that off my chest.

The romance portion of this book was OK. However there was no epilogue. I hate abrupt endings in general, and this was no different. The guy's family made a big deal about him not dating Kate. An epilogue would have served the purpose of seeing how well they now accept this about-face in their brother, from playb...more

I know some tropes last forever, but the "20-plus yr-old virgin who seduces her best friend who happens to be the town man-whore with a heart of gold that was broken by a slut" is getting sort of meh.

I missed a book somewhere in the series it looks like, because I didn't see where these two were friends, so I didn't see why it was taboo for them to be dating.

The sex scenes were very hot and I liked that Kate wasn't a size 0 and both she and Todd were great with it. I wish I'd liked the rest of t...more

Really good story... all the way til the end and then, the Author did something that is a 'deal-breaker' for me... SHE ENDED ABRUPTLY!

.. not even a bloody epilogue!

So disappointed in the last book of this series, because "I do love me some HEA'S" (which this had), but I felt ripped off!

The pairing I was most excited to read, and I think I cringed the most in this book. The errors in all three of these were ridiculous considering they're published by a reputable publishing company (wrong use of their/there, incorrect names used in several different spots, wrong words, missed words, etc). Besides that, this book was entirely too predictable to me. No excitement, no suspense, though Todd was probably the hottest of the three in terms of the bedroom. Now if only he'd stop calling...more

The best book of the series. Would've been perfect if it hadn't ended so abruptly, or if it had an epilogue.

Todd is the youngest (28?) of the Wyatt brothers of small town Wyattsville, Oregon. Sexy Todd's a firefighter, and to put it bluntly--a man-whore. For reasons that have to do with a woman from his past, Todd doesn't do relationships. A night or two in his bed is all you'll get from Todd, and then it's on to the next woman (or as older brother Tyson crudely put it:

"It's been a week, Todd. S...more

This one is the best of the three in this series. I think of all the story lines I liked this one the best... And for a novella the character development is very good, manly because you get to know the Hero and Heroin in the previous 2 books. I have to say this one is a good short steamy read. I would have loved for it to be longer

This was a fast read. I was anxious to read it since I recently completed books 1&2. I gave it 4 stars because the book was kind of predictable. I also must admit that I don't care for the girl has crush on bff who is clueless. I enjoyed books 1&2 better. All in all it was a good quick read.

Well the third Wyatt brother certainly did not disappoint... another hot steamy ride on the Wyatt train and I enjoyed it... All 3 books went quick.. I read them back to back in about two days. All three could easly be read in one afternoon with no distractions. I enjoyed them all

I loved this story. It was predictable but so good! I also like the fact that he didn't immediately know she was a virgin - because in the real world it's not typically very obvious. The tension and rescue were perfect. It's not the most complex story ever, but I'd read it again.

Another excellent offering by Shelli Stevens. I love a story with hunky firefighters and stories about friends becoming lovers so adding them together made for a satisfying read. Add in the tension from her "admirer" and you've got all the elements of a great story.
Brenda
This is a fun romance about a cake maker and a fire fighter who've always been friends, but things start getting a little steamy once he realizes she's all grown up and ready for some fun. There is also a bit of suspense that adds a lot to the story.
Katie
Slightly disappointed end to this short series. The writing was good, just didn't hook me as much as the first two did. I'd hoped for more between Kate and Todd after years of build-up.
Tia
I have to admit I like the virgin type book and this one is like childhood unrequited love. It was sweet how it carried into adulthood and how the hero has such a protective nature of her.
Kate
I loved this book from start to finish! Who couldn't fall in love with Todd and Kate? Such a cute couple! And damn, they had hot chemistry!

My only complaint is that the book wasn't longer!
Kjen
Nice little short hot read...Really liked both characters. Loved watching Todd's transformation back into a monogamous guy. Have read the other two in the series, as well.
Nichole
Enjoyed this. Todd and Kate were great together and the mystery/thriller to it was good. This was awesome and well-written for being short.
Shh I'm reading!
A quick read on my recent vacation. No moments that made me shiver with delight, but nothing that made me want to kick anybody either.

Great book but was Hoping for a little more. The beginning was wonderful but the book ended very abruptly. But still enjoyable .

Hot. HOT. HAWT stuff. I can sure see why this book gained Ms. Stevens the title of NYT Bestseller! Awesome stuff

I enjoyed this book very much. Shelli is a master at weaving steamy scenes into a well-developed story--Yowza!

VERY GOOD HOT STEAMY READ, 3RD IN THE (HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO SERIES). PREDICTABLE BUT ENJOYABLE.

3.75 stars. I really like this series. For this one, I like that Todd acknowledged he was a man-whore and the reason why, and that he eventually shared that with Kate. And I liked that he didn't let weks go by before he realized he loved Kate and wanted to be with her.

I liked Kate as well. She was independent and fun, as well as sweet.

I totally could have done without the suspense/stalkery plot, but thankfully it was a very small part of the story, and the rest was thoroughly enjoyable.

Shelli is a New York Times Bestselling Author who read her first romance novel when she snatched it off her mother's bookshelf at the age of eleven. One taste and she was forever hooked. It wasn't until many years later that she decided to pursue writing stories of her own. By then she acknowledged the voices in her head didn't make her crazy, they made her a writer.

“[Todd] “There isn’t a woman I’m trying to impress with baking. I made that up.”
Kate frowned, stilling in her efforts to free herself. “Why did you say that then?”
“Damn it, to keep this from happening.” His head blocked out the light as it dipped, and then his mouth crashed down on hers.
Shock ripped through her as his lips masterfully parted hers, his tongue plunging inside to taste her.”

“She teetered to catch her balance, but his arm still held her, kept her from falling. And then his mouth crashed down on hers and her balance went wonky for other reasons.
Kate clutched his shoulders and moaned, parting her lips to his fierce kiss. The smell of his familiar, spicy cologne filled her senses. His tongue explored every inch of her mouth, his hands roving over her body. It was deliberate. A man staking his claim. Every female instinct inside of her could sense it.”
