I loved this book, It is " small" but so well written. I met the author, too, she was a friend of somebody at my book club. The stories- the British Communist Party in the fifties and the First War story mingled well and it is one of the books I always reccomend to people!

This was an indeed small, but very exciting book. The history of the preceived or real deserters in the WW1, the history of the British Communist party coping with news of 1956 Hungarian uprising, the book was very well written and unusual.
We read it at my book club and we all liked it.
