And what about love?
Space is big. And dark. And light. And empty. And lonely.

But, it turns out, we're all in space. All the time. Even here on Earth!

Mind-blowing, isn't it?

Hachimaki, the hero of our story, is trying to get on the Jupiter mission so he can come back a hero and make a lot of money so he can buy his own ship. But even as he works to make the cut, those eco-terrorists are at it again. Blowing things up to save er.. something.

At least in this volume, it feels like the story is starting to go somewhere.

Loving the series. Tanabe is annoying me so much though, I just wish she communicated her thoughts differently and not so assertively. She acts as if she runs everything, which was agonizing to read. The character development is great. The authour no longer jumps from time to time so drastically which is nice.
Planetes-sarjan toisessa osassa tarina pääsee vauhtiin. Tarinan päähenkilöksi tarkentuva Hachimaki kärsii erakkosyndroomasta ja valmistautuu pakkomielteisesti ensimmäisen miehitetyn Jupiter-lennon miehistön valintakokeisiin. Avaruuden vapausrintama sabotoi lennon valmisteluja ja luo omanlaista jännitettä Hachin ja hänen ystäviensä elämään. Sattuman oikusta Hachin aiempi työkaveri ja nahistelukumppani romunkeräyslennolta pääsee Hachin ihon alle ja jää kytemään Hachin mieleen.

Our protagonist Hachimaki is getting close to achieving his dream. He is on his way to a high-profile mission to Jupiter, which would launch his career as a true astronaut. He could finally say goodbye to cleaning space debris on the orbit. But political conflicts might get in his way when a terrorist attack sabotages the mission.

This story doesn't move ahead at full steam, at least not yet, but Makoto Yukimura does amazing work with his characters. The dialog is spot on, the pacing beautiful an

Chapter 9 read like a conventional manga and stood out as just not as good as the rest of the series so far. Chapter 9 has a different tone, more comedic, and some jarring logic, such as the leader of the space terrorists seemingly reforming after seeing someone else get kissed. Thankful, the rest of the book doesn't read like a conventional manga and gets back to the more realistic tone that makes this manga better than the majority.
good continuation of the series.
Expands the characters and adds depth.
I liked it less than the first volume but it is still a great story.
