To Kill A Mockingbird is the story of a young naiive southern girl named Scout, who, despite her view of her peaceful, nice society, experiences the cruelty of early 20th century American discrimination. She is exposed to racism through her fellow residents of her hometown, Maycomb, which she believed to be respectable people. She also learned that in her society as well as American society as a whole, when it comes to social class, the white middle class people are first followed by the white p...more

Atticus Finch was a good model of moral integrity, and I plan on giving a WWAFD approach to my future decision making.

I find it so painful to try to wrap my head around why people get on the way they do, and choose to disapprove of a certain "type" of people, and treat them so unfairly- women, homosexuals, non-white races. Even while attempting to go through the actions of just, moral, and fair decision making- such as the court system- bias and prejudice prevail. People seem to be very selectiv...more

This book was assigned during my 9th grade intro to lit./ comp. class. It has five stars because it does a spectacular job of showing the changes of a young chiild through their upbringing.

An absolute work of art. So sad that Harper Lee didn't write anymore books. I loved the characters. They were so real. And the moral message was perfect. Loved this read.

I didn't like this book at all in high school. I must say it says alot that I now think this book was "ok" after reading it again. This book epitomizes why I will never live in the south or a po-dunk town.

One classic that is so readable, with such a great message. Haven't read it for years but well worth a second read. Highly recommend

This was my first reading of TKAM and I loved it. The reviews all proved to be true. The characters, writing style and the way Lee conveys the message of the book makes for a brilliant read. Highly recommended :-)

I have read and loved this book but now I am listening to an audio version and am loving the story even more. The audio book I am listening to is narrated by Sissy Spacek and she is charming. Her southern accent is melodious and never tiring; she really brings a great voice to Scout and all of the other fantastic characters.

This is a well-written, thought-provoking book about racism in the South during the Great Depression. It's one of my favorite classics, but just be aware that there is some swearing and mature elements in it.

A very thoughtful book. Seriously wonder if the education system is the reason things are they way are today. Things have changed morally and ethically so much in our culture, sad in a way.

A classic...I re re-read this recently and found it still to be a very important piece of our culture and our past.
