And I will never give this series anything less than a five. There. I just saved you from hanging around my nutty self and seeing what I have to rave about this time. That's right. This review is more raving and more craziness... so... just warning you now. So, let's get started!!! Oh my word!!! This volume was amazing! YES! It was amazing! You got to see another member of the Zodiac, Uo's past, and even see retarded girls fond over Yuki. Okay... so that last part was a bit annoying for me but e...more
This volume of Fruits Basket suffered somewhat due to the inclusion of Hiro: World’s Most Irritating Child.
You may remember how in an earlier review I’d commented that the behavior of parents in this series seems a little over the top. In his case I understand. Let me tell you, if I had a kid like Hiro, his mouth would have been washed out with soap faster than you can say, “You are clearly the world’s most irritating child.”

I will admit that I actually saw the anime series of “Fruits Basket” by Natsuki Takaya way before I read the manga series, so everything that has been going on in the manga series is way different from what I have seen on the anime series. In this volume of “Fruits Basket,” Tohru meets a new member of the zodiac who is a little boy named Hiro. But unfortunately, Hiro does not seem to like Tohru since he believes that Tohru is trying to take Kisa away from him. Also, we hear about Arisa Uotani (T...more
OK, wow. Either I was remembering this series through a romantic rose-colored haze, or my tastes have totally changed. There are so many obnoxiously annoying characters in this series, and this volume had the worst one so far. I was ready to stop reading it right in the middle of a sentence, but then I keep thinking about how much I remembered loving this series, so I soldiered on until the end.

Hmm, another brilliant volume. Not much else to say than that XD.
Introducing Hiro, of course--he initially annoys me, being so smart mouthed and generally acting above everyone else, but his past makes me like him. I hope he listens to Tohru and, uh, maybe learns how to be a decent human being/sheep. That would be a bonus. (Every character's past from the Sohma's makes me like them, no matter how much I hate them... except Ayame, but so far there's nothing dramatic in his past apart from his per...more

I remember the episode of the anime that we met Hiro. I couldn't stand this kid. I don't care what he's going through. He's a little jerk. He needs to learn some manners.
I like the chapters that go into Uo's relationship with Kyoko. It's pretty cool to see Uo's background. It also gave a little more insight into Tohru's relationship with her mother. Kyoko sounds like she was really awesome. It's sad that she died.

In this volume we meet Hiro Sohma and to be honest I did not like his character at all. Hiro was a total brat! He ordered Tohru around like a servant and he is just a kid. Yes, his actions are somewhat explained but the give and take between he and Tohru just makes Tohru seem like even more of a door mat and it got very annoying.
The silver lining in volume 7 is getting to learn Arisa’s back story of how she came to be such good friends with Tohru and her mom. It was nice to see what Arisa was li...more

Hiro Sohma is this sarcastic, smart-alek, biting 6th grader who really knows how to hit someone's weak points and make them inferior. He, unfortunately, uses this "skill" on Tohru because he is jealous he couldn't help Kisa and Kisa adores Tohru. Heh, I don't think I could deal with someone like this. I'd either hate myself or hate him, or most likely both.

We got to meet another member of the zodiac in this volume: Hiro, the ram. I dislike him more than I dislike Kyo. Hiro is arrogant, pushy, and just a complete jerk. He was mad at Torhu for something she knew nothing about and treated her like crap. Hiro seriously annoys me to no end.
What I enjoyed about this volume was how we got to learn more about Uotani's past. She had a pretty troubled past, but turned her life around upon meeting Tohru and her mother, Uotani's idol, Kyoko. Much as I don't...more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SERIES!!!It's about a poor girl (Tohru) Gets taken in by the Sohma family. which the Sohma family has vengeful Chinese zodiac animal posses they Sohma family. ( they can be there selfs it's not like the spirits are controlling them) but every time they are touched by the opposite gender they turn into the zodiac animals. Shigure, turns into a dog (again they have control of their selves not the spirits) Kyo turn into a cat and something else but he keeps that a secret, and...more

This volume went into some more sad back stories and it was Hiro- the zodiac sheep- and Tohru's friend Uotani, is that her name? I'm slightly confused with the way they put second names before the first, so it's either that or Arisa. Anyway yes they back grounds are sad, I think Akito is even more of an asshole, but other than that the volume seems to be following the same pattern as all the others. That little bit of Yuki worship at the end didn't really seem necessary. Those girls need to grow...more
Ha-san! That was heart braking.

But I don't understand why Akito is such a jerk. Why can't the members of the Sohma family marry regular humans or others of the family?
Seriously, Hatori san falls in love with a human but Akito forbids it, but Hiro tells Akito he wants to marry Kisa and Kisa gets beat up by him. WTF?
Akito, well, it's never really been said, but I wonder if he has mental problems. Apart from his health problems.
Why is it that this manga makes me want to cry? Why? Everything is so...more

I didn't like the first two chapters, mostly because I can't stand Hiro. Those two chapters just weren't as much fun as usual.
But I really liked the next couple of stories, because I'd gotten a little tired of the usual cast, and having stories about Uotani's past was really cool. I also liked getting to Kyoko more.
I hope Fruits Basket isn't losing it's spark and that Fruits Basket 7 will be better.

This installment is my least favorite so far. Most of that I think is because Hiro Sohma didn't make too much of an impression on me, he really is a brat. Much of the rest of this one is Uotani's past and how she became friends with Tohru. The last chapter is Yuki's crazy fan girls again. I loved the cover though, Hatori is one of my favorite characters, so will continue on and hope 8 is better. I want more Hatori, Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru.
This is another great installment of Fruits Basket. I don’t particularly care for Hiro, because he is pretty rude, but at least he knows he needs to mature. Yuki’s fan club is always hilarious, but the president of the fan club is particularly interesting. She seems to be in love with Yuki, even though she barely talks to him, and doesn’t want to pick her replacement. I don’t know what to make of this, other than she, and the rest of the fan club, are particularly obsessed with Yuki. And not onl...more

The "ending" of the anime occurred in volume 6 of the manga, but volume 7 still contains storylines that were introduced in the anime. For example, meeting Hiro and President Motoko from the Prince Yuki fan club. I really liked learning more background about Arisa Uotani and Kyoko though!
- Hiro is a jerk! He really bugs me! I just want to smack him!
- Almost the whole book was about Uotani's past. While it was interesting, I really wish the main story would pick up! What is the conflict here!?!?
- Yuki's fan club needs to die! I can't believe there are whole chapters just about them. What a waste.
