Muriel no longer lives in hell under Satan’s thumb but in a realm populated by humans and supernaturals that is very much like the mortal realm only with things like the “Damned” network and Survivor: Burn In Hell. Sounds like a fun place to me! She owns a bar that is popular with the supernatural beasties because she is a “null” which makes the 100’ surrounding her a magic-free zone. One night, soon after another nagging visit from Satan, a hunk named Auric and his two gorgeous pals show up. She assumes Satan is testing her. But instead of wooing her, Auric is almost gruff as he demands to meet the owner of the bar. She refuses to answer him honestly, hell she’s been dodging assassins most of her life, but something about him fuels her lust as no other man has done. He’s hiding things as well but their connection is something neither can resist for long and once he kisses her he may just lose her virginity after all.

Though this story doesn’t hold any major surprises, especially when Auric’s secret is revealed, it was cute and pure sexy fun and so very easy to read. Muriel is funny and sarcastic and even though a virgin by choice, is not a prude. She can take care of herself but Auric, big He-man protector hasn’t a clue and assumes she’s a helpless little female. When he attempts to “save” her from a hellhound, not knowing she’s a daughter of Satan this fun exchange happens:

My heart fluttered. He’d called me pretty. He’d wanted to protect me. How cute–but so unnecessary.

“I appreciate the thought behind it, but really, I can take care of myself.”

“Even against hellhounds?” he said skeptically.

“Piece of cake,” I boasted. That wasn’t, technically, giving anything away. Lots of special folk could take care of hellhounds.

“Just who and what are you?” asked Auric.

His questions were getting repetitive. I rolled my eyes. “I told you, my name is Muriel.”

Auric crossed his arms over his chest–did I mention he had a really broad chest?–and gave me a stern look. Oh, please, once Satan gave you ‘the look,’ all other looks paled in comparison. I just glared right back at him ‘til he sighed with exasperation–another sound I was familiar with.

This story wraps everything up in a satisfying way but it could have been another 300 pages and I bet I would’ve enjoyed reading more because I loved the writing style so much. There aren’t a lot of writers I’ve found who can balance such strong sexual tension with a fun paranormal plot without their characters coming across as obnoxious or silly. This author succeeds for me and if these snippets make you grin you may want to check it out too.

Satan is hilarious as a frustrated daddy.

"I don’t know why, but I’m attached to you, too,” Satan said grumpily, hugging me back. I cherished moments like that; they tended to be few and far between. “Try to be bad,” he said, before popping out of sight.”

And Muriel’s sense of humor just completely won me over

“Rolling my eyes, I again had to question why men had to be so stubborn. “Seriously, Auric, you do not want to mess with this thing.”

“I’ve dealt with demons before,” he said, pulling out a sword from behind his kitchen counter. I had to admit being impressed–his sword was long, shiny, and hard. Wait, that didn’t sound right. Needless to say, he had a big one; and judging by the way he moved it, he also knew how to use it. Damn, I was even hornier than before. But right after I finished admiring his sword, I clued in to what he’d said.

“What do you mean, you’ve dealt with demons before?”

When Lucifer figures out who’s trying to overthrow him, there’s gonna be Hell to pay!

In the meantime he has to deal with his incredibly rebellious daughter who’s driving him crazy with her embarrassing disobedience! He's a laughing stock and worst of all, she refuses to give up her virginity, insisting she’s waiting for the right man to come along – someone she (*gasp*) loves. *heavy sigh* Where did he go wrong?

My friend recommended me this book, and with her brief introduction about the character types, I was ready to buy and read this book. Once I got started, I fell in love, really, IN LOVE with the set up. It was too rich and and just plain awesome. The Heroine, Satana, is such a badass and her father, Satan - real funny guy.

Muriel is Satan’s daughter – a virgin still at 23 and holding out for true love Satan is disappointed in her failure to live up to the demonising ways he wants. He loves her though, and is always trying to get her to flip over to the “dark” side of morality. She has lots of half siblings, mostly incubus/succubus so Satan’s very happy with their morals of course! We meet one, Bambi (Bambi the succubus – what irony!) who tries to help Muriel and protect her. Satan isn't the bad guy we expect – just one who loves his family and tries to live up to his reputation. He's a soft spot for Muriel and pops in almost daily to chat to her and offer tips on how to lose her virginity or do something to keep up the family reputation for evil. Muriel owns a bar and one evening three gorgeous hunks stroll in...life is never quite the same after wards.

Eve has a great way with words – I read one of her books last summer and it had me in stitches, this one has similar results. Whilst I was reading I couldn't help the sniggers slipping out and Him Indoors kept saying “what’s so funny?” but you have to read it in context to understand it. Satan has some great lines, Muriel is lovely, one of life's innocents in many ways and yet being brought up by Lucifer she is very familiar with the world of hell-hounds and the dangers of demons. Suddenly however it seems that more than usual number of demons are out to kill her and there are whispers of another uprising to overthrow Lucifer. The plot thickens, Muriel's finds sizzling romance ( and a good helping of lust), demons abound, there are captures and escapes and all wrapped up in some fantastic snarky quips from Lucifer.

The book is written from Muriel's point of view and very dialogue based – my favourite type. It allows the quips and humour to come through and makes me feel as though I'm present in the novel. The characters are well written and feel real, and I was quickly drawn into the novel and the actions and drama. Its fast paced and the humour just shines through – its a kind of demon-lit novel. Super-lit? Fantasy-lit? Hard to describe but like a chick-lit but with supernatural characters. They feel real though and its easy to get absorbed into the events. Muriel's brilliant, proud she can protect herself and yet happy like lots of females for a real Alpha male to take charge (or at least think he's in charge – we all know how to do that don't we ?) And Auric is certainly all Alpha male. He has secrets though and Muriel needs to know what they are. I love when she goes out with him against dads edict and he them tells her she's grounded – but the demon carrying the message is confused by it :) the novel is full of little quirks like that and made me laugh – a lot.

Its a funny light-hearted feel good book, not a great in-depth drama but one to relax with and lose yourself in for a few hours. Its an easy read with no huge surprises but fun all the way through. There;s sex here, scorching hot sex at times but not too graphic and it fits the plot lines perfectly. If you want a sexy, light, romantic fantasy read to brighten your spirits for a while this is it. I hope Eve writes more from Lucifer and Muriel ( and the delicious Auric of course).

Stars: well, its well edited, a bit short for me at 110 pages but that’s personal taste. I love long novels being a quick reader, but have friends who want short books as they only read a few pages at a time and want a book they can finish. Actually this is the perfect read for a train ride or something like that. Priced at £1.99 its par for the course with similar novels and worth the money. I'm giving it four stars.

She was a straight A student, the good apple in a sea of bad ones and is still a virgin at 23. But she’s not all the innocent because she has no problems of pleasuring herself when in need of a release.

This mismatched father – daughter duo is what really sold me on to the series. I loved how Satan was a frustrated daddy begging his daughter to go out and be sinister and promiscuous. But as much as he grumbled about Muriel not being vile enough it’s clear to the reader that he cares deeply for his daughter. It just goes to prove that just because he’s the Devil doesn’t mean he can’t care for his own children even though he’s got the oddest way of showing it. As for Muriel, she’s exactly the kind of daughter I would want Lucifer to have. She goes against everything her father wants or tells her to do but cares deeply for her dad and her family. She’s sassy, sarcastic, amusing, tenacious and independent. She may be a virgin but she’s no prude. Muriel was a fantastic heroine and as Lucifer’s daughter she wasn’t the damsel in distress kind of girl and she was more than able to defend herself with the magical powers she was born with.

As for the hero, Auric, he was a fantastic match for Muriel. He’s tall, dark, brooding and more than able to protect Muriel when needed. His identity is clouded at the beginning but when we find out who or what he is it wasn’t all that surprising. I liked that fact that he did not back down once he learns Muriel is the daughter of Lucifer and even stood up to the Devil himself when it came to Muriel’s safety and well-being. If the novella was a little longer I would have preferred Muriel and Auric’s relationship to progress in a more natural way but the fact that these two were horny for each other right from the start it wasn’t a surprise they’d jump in the sack that quickly. Langlais wrote a steaming sex scene and I only wished the book was a bit longer so we could get more of Muriel and Auric in the sac.

The story itself was a bit predictable (at least for me) but it was very well written and I loved the relationships Langlais has created with her characters. I liked the aspect of the villains trying to over throw the devil. I mean other than God, who else is crazy or brave enough to go against Lucifer and his army of demons? Definitely waiting to find out who's behind all this. For paranormal lovers who are looking for something a little bit different from your standard vampire, werewolf or demon tales, then I would definitely recommend the Princess of Hell series. It’s a fun, fast and witty read. You can’t help but like the characters, especially the Devil himself. I mean seriously, for me to say that I liked the Devil in this story says a lot about what a fantastic story the author has created.

Well one person finds the idea revolting. Of course Satan wouldn't want these sort of life's pursuits for his daughter, a Princess of Hell. He wants a sinner, a daughter who'll defile her body, outsmart him with cunning lies and disobey him at every turn. Instead he'll have to take pleasure in the one fact that Muriel doesn't want to wait to get married to loose her virginity. And if that's all the sin he'll get then he'll take it.

While Muriel does wish for normal, this area of her life proves to never work according to plan. Running her bar Nexus, Muriel had once thought to appeal to the locals, humans more specifically. Instead, Nexus became the number one hang out place for the seedier underworld locals. This she can handle but her love life? Forget about it. Having an unattainable list of requirements for the one, Muriel risks the chance of never finding love but her luck is soon about to change when a gorgeous leather-clad, hulk of man proves to be everything she's ever wanted and more. Now if only she can subdue the pesky demon assassins that have chosen this exact moment in time to overthrow her dad in Hell. The inconvenience of all could effectively curtail a romance that feels more than meant to be.

The Heroine:

Muriel is sassy, caustic, stubborn and brave. She's a person who knows herself and is strong in her resistance to fall for anything short of her ultimate desires. She loves her family, most especially her father and she doesn't care what being the daughter of Satan makes her except when it interferes with her love life. Men tend to run screaming at the discovery of her parentage except for Auric, the leather-clad, sword-wielding hottie couldn't care less who Muriel's father is. For the first time Muriel is met with total acceptance, love and chivalry. What woman wouldn't melt in the face of that?

The Hero:

Auric's a man of few words and Muriel's vivaciousness and coy games leave him more than speechless. He's a man who doesn't change his mind once a decision has been made but Muriel has him rethinking his way of life within hours of meeting her. For the first time he finds what it means to live again and fights for every opportunity to make Muriel his forever.

My Final Thoughts:

LUCIFER'S DAUGHTER is a well written short that moves steadily with just the right amount of mystery to keep you flipping the pages. Its characters are bold and unique enough to hold their own against the melee of grays that effectively toss out the stark white and black lines of good verses evil. Langlais effectively talks readers into tossing out all our preconceived notions of Lucifer and his typical role in the paranormals of today as well with his heart and his role as a father who just wants to see his children happy.

There's a distinct undertone of humor to LUCIFER'S DAUGHTER, a modernness that makes you think this is all occurring down the street of every day life. And Muriel resembles everyday girls with her dreams to find her one and only and live happily ever after. It's especially heartening to read of heroine that will not let her dreams go even in the face of powerful adversity.

The mystery of Auric was my favorite. It sneaks up on you, well at least it snuck up on me. I had no idea he would turn out to be who he is and I have no intention of divulging his identity here. The mystery is too fun and nicely played out in the novella.

For paranormal lovers who require an eclectic mix of characters tossed with some steam and a dash of Lucifer, look no farther than LUCIFER'S DAUGHTER.

Ok so here's the deal: the book isn't BAD and I can see why its got good ratings and stuff. I liked the idea and even some of the characters, but the thing is, there is no chemistry between Eve Langlais and I.

One look at the blurb and I knew I wanted to read it. As a lover of paranormal romance, the whole idea of a story seen through the eyes of a princess of Hell was extremely appealing and the line “makes my insides melt like marshmallows of the coals of hell” sealed the deal. It gave the promise that as I began to read I would find everything I love and to my absolute excitement it didn’t fail to deliver what I could only describe as a book SINFULLY entertaining with a heavy dose of sexy. If there was any chance of instant combustion, I took that risk as I read because this story sucked me in, lit a fire and burned through me until the satisfying, sigh inducing end.

Lucifer’s Daughter opened up with a conversation between Muriel and her Daddy dearest Lucifer, also known as Satan, the Devil, the Father of all Lies, Beelzebub, Prince of Darkness, King of Hell. We get to see their relationship in a snapshot – he’s frustrated she’s too good and wants desperately for her to “evil it up” because honestly, how does it look if Lucifer has a daughter who’s light on the sin and a virgin. With great love for her father, Muriel reminds him once again that as strange as it may seem to the world, her first time will be with someone she loves and that he needs to make do with the little “sins” she does do. Little does Muriel know but she’s about to meet a man with a low gravelly voice and sexy as hell (no pun intended) that will literally rock her world. Auric just might be the “one” if he can pass her three tests, one of them being his reaction to her being a princess of Hell and if she could just figure out what he’s hiding from her. He evades all her questions, seems to turn up everywhere and then there’s the question of just who he is and what kind of “supernatural” he is. As situations throw them together and things start to spice up – between them and the plot to overtake Hell – Muriel finds herself having to make a tough decision – just how much is she willing to risk for love?

I have to say I loved this story and the whole idea of it. Having never read Eve Langlais before, I was excited to find that she adds a great sense of humor with her style of writing. It had a nice lighthearted feel to it which made it very easy to fall into the story and it kept me totally involved to the end. I loved the emotions that I felt as I read and the connection I had with both Muriel and Auric. As a complete romance junkie, this had it all – those early moments of awareness, the longing for closeness and hands down my favorite – the drama of the fight that comes when that love is threatened and eventually conquered. The author had me sighing as I devoured each page and for me the story ended way too soon but I can’t really complain because the story will continue in Snowballs In Hell, which judging by the title looks just as good.

I enjoyed the way she wrote her characters, especially Muriel because she was instantly likeable and became someone that I was interested to learn more about. Here was a girl who held a conviction that even her father couldn’t break. At first glance I had to ask myself just what kind of character Muriel was, would she be a squeaky clean girly-girly. Oh she was definitely girly from the wardrobe she had but Muriel had spunk and the right kind of sass that made her a strong person. She was definitely tough, a necessity that comes with warding off attacks and I loved the confidence she had in her abilities to take care of herself. It was funny reading of her attraction to Auric and the frustration she felt as that attraction wreaked havoc over her body. As caught up as she become, she was still smart and as things took a turn for the worst, I loved her willingness to act, to fight and to do whatever it took to protect her newfound love. She was definitely a great character and with the mystery that comes with the secrets locked in her mind, it’ll be interesting to see what happens next with her.

Auric *sigh* He had me from the beginning when he walked into Muriel’s workplace with that sexy swagger and bad boy persona. You don’t really get to know who he truly is until deeper into the story but nothing beats a man of mystery and with his leather duster and magic sword (which he knew how to use VERY VERY well lol) it was easy to see why Muriel lost her heart so quickly to him. He was definitely the kind of hero I look for – extremely masculine, protective as heck and that sexy scar of his *sigh* Of course it also didn’t hurt that he was capable of melting Muriel’s insides with those deliciously hot kisses of his and how he smoldered when he looked at her *sighs again* Yep it wasn’t very hard to fall for him at all.

I’m really glad I got the chance to read Lucifer’s Daughter and it was definitely a great way to spend an evening. Eve Langlais has found herself another fan and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Muriel and Auric. With the way these two are with each other, it can only mean more heart racing action. The story itself was a bit predictable (at least for me) but it was very well written and I loved the relationships Langlais has created with her characters. I liked the aspect of the villains trying to over throw the devil. I mean other than God, who else is crazy or brave enough to go against Lucifer and his army of demons? Another winner from Eve Langlais. I really like her books that involve good, evil, and all things that go bump in the night.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this stuff, but what is really drawing me to Langlais' books is that nothing is black and white. This book is a perfect example. Another strong, badass female from Eve Langlais. This one just happens to be the virginal daughter of Lucifer. I thought it was hilarious that she refused to give herself to someone who wasn't "the one" while her dear old dad kept urging her to get her sin on.

Pretty interesting.......Well on to my review.... This was a very fast read for me....I devoured in one sitting...The concept- of a comedic spin on the usually a dark and scary evil (DEVIL & his DAUGHTER).

Oh, insta-love, how I hate thee.

Insta-love is, hands down, my least favorite romance trope. Not only do I find it unbelievable, I don't enjoy it simply because watching two characters fall in love is my favorite part of a romance book. When that part is skipped over by having the characters just suddenly get starry-eyed, I'm not a happy reader.

ich fand die Charaktere zu oberflächlich. wobei ich gestehen muss,dass muriel noch als einzigste tiefe hatte. ihre Art war sehr erfrischend,denn sie war keine die sich ständig beschützen ließ sondern auch mal selbst kämpfte.
mir hat auch die tiefe in der Beziehung zwischen muriel und Auric gefehlt. generell konnte ich nicht verstehen wie sie nach so kurzer zeit überzeugt waren,dass sie sich lieben. es war einfach zu schnell fur meine Verhältnisse.

I've read these books out of order but don't love them any less because of it. I just love the way Eve Langlais writes. Great, strong, snarky heroes and smokin' hot me. What's not to love? And the Princess of hell/fallen angel coupling--GENIUS! Muriel is such a fun character, she really makes the story for me. Auric--sigh, what an angel (pun definitely intended).
