This book does depicts different types of families, whether children are adopted, parents are divorced, etc. However, the book focuses on a step family. It explains that stepfamily is united where the mom or dad remarries another person to form a family. Therefore, parents are now step parents, if he or she has children already, and the children become step children by having their mom or dad remarry.
