This is the second book that I've read by author Darcia Helle and I'm glad she has several other books available as I'm looking forward to more.
Her knack for creating drama and compelling characters draws readers into her fictional world. I loved the title Miami Snow and thought it was a perfect title for the book. Miami Snow was one of those novels that you read through in a couple of days as you can't put it down, and then once you finish, you wish there was more left to read. The book was pac

Nick Donovan had it all—the wife of his dreams, a big house, a career he loved—but they all left him one day when he arrived home early to find his wife in bed with his best friend. What will he do when fate steps in and changes his life forever?
Sometimes fate has a surprise in store for you and Nick will find this out, but not before his life bottoms out. He is mad at the world, at his ex-wife Shelley in particular, and wallows for a time in self pity. Moving across the state to “find himself”

I noticed the words, "quiet fury," upon first reading this novel (on the copyright page, not within the story itself). Actually, a quiet fury seems to run through the characters/story--like a golden thread of intensity, quietly simmering under the surface, which holds the story together. Speaking of intensity, I noticed the line "Nickelback blasted from her speakers" on one of the book's pages, as I was pondering over this whole element of intensity. Everyone who knows Nickelback's music knows h ...more

This book is a smooth read with a cast of cool characters. At the center of the book is Nick Donovan, an IT guy whose wife has left him for his best friend. Nick’s life changes drastically when he has to negotiate the trials of fighting his ex-best friend and his ex-wife for custody of his child while surviving the hazards of the South Florida drug scene.

The book’s strong points are its colorful characters and its vibrant pace. For readers like me, the writer’s fidelity to genre form may rub th

Nick Donovan was living most men’s dream: a nice home, beautiful wife, a successful career. Some dreams turn into nightmares; unfortunately, his did when he came home early one day and found his wife in bed with his best friend. He learns his wife is pregnant but she’s not certain who the father may be.
Needless to say, his life spirals downward. At thirty-one, newly divorced and almost broke, Nick relocates to start over. He finds a meager paying job, moves into a cheap, shabby apartment and mee

Miami Snow (Darcia Helle).
Nick Donovan had it all, beautiful pregnant wife, nice home and perfect job. Then he loses it all. As he tries to pick up the pieces of his shattered life he meets Brandy Alexander, soon his life will never be the same.

Brandy the complete opposite of is ex-wife Shelly, is carefree and a bit on the wild side. Soon Nick finds himself in the world of sex, drugs and fast money. As he watches his friends lives change drastically he must come to terms with his inner emotions,
What a ride!! The story had some predictability going, then it would take a turn... It was like train wreck waiting to happen, yet you couldn't stop going... I felt like Nick was genuinely a good guy, so I found myself wanting to smack some sense into him through the whole book.

I hope this was a pre-release as I did find several spelling errors, but all in all, a good, quick read.

Tampa is blanketed in divorce, rebounds, squalor, sex and snow. Nick Donovan brought all of this into his once prismatic life, but that has changed since his wife was caught with an unsuspecting pal of his having a late afternoon romp. This book was right up there at the top of my list. Darcia Helle does an incredible job of getting you to know Nick Donovan and the abyss he has spiralled into from the end of his marriage to Shelley. Only to find out after she moves in with his best friend in his old house, that she is pregnant and the baby is Nick's.
Nick moves as far away from Shelley as he can and gets caught up with Brandy who is unfortunately a party girl who wants it all and will do anything to get it. Nick is dragged down

I loved this book from beginning to end and was very glad to have been given it by the author. I was already a fan and every time I read another of her stories it only confirms it.

Miami Snow is fast-paced, full of suspense and has an easy flow of writing that forces you to read on and on until you realise it's way into the early hours of the morning.

I never give spoilers but will say that I thought the characters fitted well into the story, the plot was realistic (even though I can only guess th

I really thought I would love this story. I just liked it. It dragged for a really long time but I just had to know how it turned out. The last chapter or 2 were really like a wham bam. Nick was a good guy and got a mainly nice HEA. Brandy got the high life she wanted so badly. Jimmy the ex-best friend the slept with Nick's now ex-wife, I knew he was hiding something else. Shelly the ex-wife, I can't really say she got what she deserved, no one deserves that. I was truly shocked by her turn o
This was my 1st book that I received from Goodreads.I really enjoyed this book, and couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed and the plot was well defined. The action picked up in the latter part of the book, with a slight twist.I read alot of books, and mostly enjoy crime/suspense and action books. This was a enjoyable book to read. Thank you Goodreads and Darcia Helle for allowing me to read and comment on this book.
This book started a bit slow for my liking, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying it. The ending was a complete shock and totally made the book.
Won from first reads!! Looks interesting...I like the title.

I write because the characters trespassing through my mind leave me no alternative.

Words are my addiction. I love to read; fiction, nonfiction, cereal boxes, ingredient labels. If it has words, I'll read it.

I am originally from Massachusetts and now live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I'm married, with 2 sons, a beautiful new granddaughter, and 5 very spoiled animals.
