The late Catholic priest, Father Joseph M. Champlin, former Rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Syracuse, New York, wrote a great introduction concerning the Roman Rite form of the Mass, including historical insights, as well as annotating chnges to the Mass as he goes through the order of the Mass, from beginning to the end. This book is just awful. I am only writing this due to the fact that the ratings are strangely high. I picked this up thinking it was a history of the symbolism of the mass (which is what the author sells it as)only to find a whole book talking about his own experience with liturgy!!!! BORING. I can't believe I finished it.
