One of the many delightful books I've gotten off the Sony library of classics. Sometimes the print in these things is so old the fs and s's are interchangeable, but hey, the price is right.

Anyway, this is a series of memoirs penned a generation afterward, about the Congress of Vienna. Period details are delightfully fresh and vivid, the sorts of things that politically oriented history books never touch on, like how the kings decided on precedence (according to birthday) and how bewildering it w
