HIGHLAND MASTER by Amanda Scott was the first book I've read in the Scottish Knights series. I was pleasantly surprised to find this book so addictive. It starts out with a battle between two clans. In this battle, Sir Finlagh Cameron, also known as Fin of the Battles, promises his dying father to avenge his clan against the Mackintosh clan! While he barely escapes this battle, he finds his way to a beautiful maiden Lady Catriona. She takes him back to her castle to attend to him promising his s ...more

Honestly?? I am STILL trying to get past my extreme disappointment after reading this. There was no story to this book what so ever. By no story I mean: where was the hero's and heroine's love!? where was their fight to get to one another or what ever the obstacles the usual historical romance, or any romance, novel has in it. All they did was talk, suddenly admit they had feelings for one another, and the ENTIRE time the enemy clan knew who the hero's family was! WTF!
That doesn't make a story.

I really wanted to like this book but the political strifes greatly overshadowed the romance to the point where I was struggling to finish the story. I will try another book by this author and see if it was just me and this book that did not mesh...

The story opens on a battlefield in Perth, Scotland in 1396. The battle is between the Mackintoshes (Clan Chattan) and the Camerons. Clan Chattan is the victor as only one Cameron is left alive. This survivor, Fin, swears an oath to his dying father, the clan leader, for vengeance against Clan Chattan. One of Clan Chattan's members approached him at this point and they recognized each other and realized they could not fight, so he motioned for Fin to go for the river so he would survive. Amanda Scott's latest, Highland Master, is a wild Scottish historical that captures the treacherous politics of the times and sweeps you back to the past.

In this story, Sir Finlagh Cameron swore to his father that he would avenge his death and seek vengeance against the Clan Chattan's war leader. Years later, Fin has been shot down by an arrow and is saved the impetuous and spirited Lady Catriona. But Fin soon find out her

Although I've seen her name on the shelves at my local bookstore, this was actually my first Amanda Scott read. I've been in a highlander state of mind and with a title like "Highland Master" I couldn't resist ;) In the afterward, Ms. Scott tells us the book was based on an actual Scottish legend!

Catriona Mackintosh is a young highland lady, smart and spunky and full of life. She's wandering through the forest one morning and comes across an injured stranger. She comes to his aid and brings him

Highland Master is the first book in the Scottish Knights Trilogy. Fin of the Battles, or Sir Finlagh Mackintosh (Cameron) was the sole survivor of a clan war who made a vow to his dying father on the battlefield for vengeance. On an errand from the Prince of Scotland, he is badly injured and finds himself at the mercy of the Lady Catriona. Very soon Fin comes to find that those who aid him in his healing are the very same clan on which he seeks vengeance. To complicate matters, he is developing ...more

Although Amanda Scott is one of the most prolific highland romance writers around, this was the first book of hers that I have read. Besides, the cover is just plain gorgeous and there is something hypnotic about the guys eyes that I just”had” to read this one.

Highland Master is based on Amanda Scott’s interpretation of a real highland legend that occurred between these clans in the 1400’s. The book is heavier on the historical history of the times compared with some historical

Sir Finlagh Cameron finds himself swearing an oath of revenge after a bloody battle that left him the sole survivor of his clan’s side. When he unexpectedly comes in contact with the daughter of the man he promised to kill, he finds that carrying out that oath might be difficult considering he is falling in love with the daughter of his enemy.

I was absolutely taken with the setting and characters in Highland Master. Catriona aptly nicknamed “wildcat” was a pleasure to get to know. I loved her sa

İçine giremedim, her şey havada kaldı. Fazlasıyla sıkıntı yarattı bende.
İkincisi, kitaba 25 lira yerine 8 lira verdiğim için çok mutluyum. Aslında sanırım bu bile kitap için fazla olabilir ya neyse..

Was finally able to read this. I really liked the characters and the setting is one of my favorites. It seemed a little long with the historical facts around the middle of the book. I like a romance novel that is heavy on the romance and not on the history. A really good book.

I actually received this around the 9th of Feb. I have had a death in the family and have not been able to read this yet but I can't wait.

i'm really glad i read this book. it's not a book i normally would have read, but now i have a new favorite author. I love the way they talk with that Scottish accent. The romance, so hot and filled with passion. I like the way Cat is out of the bow so to speak, compared to how the woman in that time frame were supposed to be. there's trouble, romance, and mystery. Love it.i would recommend it.

'I finally got back to this book and enjoyed it. It took me sometime to get used to the Scottish phrases being thrown in. All in all it was good. The most disconcerting thing about this time and place was all the names one person could go by thus making it hard took keep track of who is who....

The heroine is feisty but not really all that active. She is overwhelmed by love. She does help the hero save the good guys. The hero is decently drawn but I was disappointed in the heroine.

Sorry folks, but I got to page 215 and refused to read any further.

I really wanted to like this book. Rugged Scottish scenery, knights, clan rivalries, valour - the knight-in-shining-armour heroic stuff. That's what I had hoped this book would be full of. I don't think it helped that I read this straight after an Elizabeth Chadwick knights story which WAS full of all of the above (minus Scotland!). Instead it is full of plots I can't get my "head round", fluffy romance and hard-to-engage-with c

This is another book I got for free through the Goodreads Firstreads program. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a romance novel, but it was just okay. It wasn't bad, it was fine, but not impressive. The characters never came to life for me. It had a promising beginning with a good hook into the story, and I did like the political machinations going on in the background. I was aggravated with the 15th century attitudes about women, although I am sure they were historically accurate. They galled ...more
