Had I read this book before my daughter caught her first bug several weeks ago, she and I would have been spared two trips to the doctor and (what I now believe to be) a completely unnecessary course of antibiotics for what was, in all likelihood, just a childhood virus.

Every parent in the planet should read this book. I recommended it to all my friends. In my country (Brazil) it's very usual to meet doctors that prescribe antibiotics for no reason. Fortunately my daughter has an amazing pediatrician and we never had this kind of problem. But not everybody around is that lucky.
This is a great review for parents of young children about the differences between bacterial infections and viruses and how antibiotics are used, and should be used.
