I've been a Christian for a wee 7 years and wanted to grow in prayer and intercession. How I wish someone had introduced me to this book sooner! It's a quick read that serves as an excellent and broad survey on prayer. This provided me a framework on how to effectively pray. I walked away with nuggets that I feel like are keys to unlocking in prayer, along with plenty of encouragement to keep at it in faith. Cindy's style is not for everyone. There is both reference to scripture and anecdotes, h ...more

Prayer is our lifeline. The power of God is freely given to us as we converse with the Lord. On our knees we are taller than trees. Why are we settling for the crumbs that drop from our Master's table? He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and is anxious to share it all with us. Plug into His Word, and soar like the angels. Every good and perfect gift comes from God. Seek the kingdom of God. He has plans for us to prosper. After all, Jesus gave His all for us. Our thoughts are n

Cindy Jacobs does well to stir her readers to pray. Chapter 5 on fasting is my favorite. I appreciate her conviction, going so far as to say, "There are certain answers to prayer that we will never see unless we combine prayer with fasting." I am resolved upon reading this book to return to God day after day and make my requests known.

The book elaborates on some basic spiritual truths about prayer with copious references to the Scriptures. It reminds the reader to pray in accordance with the Bible. It reminds the reader that fasting is a powerful prayer tool. The book also makes the claim that we should pray "proclamation prayers", which means that instead of bringing the Christian viewpoint to the attention of world leaders and other decision-makers, we should pray about things that are important to the establishment of the ...more

There were a number of helpful insights on prayer in Mrs. Jacobs' book, and I respect her as an intercessor. I was encouraged to see that some of the concepts and terminology which she presented were very similar -- even identical at times -- to what I have heard personally from the Lord through the years.

What I did not like was the emphasis on dominion theology, which I believe swings away from a true perspective of the Kingdom of God. There were a few other odd ideas which showed up along the

This book has some important content, but it's not only a little bit about persistent prayer. The book also suffers from Jacobs's chatty tone, which, instead of making her ideas accessible, just limits the book. There are too many tangential and unconvincing examples (such as those of her kids or grandkids doing things that don't really prove her points). I'm also disappointed that she uses my least favorite Bible translations, which make scripture-based argument less effective.

So, yeah, good st

While I think that this was a good book with some great reminders and tips on how to increase your prayer life I felt like Cindy Jacobs got lost in a lot of endorsement of herself and telling us all of the people she knows. I think it is great that she has written many books and has a lot of influential friends that do great stuff, but that isn't the point of this book. To be completely honest it turned me off a bit. As I did my best to overlook this annoying piece of the writing style I did gat ...more

This book was pretty good. A lot of good fundamentals. I was almost afraid at times that it was going to turn into a 'name it, claim it' type of thing, but it stayed pretty biblical. Some of it seemed a little wordy, but it wasn't too over the top in that respect. Not too bad for a free ebook.

I really enjoyed reading this book! It had a lot of great insights as to how we should pray. The only thing I didn't like about it was that there were A LOT of stories that the author used to make points and I thought it was a little excessive. Overall, it was a great read!

Encouraging Book

Everyone's prayer life needs uplifted especially when unanswered prays begins to discourage us. This book encouraged me to continue in pray and to never give up. The book also presented guidelines for a productive prayer life.

The Power of Persistent Prayer

Very interesting book I learned alot of new things that I was not aware of in the differences between prayers. That we need to be persistent in our prayers.

Ever you have ever wondered what to pray about and if God is answering your prayers, you need to read this book. What a prayer life we could have if we took the advice in this book. Miracles could happen.
