When I heard about Marriage Most Scandalous was about I was intrigued. The hero was described as a mercenary which made my ears perk up. I love dangerous romance heroes. What can I say? I was tempted, despite my limited financial funds to buy the book when it came out (from Walmart at a considerable discount), but since money wasn't good I elected to wait. The book was going so well right up until the end. I was going to give it 4 stars, but there was a plot twist and an ending that were both so contrived it kind of ruined it for me and annoyed me to no end. I'm still torn because if I think too much about that I might give it 2 stars instead of 3. However, since it went so well until about 85% of it I'm going to go with 3 stars for now. It's more of a 2.5 though.

A romance with a good start but then, unfortunately, fell flat in the end. The beginning was really good with a dark, and unusual hero and an interesting plotline but then everything become too improbable. Not to mention, I felt a lack of romance (romantic romance, y’know?) . I saw UST but not love, if you know what I saying.

So great! This was my first Johanna Lindsey and I can't wait to read more! It had everything a good historical romance should have but it was even better because it totally focused on the hero of the story so we knew exactly why he was so emotionally messed up instead of waiting til the end to tell us. I really must strive to remember that I don't actually like Lindsey's writing style. *sigh* I only continued reading based solely on the strength of her story (vs. the actual storytelling). Her outlandish and far-fetched resolutions are too much for me and I find her writing terrible. But again, she certainly does have quite the imagination!
All this is to say that despite these shortcomings, it was a reasonably enjoyable read. However, I don't think I'll be reading anymore of her work ...more

Marriage Most Scandalous was, is, and always will be Included into Johanna Lindseys MOST wonderful books of all time. This was an AMAZING story! Everything from the Beginning to the End. Wonderful Twists and Turns of the Plot.
They're 2 twists in the book that made me say "WHAT THE F***!" out loud! The Characters are fantastic. The love-making was not only Passionate and Sexy, it was a wonderful expression of True love. I love this book it was wonderful. The whole book was supurbe.

An enjoyable read. It has been more than a...ahem, score of years since I read a book by Johanna Lindsey. That said, this was fun. A twisted plot that got really knotted and perhaps, a little too quickly resolved for my tastes. The emotional changes were sped up, peoples feelings altering and accepting grievances to easily. Then again, I am a grudge bearer and malicious when wronged, so mayhap it is only my view.

A bit scandalous but I should have know by the title. It was recommended to me...I don't think I would have read it on my own. Despite the parts that I had to skip it was a lot of fun. I do love historical novels and enjoyed the plot twists all the way to the end. But sometimes I think that books could be stronger if not everything was tied up in a perfect little package, with a neat bow on top. Life is messy and full of chaos...sometimes it is good to embrace it and revel in it.

If you've read alot of Lindsey's then you've pretty much read this before you've even cracked the spine, although the characters didn't really hang with me like some of her others. Plus the plot kinda fell apart. You've read this plotline a 100 times. The Hero and Heroine pretend their married to get back in with the hero's father who disowned him but is an obvious ploy to get the hero in the heroines bedroom. Disappointing.

I love Johanna Lindsey's books. I picked this one up at the libraary and made the mistake of looking at reviews before reading it. I almost passed it up, but I am soooo glad I didn't. I think this is one of her best books. The story line is different and complicated. Both main characters have pain they are working through and they find solace in each other. I really enjoyed this romance, I hadn't read an historical one in ages though I often wanted to. So this book was perfect to pull me back into the genre.
I was enthralled by the characters, I fell for them from the first chapters. I particularly liked Margaret's fortitude - her life wasn't exactly a bed of roses.
The plot was absorbing and realistic, Sebastian and Margaret relationship was evolved beautifully.
And if I were Sebastian, I would have killed Giles. Slowly.

This book, though similar genre wise to other of Lindsey's writings, was in some ways a slightly different bird. I felt as though it had more an air of mystery about it than any of of her other novels, perhaps partially due to reading too much Sookie Stackhouse of late. I liked it, though I can't quite say it was what I expected (not that it's a bad thing).
I usually like Johanna Lindsey's books for quick reads that draw me fully into the characters' lives. There was something about this one that just didn't work-I never liked the characters that much and wasn't rooting for them. I hardly ever give up on a book, but I'm 3/4 of the way through and debating whether to finish or bail.
A so-so romantic novel. I don't think I'll be reading any more Johanna Lindsey books. Her plots are a little too thin. She sets up the initial conflict well but it's not enough to keep the reader engaged for a whole novel so she resorts to her characters doing stupid things to keep the story going.

Started off rather nicely..draggy middle and rather unexpected conclusion..so predictable if we can predict that. The story is good..wish it didn’t hang in the middle and continued off at other places. Characters are good though. I don’t knw how to say more. I would have rated the worst if not for the ending.
I had not read a Johanna Lindsey book in a long time and I was really excited about reading this one. It was dissapointing. To me, it started slow and it just did not get any better. I made myself finish it but was skipping some of it along the way. I liked the characters but they did not click in my opinion.

I have read every johanna lindsey book out there more than once, except this one. For some reason, this one just didn't resonate with me. I should probably read it again, just to see if I like it more this time, but there just always seems to be something else I'd rather read.
Hmmm......ini adalah buku historical romance dari penulis yang ketiga yang saya baca....kok ya biar beda penulis, isi dan tema ceritanya mirip-mirip ya? apa karena settingnya selalu di Inggris? Bangsawan....yang terbuang....pernikahan pura-pura.....sehingga membuat bosan saya sebagai pembacanya karena modelnya gitu-gitu aja, ditambah dengan parahnya mutu terjemahan dari penerbit gagasmedia ini.

Bleh. Far-fetched. Nothing to recommend the hero for (why did our otherwise intelligent heroine marry him/eventually fall in love with him?). Plodding plot. Contractions throughout dialogue make it seem as though the characters mumble. Frustrating. Disappointing.

The book was great. The twists were unexpected. However, I did not rated it 5 star because I think the story was quite short. There was not enough scenes, not enough plots. I felt that it was written in a rush. A longer story would have been better. Even so, it was good.
This one was just OK for me. I forgot how mild Ms. Lindsey's love scenes are. I'm not sure I like any of the characters all that much and can't figure out how they fell in love. I did like the narrator though.
