Army Captain Ty "Wolf" Wolfson is back in the States from Iraq to fulfill a promise made to a dying soldier/friend. Wolf is to make sure that his friend's sister, Hailey, doesn't go to the Middle East for her missionary work because it is too dangerous. After Wolf and Hailey spend some time together they find themselves falling in love. Wolf feels that he doesn't have much to offer Hailey. He is suffering from survivor's guilt, and he blames himself for the deaths of his fellow soldiers.

Hailey O'Brien plans on being a missionary in the Middle East. Her brother Clay had fought in the war there and after his vehicle came under attack he lost his life. Hailey wanted to do her part by bringing the Gospel to the people her brother fought to help.

Ty Wolfson, or Wolf to his friends, held his friend Clay as he lay dying. Clay's last request was to go to his little sister and talk her out of going to the mission field alone. From the picture Clay carried of his sister Wolf figured she

A sweet romance that took me quite by surprise has turned into a lovely little novel that will not be leaving my keeper shelf anytime soon.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect in HOMECOMING HERO. But the story in and of itself drew me in. It is a sweet romance between a returning Iraqi vet and a young woman determined to head to the Middle East to be a missionary. The circumstances that thrust them together keep the story going and the romantic connection progressed at a natural pace.

What I real

I loved the characters and the story was very interesting. Ms. Ryan does a great job of showing what our military men and women have to deal with while adjusting to life after a tour. What is mind boggling to me is the constant deployment of the same soldiers over and over again. In HH, Wolf--the strong and sexy hero-- has to deal with feelings of guilt he has over surviving a bomb that killed his fellow soldiers. This is a scenario that plays out in real life and our soldiers need time to deal ...more

Recommends it for: those looking for a unique contemporary Christian romance
Intense, realistic, and romantic, Homecoming Hero is a page turner from start to finish. In this unique story, Renee Ryan has combined today’s headlines with a marvelous message about faith, service, and forgiveness. The author’s skill shows in her attention to detail and humor, but especially in her ability to write believably about a very alpha male dealing with a faith crisis and a young woman struggling with her calling. The hero and heroine, a soldier returning from Iraq and a young woman w ...more
I did not know how I would feel about this book because it was Christian faith based. I really liked it though. The only drawback is that it could be a bit longer and have a bit more to the story. I guess it is like when I read a series. I guess I just have to look
forward to more books by Renee in this town / storyline...maybe J.T.'s story?
That was a hint Renee....

I was waiting for something interesting to happen in the book. Really wanted the minister to turn into an arms smuggler or something. The heroine drags the hero to church when he comes back from Iraq and then wonders why he drags his feet. IDK, perhaps after a long plane ride he'd like to take a shower, eat, maybe a nap. Very predictable.

Renee Ryan grew up in a small Florida beach town. Surfing didn’t work for her, but that didn’t keep her from watching others tackle the waves. To entertain herself during those countless hours of “laying-out”, she read many of the classics. It wasn’t until the summer between her sophomore and junior years at Florida State University that she read her first romance novel. Hooked from page one, she ...more
