I love fairy tales and this one just ruined it for me. The MC, Eryn has several dreams of his true love and after a while decided to set off on a journey to find said true love. On his way, he comes to an impasse and can't decide which direction to go. An old lady who he can tell is a witch asks him a series of question which he tries to lie his way out of resulting in him being punished by the witch. The punishment for the lies is that he has to declare 3 time he desires men (in his world this...more

Sleeping Beauty has never been so hot! Rawr!!!

I think this book is something like The Alchemist meets an erotic fairy tale. (I'll change that when I think of an erotic fairytale) Eryn sets off to find true love, but first he must find himself. He also has to gain the strength to save his love, Wyn. The takes him on a journey through and enchanted forest where he meets many creatures that are there to test and/or break his spirit.

I really wanted to like this book so much more than I did. It was too easy for me to put down, which is never a g...more

I read this short little fairy tale last night and it wasn't up to the standards of Heidi Cullinan's usual work with numerous errors and rather sloppy writing.

It felt more like a porn tale than a short book. The plot was rather lacking and not completely consistent, character development was also light. For what it was, it wasn't horrible, but I expected more from this author.

Very good bdsm m/m faery tale about a young man who, after having numerous dreams of his true love, sets off to find him. The journey is not at all what he expects... truly a case of "you can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need."

Sweet Son is one of the Dreamspinner fantasy books that reinterpret classic fairytales as m/m romance stories. This offering is a retelling of Snow White, complete with happy ever after ending and a good dose of magic. Cullinan knows how to weave a good fantasy and this is no different. While the actual characters may not be the focus, the story is all about the moral. Here, the retelling is both faithful and a good departure that conveys the theme while offering a life lesson.

Some themes stand...more

A fairy tale like no other. Eryn sets out to find his prince, the rumored "sweet son", a prince of the clouds. On the way he is captured by bandits, raped and held hostage only to be captured again when a pasha shows up with his armed guards and takes Eryn from them. The pasha introduces Eryn to pain becoming pleasure, using him until Eryn finally sees what the pasha truly wants from him and is then trained in martial arts. When the bandits return and attack the pasha's camp, Eryn is sent with t...more

I wish I had never picked this story up. I didn't like it. I'm not happy. I didn't find this sexy or hot or anything but a total turn-off.

Yuck.

I will say that it was because the story was not to my taste, I'm not basing my rating off of the author's writing ability, just my enjoyment of the story, which was non-existent.

This is a fairy tale with a definite twist. At first I believed the story was going to be more of a Sleeping Beauty and the Seven Dwarfs (no dwarfs) tale but after reflecting on the book, I realized that it was more a tale of self-discovery and self-acceptance.

Eryn longed for the man of his dreams and decides to leave everyone and everything behind in his search for the man he only sees in his sleep, his true love. Along the way, Eryn must overcome many dangers on his quest. There are bandits, w...more

This was just an okay read for me. I don't like books with abuse and I didn't like the pasha's abuse of Eryn. (view spoiler)...more

Neat fairy tale. I read it in that tradition, since the story immediately struck me as such. It has all the elements; a road trip, witches, magical horses, true love, self discovery. Because of it's fairy tale character, I think it needed a bit more editing to tighten the story up and make it a bit shorter. It didn't feel long, but we could have gotten to the action a bit earlier. Otherwise, we needed more of the Satrap. (view spoiler)...more

I won this book in a giveaway by the author! (yay me!)

But devoured it when i got the chance - I normally have three or four books going at once, but this one I read right through with no breaks (in fact I nearly missed my connecting metro ride because I was caught up in it). A hot M/M fairy tale romance with elements of sleeping beauty in it! This was my first book by Heidi Cullinan and it definately won't be my last!

Group read for the BDSM group.

I've always had a love for fairy tales. Sweet Son just encouraged my feelings towards them a little bit more. :) This is a very sweet and romantic story. I will definitly be comeing back to this story in the future when craving a quick fairy tale. Thank you Heidi! :D

I love fairy tales. Anything starting with "once upon a time" has my unwavering attention, unless it has bdsm elements. I could not love this book as much as I should love because of my personal views on rape and bdsm (I don't hate reading bdsm unless both parties give their consent which is rare). Anyway, if you are into bdsm I suggest it as a quick and fun read.

Didn't work for me at all. This was very much an "idea" story, with no real emotional connection (at least for me). It would likely appeal more to someone who loves reading bdsm (I've read a fair number of bdsm stories I've enjoyed, but it's not the draw, it's just the background to other elements I savor, such as compelling characterization and deep emotion).

What a sweet, romantic story! This was a unique take on some fairy tales we've grown up with. Also, there were strong BDSM elements. I was caught up in the trials Eryn had to go through to prove that he was worthy of Wyn. it made some of the harsher elements of the story more tolerable for me. This is a quick read so I gobbled it up a few hours.

Not a big fan of fairy tale romances and this one really did nothing for me at all. I have a hard time separating the original fairy tale story from what I am reading. True love won out in the end and the road traveled to get there was not ordinary. I still had a hard time. It was not a horrible book, but just not the right book for me.

I'm a sucker for fairy stories in any sub-genre, and this was an even-paced romp in magic(k) and just HOW a fairy tale should be!!

Eryn was a superb protagonist, dealing (or not) with anything that happened. And the denouement at the end was classic!

Great story. Very well written. Great characters and an intricate story line that will not leave you bored. I think I cried at least 5 times while reading this book. I just loved it

Fairy tale tone and plot were done well. A little horror, a little magic, a little romance. Perhaps it was that specific tone that made me want something more concise.

It took me a little time to relate to the MC but the second half the story grabbed me. Reminded me a little of Sleeping beauty by Anne Rice

Heidi Cullinan has always loved a good love story, provided it has a happy ending. She enjoys writing across many genres but loves above all to write happy, romantic endings for LGBT characters because there just aren't enough of those stories out there. When Heidi isn't writing, she enjoys cooking, reading, knitting, listening to music, and watching television with her family. Heidi also voluntee...more
