Received for review from Quirk

What I Loved: This was a fun, quirky end to the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies series. My favorite character by far was Kitty. She was spunky, fun and very dangerous when pushed. Though this was a story about Elizabeth saving Darcy, I felt it was more about Kitty and Mary coming into their own. Finally showing who they were and what they stood for. It was about time the two youngest sisters got in on the action and had stories of their own!

About the Book: Four years after the events of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have settled into life at Pemberly. But on a walk Mr. Darcy is attacked by a dreadful and falls into the strange plague. Elizabeth knows that the correct response is to behead her husband, but she can't bring herself to do it. She enlists the help of Lady Catherine de Bourgh, who claims there may be a cure and Elizabeth must go after it, using her womanly wiles to seduce Sir Angus MacFarquhar, More...

My review:
Thanks to Quirk books again for sending me this amongst other books! *smiles* .As I came to realise, Quirk books have a knack for taking traditional classics and adding a humorous twist to the tale to spice things up – and this book is no different. Taking the classic story of Elizabeth and Darcy and their married life, Steve Hockensmith creates a tale that involves zombies, love, bravery and hope. Be sure to take a healthy bite out of this book ;)

My thoughts:
This book promises romance, heartbreak, martial arts, cannibalism, and armies of shambling corpses. It deliveries! I have loved these books published by Quirk Classics. The first one that hooked me was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, next I read the prequel Dawn of the Dreadfuls. Now comes the exciting conclusion to the trilogy Dreadfully Ever After. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read and review Dawn of the Dreadfuls by Steven Hockensmith. It's the perfect recipe o More...

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After in which the warrior women of the Bennett line combat intrigues, scandals, dreadfuls, ninja and high society by utilizing their varied martial arts skills and the manners and etiquette of a gentleman's daughters.

I am going to start this by stating that I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice (Austen). I also enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
If anything, this latest installment may have been even more fun, probably because it didn More...

It was four years ago that Lizzy married Mr. Darcy. It was four years ago that Lizzy put down her katana to replace it with a wedding ring. It wasn't proper for married women to show their skills in the deadly arts. On occasion, Mr. Darcy would humor Elizabeth with private skirmishes against unmentionables because he knew she enjoyed them so much. Everything was going well until that fateful day when Mr. Darcy was attacked and bitten by an unmentionable.

Check your stuffy self at the door and prepare for another fun action-adventure ride from the Bennetts!

The conclusion to the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies trilogy picks up after Darcy and Lizzie should begin their happily ever after, but this is an England of Zombies. Poor Darcy is bitten by a dreadful and Lizzie races to save her husband before she is forced to chop his head off.

Steve Hockensmith is the genius behind the first big classic mash-up, bringing readers on More...

Disgrace is not the lowest point to which one can sink. Death, or rather undeath, is somewhat less acceptable. Nevertheless, whenever possible, one should avoid succumbing to either.

In 2010, Hockensmith continued the storyline from Seth Grahame-Smith’s popular mashup of Jane Austen’s classic, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, with the release of a prequel, Dawn of the Dreadfuls. Dreadfully Ever After completes the P & P & Z trilogy.

Sigh, and so this is the final book in the Pride, Prejudice and Zombies series. We have followed Elizabeth and Darcy through their battles with the Dead , finally a marriage and now can they survive being torn apart by the dreadful and undead life ever after? This is written in the wonderful style of Jane Austen and Steve Hockensmith does an admirable job of capturing the voice and keeping it true to the era.

After four years of marriage, Darcy finds himself with a nasty bite. Elizabe More...

The third instalment of the Quirk Classics’ Pride and Prejudice series, Dreadfully Ever After is set a number of years after events of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and follows our main protagonist Elizabeth in the wake of her marriage to Mr Darcy. Fans of the series will be pleased to know this lively sequel sees a return of all the old favourites, including nearly all of the Bennet sisters, as well as a number of familiar faces who make a surprise return towards the end.

Dreadfully Ever After / 978-1-59474-502-7

I thoroughly enjoyed the Quirk Classic "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", and I loved the manner in which the ultra-violent zombie mayhem was cleanly and precisely inter-woven with the original Austen prose and settings. Now we have "Dreadfully Ever After", a sequel to PPPZ, and the end to the trilogy that was rounded out with prequel novel "Dawn of the Dreadfuls".

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After is the perfect ending to the P&P&Z trilogy. Once again we meet with our old friends, the Darcy's and the Bennets, as well as Lady Catherine and her daughter, Ann.

Written in the brilliant style that Hockensmith has perfected, Dreadfully Ever After is full of everything we've grown to expect from the previous novels in the P&P&Z trilogy, and much more. This has to be my favorite out of the trilogy, and I'm sad to see it end. Hockensm More...

To be honest, I've long struggled with the mash-up. I've liked a few, but I've also felt like they were hard to read because I was constantly comparing to the original and was unable to really get into the book at hand. So I was very excited to read Dreadfully Ever After because I knew that there would be no reference point for me to look back to. This book would be all it's own, taking characters I love and transporting them somewhere new. I was excited and nervous, and really hoping it would w More...

Dreadfully Ever After is the third and final installment in the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies trilogy. What can I say, other than this trilogy has been a fun and quirky ride?
Dreadfully Ever After starts off with a happily married Elizabeth and Darcy visiting the Bingley's, who I might add have four children. Elizabeth is no longer allowed to slay zombies in public especially, since she is now a married woman and doing so is frowned upon when she has a perfectly capable husband to slay th More...

This book is the third in the Pride, Prejudice and Zombies (PPZ) trilogy. The others being Pride, Prejudice and Zombies (obviously) by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith and the prequel Dawn Of The Dreadfuls by Steve Hockensmith.

Once again Kellgren guides us through Regency England with a flare only an English accent can give. The Bennet sisters came to life through her lively narration, and I was especially impressed with her wider range of male voices this time around. Perhaps it was because there was ultimately a smaller number of them, but I was pleased to be able to easily identify each speaker after only a few syllables. Most impressive was the Scottish speaker More...

found it a little difficult to review these books individually, so I have decided to do it as a whole. This review will be short, as I am stepped WAY out of my comfort reading zone by agreeing to review these books for Quirk Books. I've been told by friends that have read this series that you need to have read the orginal Pride and Prejudice before attempting these. I have not. Nor do I have any desire to. I don't like zombie books and I haven't found a classic book that I have liked yet

*EPIC* Thats the only word I can use to describe it. I really liked how they kinda chose to focus on Mary and Kitty and Anne instead of just limiting the story to Darcy and Elizabeth because it made it a lot more interesting. Don't get me wrong, I would love to read a book where it's just Darcy going "Blood sausages, raw meat, yuuuummmmmm!" (Not really) but I'm glad they expanded the characters they used. The only thing that left me dissapointed was the ending. I wanted it to focus on More...

The beginning of Dreadfully Ever After picks up the story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy four years after the original mash-up ends. The zombies (or as they’re referred to in polite Regency society: the dreadfuls, the unmentionables, the sorry stricken, or the zed words) are still terrorizing the country, but finding herself now the wife of a respectable gentleman, Elizabeth has hung up her katana and throwing stars to lead a life of quiet wedded bliss. It would seem, however, that our favorite kung More...

Dreadfully Ever After is hilarious, romantic and packed full of action... And it has a couple of my favorite things- historical fiction and zombies. I loved this book just like I loved Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Dawn of the Dreadfuls. When we last left Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, they were strolling off to lead a life of happy matrimony spent being in love and slaying dreadfuls together—except for the slaying dreadful together part. Proper, married Victorian women just don’t do that sort of thing, a fact Lizzy detests. However, when Darcy is bitten by a zombie child, Lizzy forgoes propriety and is willing to do anything to save his life—which entails abiding by his cruel, cunning aunt Lady Catherine’s plan to seek More...

I never did like Fitzwilliam Darcy and I like him even less now he's been cured of a zombie bite – whoops, given it all away there . . . ah well, never mind. So here's the deal (I think), someone had the great idea of adding zombies to Jane Austin's saga of new romantics and thus we had Pride and Prejudice and zombies. Which was all well and good and at least gave Fitzwilliam something useful to do other than be aloof. But wait, then came the sequel 'Dawn of the Dreadfuls' (just to keep zombies More...

When the first whispers of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hit the internet, I didn’t even notice. My geeky little clique did, however, and talked about it non-stop from the first announcement. The third book in the series we see Darcy turn into a Dreadful/Unmentionable right from the beginning and Elizabeth hands him over to Lady Catherine De Bourgh who in turn sends Elizabeth to London to procure the antitode.

Elizabeth's sisters and Father join her in the adventure and they find the ill-tempered Scotsman who can get the antitode. With some cunning, flirting and a lot of fighting this story is a lot more complex than the first. The chapters are very well paced, jumping fr More...
