In college, some of my friends and I would entertain ourselves for countless hours by playing a game in which you have to quote the price necessary for you to do a task. For instance, they might ask me how much it would take to let one of them slap me across the face. (probably like 10 dollars) Or for me to take a shot of my own urine--ehhh, probably like 50 bucks. I've read another book not so long ago where the lead female character hooked up with her best friend's boyfriend.
My reaction was:
I was not at all happy with how that one played out.
But with this book it was an entirely different story.
It was put in a way that I liked the lead character despite the fact that she fell in love with her best friend's boy.

No clue what I'm talking about? Well the characters, Lani and Jason, think different kinds of water taste like this. Evian tastes like sky blue triangles and Poland Spring tastes like red circles. Don't believe me, check pages 98 and 99 in the paperback.
If that wasn't ridiculous enough, half of the dialogue between Jason and Lani sounds like it belongs in the seventies. Who says "Far Out" anymore? Oh and Lani talks to...more

I have been waiting to get my hands on Something Like Fate since I got to know that it is more or less similar to The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott, which I truly loved. It was good to read the book and I look forward to reading more by Susan Colasanti.

You can obviously tell what this book is about from the cover. I picked up this book because I saw that some people compared Colasanti's writing to Sarah Dessen. I pretty much got the opposite of what I expected.

I really liked Something Like Fate! It was cute, funny, and thoughtful. I love the way Susane Colasanti writes!!
The way the book was written was so real. Like the way the characters spoke, for instance. It was exactly how my friends and I talk. I've recently read Something like Fate by Colasanti. I recommend this book to anybody who likes romance books. This book taught me some lessons. In life you have trust noone else but yourself. ‘Something like Fate’ is fabulous! It is about a love triangle between to gal pals and an attractive teenage boy. The two girls couldn’t be any more different but they grew up with each other. The boy in this book didn’t really mean to come between the two girls he just realized that the one he was dating wasn’t right for him, but that her best friend would be a better fit. I couldn't finish this book. I read about 50 pages, and then I couldn't take it anymore. I read somewhere that someone said that Colasanti was good at relating to teens. But there were too many instances in this book where it says, "and I was like," or some other thing that a teenage would say. Ok, let me make this clear: we say these things, but it does not mean we think like that. Even if some people think like that, it doesn't mean you need to put it in her head in a published book.

Reading this book was so interesting. I give this 4 stars because threw out the whole book it made you just want to keep on reading. It was about two bestfriends who were always close to eachother and than one of them meets a boy. Someone told me that every story has already been written and it's the author job to make the story unique. This novel is a storyline that's been done many times before and while the author tries to make it unique, she doesn't quite hit the mark.

First and foremost, I have to say that the cover of this book was a perfect choice for the book. It’s one that summarizes the book up with just a picture. Aside from that, Something Like Fate is the first book I read by Susane Colasanti and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not usually a big fan of romance books, but the cover of this one intrigued me and I like to be able to recommend “good” books from a variety of genres, romance included.
