I have found my Christmas gift to Kim. My Family, A Symphony: A Memoir of Global Adoption by Aaron Eske is the book that I think Kim will love to read. This is a moving story of how Aaron was raised with his 4 adopted siblings. In wishing to keep the close bond they had as children, Aaron traveled to the 23 cities across the globe that marked his brothers and sisters origins. He was able to met the people who had taken care of them before they became his family. Visiting orphanages across t More...

Fascinating story, but the author needed a few good editors to sharpen his prose. This read more like a draft than a final copy. (But the content is indeed fascinating--he opens a good dialogue about international adoption and the ethics thereof.)

Would make a great book club book. Not necessarily a bad thing. A sensitive foray into the topic of international adoption from the sibling of several adoptees.

An interesting mix of factual information about international adoption combined with his family's story.

Since the author and I are from the same city in Nebraska, this was a special draw for me. The only biological child in his family, with four internationally-adopted siblings, Aaron provides a frank account of his perspective of his unusual family. He had to travel around the world to learn to really appreciate them and the huge task that his parents had undertaken. Very thought-provoking story.

chose this book due to the international adoption theme and am enjoying it - just started it yesterday afternoon and about 3/4 way done.

Enjoyed the perspective the book took in regard to the sibling of the international adoptees. When the author talked about Ethiopia, I could relate to his descriptions, as it is so beautiful there and being with the orphans there so amazingly heartwarming.
