In Spirit Walker, Book 2 of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, Torak, is among Renn and Fin-Kedinn and their clan when a strange, horrifying sickness comes over them and other clans. Desperate to find a cure, Torak sets off west to the sea to find a remedy among the Seal Clan. He intentionally sets off alone, but secretly wishes Wolf was by his side once again, instead of with his wolf-pack. At the shores of the sea, he is taken captive by Bale, Asrif, and Detlan. His captors take him to an iso

Once again, I cannot fully express the magnificence of this book, or the whole Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series in fact.
It was a great follow up to Wolf Brother. The change in setting really allowed Paver to showcase her superior ability to describe everything in immaculate detail without being boring.
I loved the introduction of new characters, and the unexpected twists. I loved the development of Torak as a character, and the true meaning of his 'power'. I loved how Tor More...

The kids and I are still listening to this together, but I went ahead and finished it while I was working. It is more of the same excellent reading by Ian McKellan and a new adventure for Torac, Renn and Wolf. Only, this time they start out traveling separately with dangers at every turn. I love the perspective of Wolf and how he uses words like "the fast wet" for a river or "the bright beast that bites hot" for fire. Renn is her usual observant self with a strong sense of fo

I just finished reading this one, a few hours ago. TBh, I`ve been waiting to read this since I`ve finished with the first book in the series, the wolf brother.
In this book, we get to know more about Torak and his ability. IT wasn`t a big surprise when the real him was revealed at the end part of this book, cause reading from Wolf brother, I can sense how special this guy was. His character can be compared to Harry Potter in some way. Seeing his interaction with Renn only make me eage More...

Like the first one of the series it involves a demon only this time it possess a human not a bear and takes place in the out of doors of ancient times. The wolf, the boy and the girl all are coming together again although this time the wolf and girl are seeking the boy. The author has a great knack of making you feel a part of the whole adventure in the wilderness and with just a touch of nature as people in those days felt it. She is a very good writer and puts you right in the out of doors. Yo

As I read Michelle Paver's descriptions of the killer whales, I felt like I was back in Hawaii when we were kayaking near a mother humpback whale. She captures the magnificence and mystery of the creatures so beautifully. I wasn't surprised at all to learn that she has actually swum with them.
I guess The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness are fantasy, but then again not really. Granted that it is almost impossible to guess what people were like six thousand years ago, but she does a fa More...

I couldn't put this book down until it was finished. Michelle Paver has such uncanny talent weaving together these spellbounding stories about Torak, Renn, and Wolf. Her incorporation of nature and tribal knowledge create an incredible, ancient-feeling tone, and her plot development is smooth, fluid, and exciting. I was literally thrown out of my chair when I discovered who the real Soul-Eater in this story was...I had been so convinced (Just like Paver had wanted me to be) that the antagonist w

Another thrilling installment of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness! Actually, I found it more exciting than the first in the series which I read several years ago. In this book, Torak thinks he is safe until a strange sickness shows up. Torak, through his search for a cure, and guilt at possibly having caused the sickness, discovers his true identity and destiny. Along the way, friendships are both formed and tested. Recommended for readers 9-14 yrs. who enjoy adventure, stories with anima

It's been a while since I read the first book in this set, so I can't compare them against each other. I did finally find this though and enjoyed it. The three star rating was because I couldn't quite bring myself to giving it four. It was a good story about trusting your friends, and the main character (whose name I can't seem to remember) would have suffered a whole lot less if he had trusted them instead of going off his own gut, and I think we all have that problem in ral life.

The second book in The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series. A mysterious sickness is sweeping the Forest Tribes. When the Raven Clan is stricken Torak decides to head into the Deep Forest to find a cure. Missing the still absent Wolf and leaving Renn behind he heads into the forest. After being told the cure he seeks is at the Sea he is captured by the Seal Clan and taken to their island. There he meets Tenris the mage who offers him the cure. Then Renn and Wolf arrive and try to warn Torak th

Again I really loved this book. It's the second in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series and is another great story involving Torak, Renn and Wolf as their destinies bring them closer to the elusive soul eaters. The attention to detail is what makes this book so enjoyable for me and it's been meticulously researched again.
This is a brilliant read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good adventure story. I'm completely hooked and am already half way through Soul Eater, t More...

There's a disease going through the land. Torak sets off to find a cure and heads to the deep forest. He sense someone is following him but he finds no tracks. Several times he has near death experience. Now he has a feeling that his follower is out to get him. In the deep forest he meets with the forest horse and they send him east. Near the sea he gets captured by the seal clan. All the while his friend Renn and his guide wolf is trying to find him.

In the sequel to Wolf Brother, Torak and Wolf are reunited when Torak tries to find a cure for the disease that is attacking the clans. The setting is six thousand years ago in a country much like Greenland. Torak knows that his father was a famous mage and that he has some of his father's powers. In the course of his search for the cure he suffers the ultimate betrayal by the Seal Clan and discovers his true destiny.

I was soo sad when Torak kept saying that he would most probably never see Wolf again... So I kept having the erge to skip pages to see what happened further on. Then, once I knew what was happening, I went back to my original page, and read on. When I flipped through to see wolf returned, I was SOOOOOO happy, I wanted to keep reading. That resulted in finishing the book in a day. Once again, awesome book!

Torak once again sets out on a journey of danger, discovery, treachery and sacrifice. And, once again, I found myself flying through this book because it utterly fascinated me and I didn't want to put it down until the very last word was read. The compelling plot and well-written characters provide gripping action from the first page to the last. I have to say that, so far, I'm thoroughly enjoying the journey with Torak, Wolf and Renn!

This is the second in a series. Apparently there is a third that I will keep a look out for. Torak lives 60,000 years ago, and in this book he is kidnapped by several members of the SEAL clan, taken to their island, and finds out that the Seal clan mage is not what he appears to be. Luckily, Renn and Wolf made it to the island to help Torak when things got rough.

I really don't know how to describe these books.
I love Michelle Pavers attention to detail and how she obviously researched these things. It's really brilliant.
I honestly can't say anything about this book that'll really do it justice.
Michelle Paver is on par with my favourite author, Darren Shan right now.
Watch out Darren, Michelle's coming.

Wow. Very, very well thought out. I love the plot, who would have expected that eh? ATM im writing my own sort of novel thing and i believe this author is very imaginative. I would have never though of what they'd wrote, very cleverly wrote. I'm now going to sertainly be reading the third book.

an evil sickness, a strange cure??? and torak is only going to try and find it, leaving all he knows behind he wanders the countryside, only to be rejected, only to be captured, but can he find the cure, a good suspence filled book, with dark ideas and dark deeds, a scary childrens story

Just like last time, I just finished this book, and I loved every bit of it. I'm still surprised at how intricate this world and the characters are. Michelle Paver astounds me with her writing. All in all, it's a good book.
I was a little worried about this book, because from the first book, I knew that Wolf and Torak were going to be separated - but Ms. Paver eased my worries by having chapters featuring Wolf, and chapters featuring Renn.
Once again, I cannot wait to read More...

Good. Better than the first one. Some interesting plot, fun adventures, great enlargement of the overall story, good action, and some very satisfying plot twists. There are a few plot holes as well--how did the angry deep forest people know to send Torak to the seashore? But fun series. I'll read more.

So far, this series has been really interesting. It takes place about 6000 BC and has some mystical elements to it. I listened to these on CD while cleaning the house, which makes it go a little slow but sure makes doing the dishes a bit more interesting. :)

This series continues to be interesting enough to keep reading. It takes place about 6,000 years ago and I think the people's relationship with the earth and all of it's creatures is very reverent and sacred. The story keeps you stressed and wanting to know how it will end.

Like the first book, Wolf Brother, this one manages to contain a complete quest while still leaving the door wide open for the next books in the series. The relationships between good and evil are interesting--Torak is deceived by the voice and manner of one character even though his appearance is disfigured and frightening, but readers may be influenced by that stereotype (and by the distrust shown by both Renn and Wolf) more than he is. Again, convincing detail about survival without modern co

I think I liked this one even better than the first. Great series, but a bit dark. Torak and Renn have a special friendship and Wolf is always there when help is needed. Love the relationships and the fight between good and evil.

Btw, Torak gak nyebelin kayak si Potter kok ^^
