Although some of the volumes in this series are good, 500 Vases isn't one of them. The main problem is that being able to throw a pot is one skill, but decorating it is another. Leafing through this book makes you realize that although many potters have the first skill mastered, the second is sorely lacking. Too many of these vases just look dull and unexciting.
A nice collection of vases. You get a nice variety from serious and simple to ornate and even whimsical. They picked a very good sampling that shows the many forms vases can take as an art form. Very nice book to look over. Good example also of the good books this series puts out.
