Underwhelming Arabic Ruritania thriller about sacrilegious statues, with a pregnant heroine constantly whinging about prenatal hormones and her childhood in a foster home. The hero wasn't even all that hot. I guess the scars were supposed to do it for me.

Of course this is NOT PC therefore I am already interested. There is also enough tension to keep my attention and I need lots of tension and conflict.

I'm not normally one for romance novels, but I've started branching out recently, and you have no idea how glad I am I picked this one up. Sometimes, sure, the edges moved a little fast for me to pick up and I had to go reread them again, but I really liked it. The characters were solid-- Karim and Julia have histories I can relate to, histories that give their characters and personalities a solid foundational backstory.
