Tessa Leoni is a state trooper and single mother to six year old, Sophie. The first time Tessa met Brian Darby was at a neighborhood party. It was not long after that Tessa and Brian got married and became a family. So what went wrong? What could cause Tessa to shot and kill her husband? Also, Sophie is missing.
D.D. Warren teams up with her former lover, Bobby Dodge. Together they must fine Sophie before it is too late.

Love You More
by Lisa Gardner
No wonder this who-done-it is on USA Today’s top 10 best seller list. Tessa Leoni is a self-made woman who becomes a state trooper after kicking her alcoholism and giving birth to her beloved daughter Sophie. So it’s more than a little odd when Tessa’s husband ends up dead, apparently by Tessa’s own hand, and her 6-year-old Sophie turns up missing. Despite being the sole suspect in the case, Tessa plans to find her daughter no matter what, even if it More...

This is not my typical type of book, but I enjoyed it! It was an engaging, entertaining read that kept me coming back for more.
It is #5 of a series called the “Detective D.D. Warren series” about a female police detective in Boston who solves mysteries. In this one, D.D. Warren is summoned to work on a mystery in which a female state trooper has apparently shot and killed her husband and her child is still missing. Was it out of self-defense? Was she a battered wife? Did she More...

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher.
I was beyond excited when I found out that I had won an advanced copy of LOVE YOU MORE BY LISA GARDNER after entering to win on Goodreads. I received the copy of the book in late January and being it in the middle of exams it was placed on my bookshelf and saved for later. Lately, when I was looking for new material to read I came across Love You More and deemed it worthy of my attention.

One of the best books I've read this year. This was my Amazon review:
I've been a fan of Lisa's D.D. Warren series for some time, but she's truly outdone herself with this one. It grabs you on the first page and keeps you guessing until the final chapter, moving effortlessly between first person and third person narration, weaving an extraordinary amount of research into nonstop action.

Story Overview
Detective D.D. Warren is presented with a seemingly open and shut case. An abusive husband is found shot dead in his home. The killer? His wife, who claims to have shot him in self-defense (and she has a beating to prove it). However, the case has a few wrinkles. First, the couple’s 6-year-old daughter is missing, and no one (not even the mother) seems to know where she is. Second, the wife, mother and alleged killer is Tessa Leoni, who just happens to work for the Massac More...

I'm not big on thrillers or "women in jeopardy" books or movies (sorry, my friends who like Lifetime movies- you know who you are), but Lisa Gardner's book I Love You More had me tearing through the pages to get to the end of a crackling story.

The best part of this book is the twist and turns, a real roller coaster ride of suspense, surprising clues, and amazing revelations. Truly a fun book to read. I listened to this one and found the rendition excellent. It was read by two women and they both did excellent jobs with their respective parts. Again, the men are always a challenge to a female reader, but I could distinguish between the characters. My only complaint about the D.D. Warren series in general is that I don't find her a very

Reason for Reading: Next in the series.
I just love Lisa Gardner. She is in that list of my favourite mystery/thriller authors and I know I'm in for a good read when I settle down with one of her books. This time around D.D. and her partner Bobby enter the scene of a woman who has been beaten violently, her husband is dead in front of her and their six-year old daughter is missing. Review of "Love You More" by Lisa Gardner
Author Lisa Gardner takes readers on a careening ride of suspense in her latest novel, "Love You More."
What would you do to save your daughter? Fortunately, most of us will never have to face the decisions which Massachusetts State Trooper Tessa Leoni faces as she struggles to save her daughter.

Detective D.D. Warren is in the midst of coping with her own life crisis when she gets a call that turns into one of those "Oh, shit" moments.
Arriving at the home of Massachusetts State Trooper Tessa Leoni, D.D. discovers Brian Leoni in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor, and a bruised Tessa talking with law enforcement officials. It all looks like an open and shut case of spousal abuse that turned deadly. Problem is that six-year-old Sophie Leoni is missing, and Tessa i More...

"Love You More" is impressive. It is a mystery about a mother, Tess, charged with murdering her husband and possibly her 6-yr-old daughter, Sophie, as well. Tess was a real “mother” bear! The Boston police arrest Tess, a state trooper who doesn’t have much faith in cops because of her past experience. Tess lies to the police and devises a plan to find her daughter’s kidnapper on her own and rescue her daughter against all odds no matter what. She had to outfox the police and the b

Love You More (Bantam, March 2011) is Lisa Gardner's latest in a long list of riveting thrillers. It's the story of a State Trooper with a storied background who is accused of killing her husband and the daughter she loves more than her own life. It's told through the eyes of both DD Warren, the detective investigating the case and Tessa Leoni, the accused mother. Gardner allows us pretty much unlimited access to DD's mind, but only Tessa's current thoughts as we the reader sift through the mean

Massachusetts State Trooper Tessa Leoni has a problem. She has been beaten to a pulp, apparently by her husband. He is lying dead on their kitchen floor, with three rounds from her service revolver in his chest. As a topper, her six year old daughter is missing. Boston Police Sergeant D. D. Warren thinks this may be a straight forward case of battered wife kills husband, but why is the daughter missing? Why is Tessa so uncooperative when questioned by the police? Is there something else going on

Though this book is smack in the middle of a series, it reads just fine as a stand alone, and my hat is off to Gardner for that one. This book pits cop against cop. Detective D.D. Warren gets pulled into a murder case that involves a state trooper who shot her abusive husband. It seems a straight up case until it's discovered that the couple's 6 year old child is missing as well. And Tess, the trooper, isn't saying much. This begins a cat and mouse game on multiple levels--Tess has her own a

Detective D.D. Warren is called to investigate what seems to be a fairly straightforward case: a man’s been abusing his wife and she finally has enough and shoots him. Of course, it’s not quite that simple. The shooter in this case also happens to be a state police trooper, Tessa Leoni. And there’s the fact that the couple’s six-year-old daughter is missing.

This was an excellent police-procedural mystery, with interesting ongoing characters and a twisty plot that kept me guessing. The story follows the case of a female patrol officer who is found battered and beaten standing over the body of her husband, who has been shot three times with the officer's own service revolver. Her six-year-old daughter is missing, and the situation turns out to be far more complicated than it first appears.

Love You More is the fifth book in the D D Warren series by Lisa Gardner and a Thriller from Bantam.
Book Blurb:
WHO DO YOU LOVE?
One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter?

Brian, a seemingly loving and devoted husband and father, is found dead in his kitchen. The only suspect - his wife, Tessa, who admits to shooting her husband...in self defense. Her face is battered and bruised, but Detective D.D. Warren isn't falling for the innocent act. Because Tessa is a state trooper and her use of force against her husband seems a little extreme, D.D. begins to question Tessa's story. Tessa seems to say all the right things, but something just seems a little off. To make m

This was a fast read for me as I could hardly put it down. Not surprised. Gardner's novels are usually that way for me. The investigating detectives, D.D. Warren (female) and Bobby Dodge are old friends of ours, if you have been reading her other novels. Both down to earth and likeable. I was happy she included a bit about what is personally going on in their lives and careers. Gardner mentions in her acknowledgements in the back that she doesn't want to dwell on past characters, but these two a

My hat is off to author Lisa Gardner!
Tessa Leoni’s daughter is kidnapped and her husband murdered and the murderer tells her if she wants her child to live she has to go to jail for the murder.
What I appreciated was Tessa was never a victim. She was smart and cunning and not afraid of walking into danger, and not once did she call upon a man to back her up.
Storytellers Kirsten Potter and Katie MacNichol made the characters come to life.

Who do you love? This theme introduces a brave, sometimes tough character named Tessa Leoni, whose husband Brian Darby has just been murdered, and whose six-year-old daughter Sophie is now missing.
