Polly Courtney is a new author to me but after reading about her I found that she has actually wrote 8 books but none of which I have seen whilst browsing the book shelves until I was in my local Library and I was picking out my next selection of books and saw The Fame Factor. Polly has wrote this using her experiences with the music industry and also she has friends who are in unsigned bands so the knowledge she has from this is put into the book which makes the book more realistic.

Does for the music industry what The Devil Wears Prada did for fashion.

By day, Zoë Kidd lives a tedious existence, following orders and trying to appease her parents. By night, she's the raucous lead singer of all-girl rock band, Dirty Money.

For six years, Dirty Money has toured the London scene, playing pubs, clubs, shopping centres and the odd public toilet. They're gifted, they're beautiful and they're determined to make it to the top.

So when the American hit-maker Louis Castle appears at on

Okay read, but main character seemed a little too naive - I'm not English, I'm not a musician, I have put almost zero thought into the mechanics of the music industry and yet I still would have had more of a clue than Zoe. It just didn't sit right, if its your dream to make it big wouldn't you pay at least a little attention to how you get there? Odd. Characters may be a little stereotypical, but the dynamics were the best part of the book, quite human.

An ok all rounder book here, was a bit of a tear jerker at times and I finished it relatively quickly so on these sides yes I enjoyed the book. I've only given it 3 stars as I would say yes I 'liked' the book but no it wasn't 'amazing', it was catchy and definitely made you want to carry on reading until the end but it's not one that I would have missed if I hadn't read it.

Shelves: no-thankyou, ya
This idea has been use so many times that it felt drained, flat and boring.

Polly Courtney is the author of seven novels and is a regular commentator on TV and radio. She rose to fame in 2006 with her semi-autobiographical account of life in the Square Mile, Golden Handcuffs, although it was never her intention to become a writer; she simply wanted to expose the high-flying City life 'for what it really is'.

Having discovered her passion, she went on to write Poles Apart,
