I LOVE Susan Mallery and I love her books. With that being said. I enjoyed reading this short story. And despite the fact that this book is a work of fiction, one can only hope love arrives just in time when we desperately seeking for it and longing for it. That's basically what every woman wants and Susan Mallery knows exactly how to write it. Kinda wish she was the author of "my" love life.
In "Sister Of The Bride" Katie's sister is marrying her ex. The very guy she stole from her own sister a...more

I'm Glad My Siblings Are Brothers
Katie McCormick knows all about the concept of adding insult to injury. Not only is her spoiled younger sister marrying Katie's ex-boyfriend in a four day event that is destined to make her stomach turn, but her mother is pushing her into accepting a date for the interminably long weekend with the son of her mother's best friend. Howie. They'd met once when Katie was thirteen and Howie about sixteen and the scrawny, nerdy brainiac didn't exactly endear himself to...more

I haven't read the series this Novella is connected to and its not on my list to do so. I found this to be really good until the ending. But after reading some Reviews by others I realized that my copy of this book didn't download the last chapter. So I ended up having to download a new copy. I believe I've found another drawback to e-books. You can't peruse them and make sure its all there, course you can't tell if all the chapters are in a tactile book either unless you know how many its suppo...more

Sister of the Bride is a very short sweet read. Katie is briefly mentioned in Chasing Perfect when Charity's new friends have a girls night in and Katie is getting drunk as he sister is marrying her ex.

Katie and Jackson's Mother are best friends and are determined...more

Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery
Katie McCormick sister Courtney had taken her boyfriend Alex from her and their wedding was happening.
She was to get set up with Howie, her moms best friend son who Katie didn't get along with him.
It was only a front for the stay at the hotel for the wedding, and she was the oldest of the daughters.
The hotel was in Fool's Gold, at the Gold Rush Lodge and Spa so I am excited that we will run into the
residents of the town and catch up with their latest news in t...more

Katie McCormick, the sister of the bride, is ready to attend the wedding. I should mention that the wedding is with her former boyfriend and her sister, so looking like she has her personal life in order is a priority right now. Knowing that she’s in a bit of a bind, Katie’s mom, who has been harping on her to meet up with her best friend’s son forever, finally gets her wish. Katie meets up with Howie (he now goes by his middle name, Jackson) at the wedding and the chemistry is immediate on both...more

Everything that can possibly go wrong in this book does from Katie needing a date to this wedding, to her ex trying to seduce her, to her crazy aunt Tully trying to pick up all the men. Katie ends up taking Jackson to the wedding who she met once when they were younger and basically hated each other when they were small.

Now Jackson is older and hotter than ever, driving Katie crazy. Katie also has to contend with her critical family who think she has a weight issue, men issues, and everything in...more

This story was the reason I wanted to read this book. Any chance to re-visit Fool's Gold, California is good times. Here we have Katie McCormick whose sister, Courtney, is about to get married......to Katie's ex-boyfriend! Katie's mother, in the hopes of saving her daughter some pity looks from the extended family that were descending on the wedding convinces her daughter that she needs to have a date, if for no other reason than to quell sympathy looks and questions.

Katie reluctantly agrees to...more

I was intrigued by the set-up for this story in Chasing Perfect: Katie is forced to agree to spend a four day wedding with the geeky boy she hated as a girl. The fact that as soon as they meet, they discover they're both great-looking now and really like each other was a bit of a letdown, with the conflict for the story, what there is of it, mostly coming from wacky wedding high-jinks. But it was a likeable short read.

This was a brief story, I guess a novella, about 2 people who are resisting their mothers' efforts to get them together. They agree to "date"for a wedding where, of course, they fall in love immediately. I enjoyed it at the time, although looking back I don't really remember much substance. I didn't catch much connection to Fools Gold, although it is listed as 2.5 in the series. Cute, fun, enjoyable fluff.

Bought this on my kindle. Amazon said this was 400 pages. Oops. It's not. 70 pages. So this is a very quick read one of those "Love at first sight even though we knew each other a dozen years ago" stories. It's fast. It's cute. It's perfect for a quick trip.

If you like Susan Mallery, you'll like this. And it's one of the rare Mallery books that I've read where someone doesn't end up pregnant.

As far as I know.

Over-the-top crazy families usually both me with their outrageousness - but not this time. This time the family was an excellent and enjoyable complication to this love story. I also LOVED the hero and heroine. Both a little self-concious. So cute.

Loved this shorty!

This is my 2nd time reading this...I wanted to read all of the Fool's Gold books in order. I love it! It's so cute! Yah the story moves fast, it's a novella. It has to. I liked the main characters, liked the plot and enjoyed the funny stuff. great quick read!

Sister of the Bride is a short story about Fool's Gold.... I feel compelled to read the entire series as I love the place so much! Granted I think it is an Utopian Dream, but I love Susan Mallery's stories about Fool's Gold!

Trying to find a way to let my goodreads friends know that SISTER OF THE BRIDE, my story in the SUMMER BRIDES anthology, is available as a free download this week only at Borders! Hope this is an okay way to spread the word.

Take a zoo of a family and two people who hated each other the first time they met, throw in a four day wedding event, and you have some really funny situations. This was just a straight enjoyable read.

In my opinion, this is how a novella should be. It was a complete story line, fun, interesting and not dependent on the rest of the Fools Gold series. I loved the characters, I would like to read this story again and I just finished it yesterday!
Becky Moe
Cute story--a novella, though, so many things were resolved a bit too quickly and neatly. Would have made a good full-length novel. For what it was, though, it was enjoyable.

I *heart* all Susan Mallery books related to Fool's Gold. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. This one, quick read, but so totally packed with sweetness. Great job Susan!!!!
Mary Catherine
Quick and short, an easy read. Nothing special but the secondary characters are a hoot (except Courtney who should get the worst sister award).

Kathryn
cute book. fast read. took me about 2 hours total to read it. no idea how many pages this would have been in reality. :)
Rochelle
This was GREAT...up until the ending. I understand this is a novella, but it was a short and unrealistic ending.

This is such a sweet story. Though the speed of which those fell in love was a bit unrealistic in my opinion but the author made it seem natural. Their romance was so cute and while I don't believe in love-at-first-sight, I enjoy reading about it. I love how the story sets during a disastrous wedding and I like all the quirky family members.

Predictable but very short and sweet. I picked it up when it was free on Kindle awhile back and it was worth the read.

I was quick fun read, finished it in a day, funny and I love this author so all her books are good
