I'm certainly glad I picked this up from the library and didn't purchase it. While many of the cupcakes are neat-looking, it all seemed a bit repetitive and a few were fairly unimaginative. The nail in the coffin for me was the "Mutant Ears" recipe, which consists of making a red velvet cupcake with vanilla frosting and then sculpting small, flesh-coloured ears out of marzipan and plopping them on top. There are no instructions for sculpting these ears other than looking at someone's ear or a pi...more

The main reason why I bought this book was because I wanted the recipe for the "Bleeding Hearts". While there are some other cool recipes like the marzipan beetles and Day of the Dead sugar skulls, most of the recipes are repetitive and lack creativity ("Radioactive Slime" cupcakes has the a radiation symbol made out of marzipan on top of the cupcakes and that's it. The "Ghastly Ghouls" is just lots of white frosting on top of the cupcakes.) Besides the book not being much about zombies, the rec...more

This is the ultimate scary cupcake book. Not for the kiddies! The cupcakes are all very cool and easy to make. Detailed directions are easy to follow. I especially loved the "shattered glass" cupcake and the bleeding hearts cupcakes. So real looking!!!! If you love cupcakes, but want to do a more "grown-up" version, check this book out!

I was super excited to get this book, but sadly I was a bit disappointing. I thought it would be a lot more zombie themed, but it was mostly other macabre. I also feel like the recipes were fairly repetitive with an exception to the decorations. Although, I did like the recipe for sugar glass and the brain cupcakes so I am giving it a three.

This gets 5 stars purely for the simple and awesome vanilla cupcake recipe (which I now use for all cupcakes bases!). Some cakes in there you wouldnt bother making but the burgers and rainbow cupcakes are complete show stoppers at parties! This book will inspire you if nothing else!

I have an edition not listed, but it is a tiny book (5 and 1/2 by 6 and 1/2 inches) in six point font. It's wonderfully gross and rather clever, but not as instructional as it needs to be.

This rating is for the meringue recipe because that is what made me buy this book. I have used it time and time again for RPG game nights, kids parties, and it never gets old.

A great little book which is great for inspiration, and perfect for cooking with kids. Simple, and mostly easy, recipes and ideas make it a winner for me.

Some fantastic ideas for decorating in here. All very straightforward.

Really neat concept cupcakes but kind of hard for the home baker to execute without breaking the bank (red lustre dust, really?)
Elsa
I need me some black rose cupcakes!
