A solid collection of conference papers on public space: the intrusion of corporate interests, privitization, and militarization of space--plus, it avoids much of the posturing of Sharon Zukin's Cultures of Cities about re-working historical materialism.

i read this for my thesis, but its a fascinating account of public space (or lack thereof) in the USA that everyone should read.
