Paris has a certain je-ne-sais-quoi (allure? ambiance? suggestion?) that resonates with people whether they’ve been to the city or not. It’s known for its beauty, storied history, and exquisite cuisine. And, above all else, it has a reputation as a cultural Mecca. Even those who’ve never set foot on the Champs-Elysees feel they have some understanding and familiarity with the City of Lights.

While I’ve read recent memoirs and narratives focused around the city, none have captured Paris like Haro
