These books are a favorite of my brother and I, and I've been reading them to him as often as he let's me (he is 16 after all). They are very nice to read aloud, just the right length and great fun. One thing I'm loving about reading the Chicken, Pig, Cow series of books is that these characters have strong, independent personalities. Mostly, I notice how Chicken is usually contrary, uptight, and irritable. That isn't to say that Chicken is not a lovable, friendly character. He (she?) just has h...more
I love these books--some of the cutest toys with simple adventures that kids can get. I chose this book because I was looking for a book with a horse that I haven't read at preschool storytime, yet. (Goes with "horses" in the "Things You Love" theme.) Ohi's fourth book starring the clay characters of chicken, pig and cow follows the winning formula of vibrant, attractive illustrations coupled with brief text describing their adventures. Chicken is slow to accept horse into their group of friends. He quickly changes his mind when he senses horse needs help. This is a gentle readaloud better suited to small groups or a couple of children than a large audience.
