This was a really cute book about a mothers love toward her child. It doesn't matter what her child is doing or how he is acting, no matter what, she will always love him. I think this book would make a great bedtime story. It reminds children how much their parents really love them. Also, in each scene the child portrays various emotions in which children can relate to as well as learn to distinguish what different emotions look like. I really enjoyed reading this book. It is important for chil...more
This book provides information about emotions; especially love. The author used different emotions to explain how the baby fox feels in the story. She also showed in the book, that the mom loved her child, no matter what happened or whatever mood he was in. This book also help in guiding children to identify their feelings: sad, happy, scared, curious, etc.

This book is talking about a mothers love for her child. It is explaing they way she feels for her child and always love them no matter what they may do.
Talking about a mothers love always gets people intrested. This book portrays the mothers love in a rythmatic way. Using this book with 4 to 7 year olds is a good idea, because that is the time they are exploring the most and sometimes don't know if mom still loves them after they done something wrong. This helps show children that a mothers lov...more

This is another really nice book from an author that I would recommend watching for in the future. Liza Baker makes plain and very clear the absolute nature of love, with the emphasis being on a mother's love for her child but certainly applicable in relation to any form of love, and she does this with an economy of words, words that are beautiful and carry a lot of real, deep feeling. I've really been liking the books of Liza Baker, and I want to read more of them. I'm definitely looking forwa...more
Read this at our mall's book sale awhile ago. Funny how a book can be short and yet has still a lot of impact to the reader.
It reminded me of the days when I was little, when I always turn to my mom. Not just when I wanted to tell on my brothers or when I wanted to cry, but also when I am happy and want to share my feelings with her.
Always love and cherish our parents, both our moms and dads alike. Because as we get older, let's not forget that they also grow old to a great extent with each pass...more

This book was so cute and I think that a mother and child would really enjoy reading this book together. This is one of those books that I think can be more of an adult book than a book for a child. Children need to hear and see that their parents love them however, children do not understand how much their parents actually do love them until they are old enough to understand. The simple message in this book made me think about how much my parents love me and how no matter I do they will always...more
A book about a mother's love takes the reader through a series of situations that may cause a child to believe they aren't loved but in the end they realize that that is not the case. They will be loved forever because of exactly who they are.
A book of rhyming verses, I Love You Because You're You shows that no matter what a person does, they will always be loved by their mother because of who they are. Real life situations are used to portray these feelings to the reader.

I Love You Because You're You is a comforting book that I always wanted my mom to read to me! It is a very simple book that tells a great story. Unconditional love between a mother and her child is one of the most important relationship someone can have. This book reminds me that no matter what I do my mother will love me! I will pass this book down to my daughter and read it to her whenever she is feeling down. My mother gave me my copy and i still have it 18 years later!
Baker, Lisa. I Love You Because You're You. (1999)
Annotation: A mother fox tells her pup that she loves him no matter what and describes all of the ways he sometimes behaves and she loves him every way he is.
Themes: family, love, acceptance
Ways to use with children: you can talk about the why parents love them no matter what they do. If you teach in a religious school you can also talk about how God loves us no matter what we do too.
Recommended ages:0- 8

My wife and I have twin 4 year old girls who have always loved this book because of the way it flows. As they get older, we are finding they are picking this book more and more for thier before bed stories on days when we all don't have the best day together if you know what I mean. I think they want to hear Mommy say she loves them and it's a great reminder for us to remember that no matter what happens we will & do love them forever :)
She says the fox is a cat. I tell her the fox is a fox. The fox, ofcourse, walks up right and wears clothes. That is way more confusing animal behavior, than say being able to tell the difference between a cat and a fox. She also thinks kangroos are cats. I think, for now, her zoological categorization is fine, and we'll instead work on her having a name for me.
In a poem about a Mama Fox's unconditional love for her cub, this story describes the many moods of all children-from happy to frightened, bashful to silly, and more-and will reassure them of their parents' abiding affection and approval.
My good friends sister wrote this book and I always think of her when I read it, my girls love this book!

This is a very cute book. It would make any child feel special. It would be a sweet book to read to a child on their last day of school or as a loving parent. The book is repaticious and would be great for a young reader or a beginning reader. It is just the sort of book that would give a new reader confidence.
Great book for children to discover emotions. Also, it shows that things aren't always perfect and peachy; a very important lesson for children. The book ends on a good note that results in a warm smile. I recommend this book for k-2 but great read for all children.
This is a wonderful book to share with parents for their kids or to share with your kids at the end of the year before they move onto the next grade.
This is the story of how a mother loves everything her little child does. She loves him because he is unique.

Supposedly cute and tender; I found it borderline trite. Nothing new here and definitely nothing spectacular.
Sure, a mother loves her child . . . the rhymes were forced and not stellar.

Cute, poetic love story between mother and child. I would use this story for kindergarten-second graders when teaching about poems. It could be used as a model for poem structure.
I Love You Because You’re You. It’s the perfect message of unconditional love that we can share with our little ones. What a wonderful way to express exactly what we want to reinforce with our own little ones. I absolutely adore this book.
