All I can think to say is that I loved it. I cried more times than I'd like to admit while reading this book. Susannah always knew who Belly would marry. If only Susannah had known how she would get there! This book started out STRONG. And I mean chest clenching, life altering strong. I've never smiled and cried so much in my life.

I have immensely enjoyed the first two books in Jenny Han's Summer Series. They are a bit fluffy and full of ANGST and DRAMA and produce the occasional 'eye-rolling moment from me ~ but they are also charming and nostalgic and summer-y and somehow authentic to the teen voice. I found them utterly compelling and deliciously addictive curl-up-in-the-sun summer goodness. Good times.

I feel so let down by this book.

Let's get one thing straight. It was definitely the weakest out of the three.

Belly has finally matured, and it has been truly wonderful seeing Belly transition from a young girl to the lady she is today. I feel like I grew up with her. And that makes her a little extra special for me. Meanwhile, we finally get to see things from Conrad' POV! Finally!!

But the more I thought about it, the more authentic Jenny Han had created her. I remember the summer I turned pretty. I remember my summer boyfriend and he will always hold a special piece of my heart. I was also an awkward girl suddenly in a pretty teenagers body. A lot like Belly.

So here we are now at the end of Belly's freshman year at college. Conrad is absent, Jeremiah is in a frat house and he and Belly are still best friends who date. She's survived her first year of college and things are pretty good. She and Jere go to a frat party that is out of control. Someone spills a drink on her, she hunts down a bathroom and overhears Lacey talking about a foray she had with Jere in Cabo, when he and Belly were on a Rachel and Ross break. Belly freaks out and then Jere freaks out and tells her the truth. They had sex.

Lots of crying, not speaking, texting, more crying and finally Jere is invited to Belly's room. He proposes. She accepts and then the drama really begins. They meet with opposition from parents (age and lack of education), no money, do the whole wedding prep, all that jazz. Con is strangely silent but a couple of chapters are written in his POV which adds a new dimension to Conrad. The story plays out the mother/daughter dynamics of wedding preparations, brother of groom who loves the bride dyanamics, and best friend dynamics. All uncomfortably accurate.

The problem I forsaw with this series is that, at some point, Belly would have to choose between brothers. I couldn't see a happy ending. Jenny Han does an exceptional job at playing out the relationships between all the parties. The ending is satisfying, a little bitter sweet but mostly happy. I didn't feel sad for any of the characters in the end. Okay, maybe a little bad but, like I said, it was satisfying.

Will it be Jeremiah? Conrad? Some stranger? You can find out on the very last page but you won't be satisfied unless you read the whole book. It's the journey that makes the story. Loved it.(less)

Han is not untalented. There are passages, even chapters, filled with lovely writing full of nostalgia for childhood and summer. Unfortunately, a book cannot ride on a few passages of lovely writing. For me, a book rides on characters and all of the character's in Han's book are essentially assholes. They're all meant to be something better than that, but Han lacks the skill as a writer to do little more than attempt to paint an asshole with a can of paint labeled "cute." I really wish someone would actually own the fact that their characters are jackasses instead of dressing them into something they're not. Maybe if Han had embraced her severely flawed characters instead of covering them up I could have liked the book a great deal more.

Belly: I wish I could say I wanted to slap her, but I just stopped caring about her altogether after the second book. The two boys she's trapped between pick and chose who she's going to be with like she's the last piece of chicken at dinner. She plays right into their hands. One brother is done with her -- never mind she'll kiss the other and it'll be groundbreaking and earth shattering for the next fifteen minutes or so, which is just enough time to justify her switching boys but not enough time to completely kill the love triangle!

Belly is selfish and childish through the whole series although she allegedly grows up -- I don't know where. I missed that shit. Her relationships with other people seem to be based around what they can do for her or her feelings of superiority to them. Boring, shallow, and not the brightest lightning bug in the jar.

Jeremiah: His characters was amazingly flexible based on whatever plot point Han needed to accomplish. He was either Belly's tenderhearted summer buddy or just another boy who constantly ignored her. He was Belly's white knight or some turd who cheated on her during spring break. It was astonishingly inconsistent writing, but that doesn't matter because he wasn't the big love interest and who cares if his character was sacrificed to make that happen.

Conrad: I don't even know where to begin. He's another one who morphed with the plot of the book, although his personality changes weren't so epic as Jeremiah's. He sacrifices his relationship with Belly when he's eighteen because his mother asked him to take care of his brothers, but somehow that no longer matters two years later after barely seeing or speaking to Belly (while dating other people himself) and now he suddenly can't handle the idea of them being together. In a letter his mother claims the only time she ever saw Conrad in love was with Belly. Of course, he treated her like crap the entire time and that's totally the definition of love.

The Summer series is dedicated to a romance that happens on the last page and mostly off screen. We get the misunderstandings and the characters with the wrong people without ever actually having them together or seeing them come together in any real way. All the important notes were aimed for and missed.

The books were inconsistent at best and mostly just ridiculous. I don't know why people feed girls the idea guys like Conrad are somehow more romantic. I will never freaking get it. Interrupting someone's wedding is a movie fantasy and in real life it's the opposite of an expression of love. If ANYONE takes that long to tell you they love you in real life, trust me, they don't love you. The guy who comes chasing after you the moment you really move on is not worth your time.(less)

Words cannot even begin to describe how mad I am after reading this book. I fell in love with the series since the first book came out, but now I can't believe it ended the way it did. WE’LL ALWAYS HAVE SUMMER gave me the ending I had been rooting for since the first book, but it did so in a way that, I think, unfortunately sacrificed characterization and reader sympathy.

Two years pass between the end of the second book and the beginning of this one, but I was shocked at how poorly most of the characters acted. Not only was it their actions that made me cringe, it was also their flatness: I felt like the three-dimensional, flawed, but still lovable characters from the first two books regressed into petulant children by this installment. Jeremiah, Belly, Conrad, and all the adults felt like they were playing the roles of good boy/bad boy, good parent/bad parent, unsubtly manipulating our sympathies toward them so that we can be happy—nay, relieved—at the ending. And that definitely made me feel cheated, cheated that I, as a reader, was not trusted enough to be happy for Belly and whichever guy she ended up with.

And then: the marriage. It’s not that I’m against teen marriage—okay, I am, but in literature I’m willing to go with whatever the character wants…so long as it’s written convincingly. I felt like everything in this book happened too fast. Yes, I know that Belly and Jeremiah wanted things to go fast—but does that mean the story had to be told in what felt like a slapdash manner, with people running around frantically trying to coordinate things, only to have them fall into place perfectly at the last minute thanks to some “divine” (read: nice parent) intervention? Does that mean that tensions and arguments could arise seemingly randomly, and then settled without a problem a few chapters down?

Still, props for finishing up a really good YA contemporary series. Basically, it wasn’t that I had a problem with what happened in this book; rather, I had some issues with HOW this story was told. This evidently wasn’t a problem for the majority of bloggers who loved this final book!(less)

I recommend this book to girls, that enjoy romance because even though it's more of a "mature" level book it's interesting because it makes you want to know who she picks in the end!

I am currently reading a book called We'll Always Have Summer, by Jenny Han. So far I like the main character, as everyone calls her, Belly. Even though she was really mean to her boyfriend at a certain time, it was because he "cheated" on her. They were going through tough times and over the broken up period, he assumes it was all a mistake. I believed that they made a good couple and that they were perfect. Now I am getting the feeling that she might go for Conrad. Either way, I hope she makes a good decision. I mean, if we weren't officially broken up, and my boyfriend hooked up with another girl, you shouldn't give him another chance right off the bat. Make sure he is actually sorry and that he stills cares and loves you. I really like this book and can't wait to see who she chooses and if Jeremiah wants a 2nd chance.

So far whats going on in this book is the main character forgave her boyfriend and they are getting married. But her mother doesn't approve because she is still in college and is too young to get married. I think I would agree with her mother because you should focus on 1 thing at a time, (in this case school). Also the mother should talk it out and at least try and come to an agreement. I am really enjoying this book because I am kind of picky with books but this one is my type because I enjoy the genre of romance and realistic fiction plus it's really detailed, you can paint a picture in your mind. I am excited to find out what happens because on the cover it looks like the main character wearing the wedding dress the author described and it looks as if she had ran off and ditched her wedding! I wonder if she falls in love with her fiancé's brother. This book is great!

Currently the main character, Belly is staying at a family beach house with her fiance's brother. It is really akward for the both of them because, he (the brother Conrad) is in love with her and she does't know it. She is about to marry his brother so he has to act fast and tell her! And it's akward for Belly too because well, she kind of knows he has a small crush on her, the little hints and stuff. What I think is going to happen is he is going to object at the wedding, tell her he loves her, then she is going to marry neither of them, (sadly). I don't know but I really like this book. I think it is really good because you could go any where with the ending, it's countless! It's one of those books that makes you want to read till the end!

If I had to choose my favorite character, it would probably be the main character, Belly. I chose her because she is really similar to me, for example we both have brown hair, both have 1 sibling, a brother, also we love to spend time with our family. She seems average in school, but if there is a test, she studies. Another thing, she has some friends at her college that are really nice, and I have friends at school that are nice. What's happening is she is trying to decide if marrying her fiance is the right choice, or be with his brother. At the same time she is dealing with her parents who are against her marrying ANYONE since she is too young. (less)

I liked this book, despite the inner, nagging part of me that said not to. The thing is, I’ve grown up with The Summer I Turned Pretty series. I know I've mentioned this before, but I don't like Contemporary novels. Even now, every time I read/hear about a contemporary novel, I cringe & stop hearing/reading because truth is: I'm scared of them.

I'm scared of the hard truth: that there's a world out there WITHOUT magic & dream & cute vampires/werewolves/angels/demons (I think that covers all tastes & colors).

This was a really good book. To be honest, it wasn't as good as the first two, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. I thought the setting was lovely and some of the characters were really wonderful. Taylor is, in my opinion, one of the best friends in YA fiction.
One problem I did have with the story, however, is Conrad and Jeremiah's characters. In the last book, "It's Not Summer Without You", Conrad was very much portrayed as the bad guy, and Jeremiah the good guy. In this book, they made Jeremiah so...more This was a really good book. In this book, they made Jeremiah sort of the sleazy, cocky kid and Conrad the misunderstood mushball. I think that this was done poorly. Jeremiah was never before shown to have such bad qualities as he did in this book, and Conrad's "perfectness" seemed to come out of nowhere. We needed a build-up, not a random character twist to better the plot.
Now, Belly. Her character is a tough one. Honestly, I think she is sort of annoying. I don't understand why two wonderful guys would tear apart their family and give up everything to be with her. Hang on. I've heard this storyline before. Brooding, misunderstood guy and happy go-lucky guy...Twilight, anyone? And, as in Stephenie Meyer's constantly criticized novels, Belly (like Bella) chooses (view spoiler). Humph.
And then, Belly and Jeremiah's engagement? Come on, people! Belly is a reasonably smart girl (let it be known that I did say reasonably). She would never go ahead and make plans as stubbornly as she did if she even opened her eyes for two seconds and saw how concerned her entire family was for her. *eye roll* I get so tired of YA fiction heroines making such stupid decisions and then not learning from them. Why can't we have a smart, well-rounded heroine in a tough situation, making the RIGHT choices?
All in all, I really did like this book. I did. It's not exactly the most brilliant ending to the series, but it's decent and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. (less)

Belly has been with Jeremiah for two years. They are the cutest couple and everything is perfect. Until it's not. As their relationship takes a turn for the worst, Belly has to figure out her feelings for him before they make it for forever.

Conrad screwed everything up with Belly. He thought he was doing the best thing for both of them when he pushed her away. He gave his brother the go ahead to be with her. All he wanted was for Belly to be happy. Now he knows what a huge mistake he has made.

I FREAKING LOVE THESE SERIES OF BOOKS HAHAH MYGODDD

I think these series are like, my favorite series in the non-supernatural department, which is indeed saying a lot.

Before I read the book, I had a feeling that at the end of the book, it's going to be Conrad. It's always been, and the first love is always hard to forget. I would also choose him in the end if I was Belly, no matter how sweet Jere is. (goddamn she is freaking pretty!:D)

I was lucky enough to be able to read the book before publication thanks to the Simon & Schuster galley grab!
The book took me on a whirlwind of emotions and didn't let go until I finished a few hours later. No matter what team you ship I think everyone will be satisfied. At the end of the book I came to understand everyones motivations and choices which is all the reader could ask for. As always Jenny Han handled everything beautifully and I think she will leave fans happy.

Before: OH ME GOD! The cover is perfect and beautiful! I can't wait!

After: I don't even know where to start. I got this book for my birthday, and the moment I began it, I couldn't stop. I had planned to savor it and read about five chapters per night, but as soon as I started I went on until 1:30 on a school night just so I could finish it.

I laughed, I cried, I held my breath, and during parts my heart went out to Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Jenny Han could make the chemistry between the characters come alive without even a single kiss between them, it's amazing. This book series has been one of my favorites ever since I read the first novel, and is one of those rare series where I loved every single book and I could never predict which boy Belly would end up with in the end.

The book begins with Belly having just finished her freshman year in college, and having now been with Jeremiah for two years. After she learns about a horrible mistake that Jeremiah has done, she has to ultimately decide between him and Conrad. One thing I loved about all the books in the series is how you can really see the growth, and maturing of each of the characters. The Summer I Turned Pretty was light, and Belly was just another lovestruck, dreamy teenage girl. In It's Not Summer Without You, the reader can see a different side of all the characters as they come to deal with Susannah's death. This last one We'll Always Have Summer, we finally see the maturity in Belly and her actions, and finally get to really know Conrad, Jeremiah, their flaws, and the reasons behind their actions in the past. The journey that the reader is able to experience in following these characters really allows you to connect with them.

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this book. The only thing I hated, I had to finally say goodbye to Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. You will want to read this book. I really hope that Jenny Han will consider writing another book for this series, even though I know that's probably not happening.(less)

I am in love with this book. It's just WOW. That's all I can think to say about it. This is Jenny Han's third and final installment of The Summer Series. Ok I officially finished reading this a couple of weeks ago but of course it was so good that I had to re-read it right away (and then re-re-read lol). So that is why this review is a little late.

My first thought after finishing We'll Always have Summer was 'WOW.' Overall this book was great. I loved and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes a good teen romance. Of course I did have some issues with this book but those issues were not significant enough to change my opinion overal...more
