This book was written in a style I wish more travel books were: engaging, entertaining, exceptionally informative and with good humour.

While from 1995, and therefore out-of-date in terms of transport and accommodation, the in-depth historical information puts many of the more recent travel guides to shame. Lebanon gets a shorter treatment than Syria, and while I would've preferred more detail, I cannot highly recommend this book enough for those planning a trip as I am.
