It only gets a four because I'm not sure where I stand with this whole love triangle. I'm a hardcore Morelli/Steph fan (who can appreciate Ranger but doesn't want Ranger with Steph for many reasons) and am getting a little tired of the walking out on Morelli because they disagree. I'd love to see Morelli finally get tired of the whole thing and date someone else, forcing Steph to realize what the hell she wants.

In terms of this particular book, I was getting a little frustrated with More...

This one is worth reading for the batcave alone. Seriously. Stephanie breaks into Rangers apartment and hides out there to keep safe from the gang that has targeted her. It breaks down the mystery of Ranger in a lot of ways - and yet not. He becomes less phantom and more Man in this book - which is welcome. I think his becoming more real makes his a bigger threat to Morelli and Stephanie's relationship.

For those that haven't gotten my 50 positive reviews for these books at the same time: Laugh out loud funny, a real treat. LOVE these books... Got into them last year as I was moving into my house. Between painting EVERY wall in the place and staying up late reading these books, I was sore all over and tired, but I had a great time doing it.

This book finds Stephanie losing yet another car to a fire bombing incident... She is then the target for a local gang and must find a place t More...

This is the tenth installment (obviously) of Stephanie Plum's misadventures. In this one, she tangles with some dangerous street gangs and her life is in serious danger. Although, I like this series, I'm becoming increasingly irritated with Stephanie. Well first I will have to say I'm on Team Morelli and I want her to grow up and stop acting like a child. Joe wants her to settle down with him and for her to get a less dangerous job--or none at all. He threw out the suggestion of 'housewife' t More...

I've enjoyed all 10 books of this series. I MIGHT do 11... but that would be it for me. First book started in mid-90's and I think this one is still in the 90's even though cell phones, GPS, and airport security sound more like the current century. Also, her hamster is still alive and started at 3 y.o. -I know! Stupid details!!! But they bother me! The biggest reason I'm done is because I don't feel that the main character, Stephanie, isn't growing at all. The characters & story line are static: More...

There really wasn't any mystery in this one at all. Stephanie is being targeted to be killed by a gang. That's it. And obviously, since there are four more books, she manages not to get killed. There's nothing really unclear about it other than why exactly they're targeting her, but even that is waved away at the beginning of the book by an off-hand comment about gangs not really needing a reason to do anything.

I think this book, tenth in the series, is where the series really st More...

Stephanie Plum, a Trenton, N.J., bounty hunter, accompanied by her trigger-happy friend Lula, an errant file clerk, is after a quirky collection of bail-jumpers—a man who killed a neighbor's rosebushes relieving himself on them, a drag queen musician/school bus driver accused of assault, and a woman who claims she robbed a Frito-Lay truck because she hated her low-carb diet—when she witnesses a convenience store robbery. Unfortunately, Anton Ward, the holdup man, learns that Stephanie can identi More...

She's accidentally destroyed a dozen cars. She's a target for every psycho and miscreant this side of the Jersey Turnpike. He mother's convinced she'll end up dead...or worse, without a man. She's Stephanie Plum and she kicks butt for a living (well, she thought it would sound good to put it that way...)

It begins as an innocent trip to the deli-mart, on a quest for nachos. But Stephanie Plum and her partner, Lula, are clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. A robbery leads to a More...

-This is the 10th Stephanie Plum novel. I’ve read some but not all of the novels leading up to this one. Keep that in mind when reading the review.

Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter from Jersey, and not a particularly good one. She claims that trouble follows her, and though there is truth to that, she tends to make reckless decisions, like going into gang territory trying to ID a gang member after witnessing a robbery. While I often want to throttle her for these moves, it would not More...

Just "Plum" funny, with a little plot to go with her !!

We're a fan of the whole Evanovich bounty hunter Stephanie Plum series. When we in the past read a few too many of her stories too close to each other, they all started to run together and the fun wore off. But we had to wait awhile for "Ten", which to us finds Plum back in good (and funny) form, with her usual problems bringing in her bond skippers despite help from her friend and co-worker Lulu. Sister Valer More...

Just listened to this as an audio book that I got from a BookCrossing CD Book Box.

I'm a relative latecomer to actually reading the Plum books. I read the first one years ago, but I think Grandma Mazur struck a little too close to home, where we had our own brand of eccentric old lady living with us. I managed to release almost all the numbers, but didn't read any of them.

Then Bumma, our own dear live-in grandma (who was more likely to tote a book than a gun, but still More...

You get an inkling of how awesome this book is when there is a car death pretty much right at the start. Honestly, if I was Stephanie's insurer, I'd flat out refuse to insure her.

Whilst this obviously the tenth in the series, it doesn't matter if you're a newcomer because as always, there are quick introductions to who everyone is meaning that you can just step right in. Those familiar with the series obviously already know and can get more out of it.

This book covers so m More...

TEN BIG ONES is the tenth book in the hugely popular Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

This time Stephanie is in more trouble than ever as she becomes the focus of local gangs, who plan to hunt her down and kill her. In between avoiding the gangs Stephanie becomes deeper in her lusting for Ranger and trying to define her relationship with Morelli.

I'm not sure I would define TEN BIG ONES as a cozy mystery as there was no real "murder mystery". There were murde More...

This book was so far my least favorite. It was good that she finally gets that she is in danger and needs to hunker down a bit. Even though she and Morelli go into another 'off again' spell . . . it is not truly off again. I would like to think he gets she left to keep him safe as well as she left because she knows she drives him crazy with her willingness to walk into dangerous situations. I do have to say that Lula talking Steph into doing stupid stuff is really crazy making at times. At More...

I found myself bored with this book. It took me a long time to get in the mood to actually read it. I felt the same way about "To the Nines." I think it was because I read "Visions of sugar Plums" and almost threw up at how stupid it was. To take such an outrageous yet reality grounded character as Stephanie Plum and put her in a world of super humans who can create lightening, and other strange things ruined it. So reading that left a sour taste in my mouth going into the 9t More...

My ratings system is as follows. One star is GOOD. The book is entertaining, easy to read and you don't want to stop reading because something about the book is compelling you not to. Two stars is GREAT! This time the story is not only entertaining, but highly creative, unique, easy to read and hard to put down. Three stars is EXCELLENT. Here the book has all aspects of one and two stars, but now the book is thought and emotionally provoking. Four is AWESOME. This is the read that is not onl More...

Ten Big Ones is your average Stephanie Plum novel. The one thing that pushed the book past mediocrity was the ending. I loved the ending. It was one of those never saw it coming, awesome surprises. Probably the best ending of the first ten books.

Stephanie leaves Morelli (yet again). This time she's claiming it's for his safety. In fact, Stephanie seems to be trying to keep herself out of danger this time around. She's not as bumbling as usual and it's about time. She's still not grea More...

I have to admit, this one wasn’t one of Evanovich’s best effort!

The story’s not bad – Steph and Lula are at the wrong place at the wrong time and all of a sudden she’s the target of a gang!

I’m not sure where she’s going with the various characters. I like the way Morelli is developed and grows from book to book, though the sex thing is getting a bit boring. Steph is Steph though without her feistiness (I think I already mentioned that in the previous book) and is getting More...

The school bus and school bus driver might have been my favorite parts of this episode (because I drive a school bus and had a great time with the far fetched ideas of this drivers behavior and heroicism). Also because he choose to use an Uzi instead of an AK47 (for school bus security) both because it fit under the seat better and because it accessorized better (whatever that means).
I also loved the humanity of Carol the (cheese)doodle addict. She stole a whole truck load of doodles, an More...

I know people love these books, but I just don't get it apparently.

I keep listening to these because I got them all from the library and it's the only thing I have while I'm cleaning and working on Christmas presents, but I have to say that with every book, I get more annoyed with Stephanie Plum. In any other book people would consider her TSTL. Someone is trying to kill her, someone who has already killed 3 people including a police officer, so she takes a stun gun to her body guard More...

If your personal ad reads something like “SWM seeks literate MWF for book chat and maybe more” then I have just the hook for you. Walk around with a Janet Evenovich paperback. It really doesn’t matter which one, they all have bright colors and the EVANOVICH name in a distinctive font.

I have had more women say something to me like “Oh, you’re reading one of her books” which inevitably leads to a conversation about how funny they are and “don’t you find yourself laughing out loud?” I More...

This one really didn't cut it for me.

I was able to put it down, and actually read FOUR books in between picking this one back up again! That's saying something!

Usually, I read this series lickity-split, but this one just could not hold my interest! Stephanie's up to her old ways and always finds trouble, but this one had no plot to it. This gang is after her, for NO REASON.

I was a little disappointed by this book. I've loved all the others up to this one and will continue on with the series but this one seemed tedious. There was enough humor and unusual antics that we all love about Stephanie. But the love triangle thing is getting old. Stephanie is in her 30's, it's about time she stop acting like a lust- struck teenager every time she sees or thinks about Ranger. Ranger's cool, but he's obviously not long term commitment material. Its about time she admits that More...

Well, this latest (for me) adventure of Stephanie and her goofy family and equally goofy friends (this time Sally, the cross-dressing musician/school bus driver is center stage) and steamy love interests Morelli and Ranger, is, while entertaining, not up to the quality of Ms. Evanovich's previous Plum books. The main theme is that Stephanie ID's a member of the Slayers, a street gang in Trenton, and now is marked for death by a professional assassin. There are, of course, some funny moments (Val More...

I absolutely hated this Stephanie Plum book; wish I could've given it zero stars. I've read 1-7 in the series and this was available at the library so I grabbed it. They have been brain candy for me and I would laugh along at Stephanie's hare-brained misadventures. This book was a parody of Stephanie--let's see how stupid she can be. Another great book! I thought by now I would be tired of Stephanie, but I'm really not! I can't wait to read the next book in this series, although I will admit that about every 2 books in this series I have to take a break and read something else so I don't tire of Stephanie Plum.

Stephanie is in danger. Somebody wants her dead. Somebody who is very capable of making her dead. Ranger and Morelli to the rescue. They go all out, each in his own way, to protect her.

Stephanie has various misadventures with Lula while attempting to apprehend various quirky bond-jumpers.

Why do I read these trashy novels? I read them like I eat popcorn during a good movie. They are all the same, but so enjoyable at the same time. My IQ (if I have one) drops points with each page I turn. I love the Ranger/Morelli dilemma. I love the description of her powder blue buick and how it runs, how it never gets ruined. All her cars explode. I find myself giggling while reading. Her Grandma Mazur! The drag queen, non-gay Sally Sweet in the sequenced dress driving the school bus f More...
