this was always one of my favorite ghosts of fear street covers. and upon re-reading this one, I discovered it was just as good as I remembered it to be. it's been a long long time since I've read these books but in the past few years I've been making an attempt to re-read as many as possible for nostalgic purposes ♥

I think what made this one so creepy (and what made so many of the kiddie horror novels from the 90's so creepy) was the lack of parental involvement. the kids are all latch key kid
I didn't have high hopes for this one. Loved to read it when I was a kid, but being a kid, I didn't look for high quality, so... I expected this to be nauseatingly terrible - a bit like the cover promises. It wasn't that bad at all. Up to half of the book I would have given this one 3 stars, but sadly in the second half it lost even its mediocrity.
Too bad. Still, I don't feel like I've completely wasted my time...

As I've already explained in a previous review, I am currently reading and reviewing some of Stine's stuff because of a deal I made with my much younger sister. It gets her to read and lets me relieve the glory days of Goosebumps; I can see no downside to our arrangement.

I figure myself a connoisseur of sorts in regards to Stine. As a kid, I read literally every book he ever put out. Revisiting some of them now, I see obvious differences in craftsmanship along the way. This one falls into middle
