Every child is different, but if you have boys that are between 6 and 12 that love scary stories, they will probably love Goosebumps books. My younger son might have even been 5 years old when I first started reading the books to him. My kids will hang on me and beg me to keep reading even after reading several chapters.

R.L. Stine does have a formula to his stories, but they are not predictable. Goosebumps and Goosebumps: Horrorland are written for that 6-12 age group, so if you have an older ch...more

This is the 3rd book in the long running Goosebumps series. It is one of my favorites. This book is about a kid named Evan Ross. His mother leaves him at his deaf aunt Kathryns while her and Evans father go to Atlanta to look for a new house. When Evan arrives aunt Kathryn answers the door with a bloody knife in her hand... Evan is terrified and he finds out she was just cutting up some beef. He explores his room and discovers nothing but the smell of mothballs and some old books on science. He...more

Perhaps kids just don't recognise a formula. It's something that R.L. Stine has no problem exploiting. Monster Blood is the third book in the series and it really didn't appeal to me. It starts off with a young boy being left with a strange deaf aunt, as his parents go off looking for a new house. Perhaps living in a strange new place is genuinely scary for children. He soon ventures around this new town and meets a nice young girl that serves as his sidekick. They go to a toy store and find a s...more

Evan's father has been transferred to Atlanta, so Evan has to stay with his great-aunt Kathryn, while his parents look for a new house. His great-aunt is completely deaf, refuses to learn sign language or to lip-read, and is, in his father's words, a bit weird.

It's not all bad, though. When he takes his dog, Trigger, for a walk, he meets Andrea--Andy. She's twelve, like him, and they share a sense of humor, so they become fast friends. While looking around a toy store, they find a can of 'Monste...more

This book is called Monster Blood. It is written by: R.L Stine.
The book is about this kid named Evan. He needs to stay in his great aunt´s house Kathryn because his parent need to go to Atlanta to do something. Kathryn is a very weird person. She makes a lot of sugar cookies an she is alergic to animals. Evan has a dog named Trigger so he had to tie Trigger up in the back yard. When Evan enters the house, Kathryn told him to not enter the room across the hall. Evan is a very curious person so he...more

It's funny, I remember not really being too crazy about Monster Blood when I was a kid, and reading it over again, I absolutely loathe it. The Goosebumps series started out very strong and promising with Welcome to Dead House and Stay Out of the Basement but this one was just plain stupid, I hate to say.

Evan is forced to stay with his weird great aunt Kathryn while his parents are in Atlanta. He buys a can of Monster Blood at a dusty old toy store and the shit Monster Blood hits the fan from th...more

This book is about Evan who has to stay with her Aunt Kathryn, where he makes a new friend. later, he chances upon an old toy shop where he spots a dusty tin of monster blood. Intrigued, he takes it home, oblivious to the dangerous consequences that would ruin his life...forever?

Before anything else, this was my first book and I liked it, at that time. Not much, just a little, but enough to make me read another book which led to yet another and now I can't stop reading books. So, I want to thank...more

Evan goes to stay with his weird aunt katyryn in a family emergency, although he knows his aunt doesn't like him, and he doesn't want to go at all. His aunt is deaf, and she cannot hear anything he says, so that makes it easier. on the first day, him and his dog, trigger go out for a walk, and they meet this girl who lives nearby named andy. They go to the store together and evan finds something called Monster Blood. They think that it is pretty cool, so Evan buys it and his dog likes it so muc...more

Honest To Blog I felt like this book literally took years off of my life. This one is definitely in the "Oh. This is an awful concept." Goosebumps books category. And there are a few of them. Its only a few, but they are there.

Monster Blood, after reading it again, is really just an evil flubber. An evil flubber with no back story. An evil flubber with extensive unanswered questions about it. Like who and the hell is this witch turned cat Sarahbeth? Where did she come from? Why did she cast a s...more

A story of Flubber gone evil. :-)

True to RL Stine's writing, leaving a cliff hanger at the end of many chapters. I finished this in nearly one sitting, and when I do that, I noticed that the cliff hangers are getting a little boring/too much, but then I realized that many kids at a young age or parents reading to their kids would finish at the end of the chapter, so it's nice to leave the cliffhangers there, close the book and wait and see what happens next.
That's probably why the stories has g...more

I liked this book because it had a lot of suspence to it. An example is his parents were looking for houses in Atlanta and had to leave him with his great aunt that is deaf. He didnt know how to communicate or play any video games or watch T.V. at her house. How was he going to spend two weeks with a deaf old lady? Also there was a lot of interesting parts in the book. An example of this is he bought this Monster Blood from the store and while he and his friend were playing with it his dog ate i...more

The ending was a little too scifi for my taste, but stil good and thats what I like about these Goosebumps books the author takes something really dumb like playdo and gives it life.....not exciting at my age, but he writes the characters so well and has so many events happening that it keeps you glued to the book.

I don't judge books by their cover, but I sure do judge by their title and this book did not catch my interest at all. I was so disinterested that I thought about skipping this one an...more

Evan is sent to stay with his strange Great-Aunt Kathryn while his parents look for a house. He didn't want to, but his parents said they had no choice.
Evan eventually meets a girl, Andy, who soon becomes his friend. In town they go to the local toy store and Evan finds this can of stuff called Monster Blood.
Andy and Evan have fun playing with the Monster Blood at first, but soon it starts acting strange -- it seems to be growing and the friends have no idea what to do.

This one was quite good. I...more

Despite my rating, i'd give this two and a half stars

This one is a mixed bag. On one hand, Evan is a whiny bitch. he never shuts up in the first half. On another hand, Andy is awesome, the story is actually well done, the monster blood itself is cool, and Sarabeth is a badass villain,. Infact…I think Evan is the only really bad part of this book. It’s mostly fun, and the villain is cool. In the second half, it gets enjoyable and Evan mostly shuts up. So the first half is annoying, and the rest i...more

Goosebumps was so popular when I was a kid, we would get in fights in the library over who got to check the new one out next. No joke.

To start off, yes I feel REALLY bad for giving a Goosebumps book a one star rating.

I read this book to my son, Zachery. Now, maybe five is a bit young to be interested in a Goosebumps book. But, he was really excited before we started this book. This is the second chapter book I read to him and the first one was aimed for kids a bit younger as it had pictures (Trolls, Go Home!). But, I thought we'd give this one a try. He loves scary stuff, and of course monsters... and blood because he is a li...more

I thought the characters were nice. Their personalities were cute. As far as the story line, I felt reminded of the first book, #1 Welcome To Dead House, because like that one there is a dog in this one too. And the dog's activities are mentioned throughout the book. Basically, there's this monster blood in a can that Andrea and Evan pick up at a very run down and poorly kept papa shop. First it's not for sale and then the owner gives in and sells the can for $2. Throughout the story, the monste...more

I thought that the book was pretty awesome because it had a lot of action words that described the moment of the scene. It was also kind of a mystery book because I was wondering where would the store clerk get the monster blood from? Also, I was wondering how was the monster blood consistently growing in fast? The book was also kind of scary because you never know what will happen next. When the monster blood tried to eat Evan, it was a very urgent situation. While staying with his aunt Kathry...more

Monster Blood and Nickelodeon Gak. Inextricably linked in my mind and heart forever. It doesn't help that for some reason I felt compelled to put Gak on my dog sometime right before I read this book for the first time.

A spare book which I read as a breather from normal length novels, Monster Blood has no room for error. The faster the monster blood grew the less scary it got. Did I say scary? I meant more goofy. There's the usual trickery of imaginations, only here it's in the shape of dreams instead of shadows' foreshadowing. All first three Goosebumps books have now received 3 star. I'll be satisfied if this quality does not decrease in forthcoming books in the series. And odds are, in over 60 books there...more

The book I am reviewing is Goosebumps Monster Blood by R.L Stines. It is a science fiction book. My thinking about the books theme is you should not buy anything which you don’t know about because it might cause you a lot of trouble.

The book starts with Evans mom and dad left him in his Aunt Kathryn’s house for a few days until his mom and dad weren’t back from Atlanta. Evan was in the house and saw that there were no video games, TV, or a computer. Then Evan went outside just to hang around and...more

Aunt Katheryn seems to be a bit shifty. Of course, she is supposed the be. Evan is all kinds of paranoid since she appeared with that bloody knife. He's in a strange place, with a strange woman--who can't hear a thing. I envy her a bit. My job doesn't afford me the luxury of being able to ignore what people say. How wonderful it must be to not have to hear other people's bullshite. Alas, I could not live without music. Not for very long at least.

Having to stay at his Great Aunt's house, Evan and his new friend Andy find something called Monster Blood.
But the problem is well, they noticed it's growing. Andy and Evan ponder what to do and if they should tell Evan's aunt or not.
Plus what's with that cat that's roaming around the house?
Even though it's not the best in the series so far, it's still an alright book.
