I picked up this book when we were vacationing near Asheville, North Carolina, last summer; it was in a small independent bookstore with a collection of books authored by people who live in that area. This story actually takes place in Jamestowne (as it was spelled then), Virginia, in the early 1600's.

Our heroine Katherine, well-born and well-educated, is drugged, put on a ship to America, and sold as a "bride" to a Jamestowne plantation owner. Of course, said plantation owner, Peyton Montgomer
