THis book was so fast paced and filled with terror and grife. The main character Grubbs (that's his nickname) stroked with images of how his father, mother and sister Gred was killed entered the door of “hell”. The demons, Vein and Artery, chased after Grubbs and tried to rip him apart like what they did to Grubbs' family. Wailing with fear, Grubbs was bought into a research center where the doctors and polices were trying to find out who killed Grubbs' mom, dad and sis. When Grubbs told the...more

After reading some of Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak books but stopped because of other things that came up (not saying that the Cirque Du Freak books are not good) when I saw that he was starting a new series about Demons, I was interested on what the series had to offer (I am more into demons than vampires). The first book in the Demonata series has more suspense than the Cirque Du Freak books. It tells the story of an adolescent who witnesses the bloody murders of his parents and older sister....more

OH MY GOD. This book scared the crap out of me, but I couldn't put it down. It's so vivid, it's like reading a really good comic book. There's never any doubt as to what's going on or what it looks like, which is both good and bad, as the first event in the book is the grisly deaths of the main character's entire family. There's one point at which a demon is using the main character's sister's skin as a puppet... ICK!ICK!ICK! But you definitely want the kid to win, and you want the bad guys to l...more

This amazing thriller leads you to grisly glory and hideous horror! When one picks it up, it is impossible to put down. If you've read some books of Shan, you should be able to except the gross delights. But the point is, if you didn't, brace youselves to get eletricuted with sheer fear and holy terror!!!

These pages in the book follow the warning at the back. WARNING: SERIOUSLY SCARY. It is true and shouldn't be ignored.

The fabulous book is about a boy called Grubbs Grady who came home...more

This book is the first of the series of the Deomonatas. In this story, a boy who hates his sister and much of his family for how they treat him will soon learn to love them much after a horrifying experience with the demon. Grubbs's parents and his sister was killed by Lord Loss and his familiars who protected Grubbs and shielded him from the demons. The officials who investigated this incident did not believe Grubb's story until he was taken in by the one and only uncle who seemed to believe Gr...more

Damn -- I am so hooked on this series! I started it with the 4th book, and I'm going back for the previous three. So far, the books could stand alone, which is cool, and they're not published in chronological order.

Three things the book has going for it: werewolves, demons, and the mention of zombies -- albeit nontraditional, but zombies nonetheless.

I am such a freak that I actually went out at 9 this morning to go get book 2, Demon Thief, from the library I DON'T WORK AT -- I started m...more

I liked this book because it has many sides to it: Horror, humor and suspense. It also used good vocabulary. This book was also from of my favourite authors Darren Shan. The book is about a boy called Grusbsitch Grady (he hates his name) his sister is under the spell of lycanthropy turning into a werewolf. She is transformed by a gene that effects most of the Gradys. The only demon capable of turning back the spell is The demon lord: Lord Loss, hence the name. But he will only do it if while fe...more

This book was about a fat kid who has an autosomal dominant trait in his family that turns the family member into a werewolf. Grubbs' family is chess addicted and he wonders why, until one night when he returns home to see his parents and sister dead. It appeared that demons beat them in Chess and they had to forfeit their lives. Grubbs escaped to live with his uncle. However, he had a brother too who was also turning. Grubbs goes through a change from a wuss to a courageous kid struggling ...more

This is a book that came close to giving me nightmares. Darren Shan is most definitely the king of gross and horror in the young adult world. Forget Stephen King- Darren Shan is the new horror writer.
This book had me addicted. As of late, I have been having a fall out with books, only reading ones that didn't bore me the first chapter in. However, this book kept me going the whole time. It's filled with mystery, horror, and even a hinting at some romance later on in the series. This book is di...more

this book is about a person who is driven in to the world of demons. his family was in business with the demons for centuries and generations. one day he came into his parent's room, he found his parents and sister being devoured by demons and later joined his uncle in the journey to slay all the demons.

What i learned from this book is that always cherish the moment with someone that is special to you. either your family, friends or girl/boyfriend, spend time with them like it is the last ti...more

This is a really interesting book about a boy and a world full of demons. It is by Darren Shan, who is also known as THE MASTER OF HORROR from his previous series, "Circe De Freak." The book is about a boy who's family is slaughtered by a demon lord called Lord Loss. Using his unknown magic potential, he escapes from the clutches of the vengeful demon lord and begins to live with his uncle Devirish. There he learns the insane history of his family line and finds his long lost brother. ...more

Surpisingly, I enhoyed this book. I reccomened this to people who don't mind disturbing and gross images. This book creates a vast world filled with demons and chess. The protagonist in this book Grubbs has lost his parents to a demon after losing a game of chess. After he witness their death he ends up going down a journey where he learns about his whole family heritage. Filled with twists and turns this book is never boring. Even if you don't think you would be interested in a fantasy book lik...more

This book is filled with dark and evil. I enjoyed this book. It starts out with the death of Grubbs' parents and sister by demons, which Grubbs witnesses. Grubbs deals with his family's death and the fact that no one believes him about the demons. For the next few months, maybe even a year, Grubbs stays with his uncle. He learns of his family and his past. This book was amazing and full of magic and family. I recommend this book to everyone, even though it may seem dark and evil, as you continue,...more

In this book, there are many gruesome parts and it starts out with a boy who hates his family like most teenagers do but after going on a journey he regrets ever hating them. His family gets killed by Lord Loss who is head of all the other demons. Grubbs himself has to overcome his nightmares and this is where the creepy parts come. This is a novel that evokes the gruesome parts in full detail starting from the arrival of Lord Loss. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't gets grossed out easily.
