This series is SO addictive. It's going to be hard waiting for volume 10 to come out around November 2011 :( We finally have all three boys getting aligned with their dreams and passion for basketball. Togawa started us off strong from the beginning of the series with his drive to succeed with wheelchair basketball. Poor Nomiya, with his bad luck but good spirit, has been stumbling through his daily life...that is, until just recently in the series when he finally found his drive to become a pro ...more

This volume continues the storylines of Takahashi and Nomiya.

Takahashi's hierarchical understanding of the world is being broken down. He used to be the top of the food chain but while he struggles to do one lift/transfer, Hanasaki can do five! Before they became paraplegics, Takahashi definitely would have looked down upon Hanasaki has a loser. Meanwhile, Takahashi's new roommate, Shiratori, a former pro-wrestler, can't even do one. It's a good portrayal for how, in the end, hierarchies don't

Takehiko Inoue (井上雄彦) is a Japanese manga artist, best known for the basketball manga Slam Dunk, which has become a success both in Japan and overseas. Many of his works are about basketball, Inoue himself being a huge fan of the sport, and many Japanese children started to play basketball because they read the manga. This in turn helped make basketball popular in Japan and across East Asia.
