Even the most strongly defended heart is no match for the conquest of love.
I enjoyed this novel. The heroine, Sarah, is delightfully well rounded. Quiet and practical with a soft heart, Sarah suffers with a troubling birthmark that has set her apart in society. Gideon North suffers with the lingering effects of his service in the Peninsular War and the disfiguring injuries he acquired there. His injuries give...more

I have enjoyed just about everything Samantha Kane has written, but this one has got to be one of her best. Kane writes M/M/F erotic romance featuring veterans of the Napoleonic wars. Her heroes endured the war by bonding, sometimes sexually, with another soldier.
In this book (seventh in the series), Gideon and Charles have settled in England to raise horses together. Charles saved Gideon's life on the battlefield, but Gideon was terribly scarred in body, Charles in mind. Their one ...more

Love’s Fortress, book 7 in Samantha Kane's Brothers in Arms series, was deep. Gideon lost part of his leg in the war and he’s burned on his face and arm. So his requirement in a wife is someone who can look past the scars and no one has been able to – until his neighbors set up a meeting with Sarah, a reverend’s daughter. You see, aside from the fact that Sarah knows how to run a household and raise children (she’s the eldest of a bunch), she has a birthmark on her face and that makes her singul...more
Love this series. This was a great addition, all the characters were well written and the storyline flowed perfectly. I am intrigued by romance stories with characters that have a disability or affliction of some sort. Gideon has lost part of his leg in the war and is ashamed of it. He needs a wife but thinks that no one can love him the way that he is now. Sarah has lived her life away from society because of a birthmark on her face. She is fine with it but she knows that society and most o...more
The latest in the Brothers in Arms series and every bit as good as the preceeding six novels. Perhaps this is just a bit harder to read because, while all the men in these stories are victims of the brutality and horrow of the Napoleonic War, the two men in this story not only have brought home inner wounds that don't seem to be able to heal, one of the men also has extensive external wounds that have come close to breaking his spirit. As in all these novels this is essentially a menage relati...more
I am impressed with the way Samantha Kane appears to write about exactly the same thing in each of these books (you need to suspend belief that menage a trois are so prevalent and there are plenty of winsome girls ready to fall into such arrangements) and yet they can be very different. This was an unusual romance in that the 'hero' is disabled (besides the obligatory scars he has lost a leg). It was so refreshing to have someone disabled portrayed as not just sexually active but virile and se...more
Another great book by Samantha Kane. I know I am reading these out of order but they all can be read as stand alone stories.
This is the story of one woman who brings realization to two difficult men of their love for each other. She heals them and makes the triad complete.
One a suffering soldier that lost his leg and what he thinks as his life in the war and the other man who has stayed by his side through it all and would give anything for his love.
It is very tou...more

I enjoyed this installment of Brother in Arms. Gideon wanted a wife but he was sure he'd lose Charles after that happened. Charles was the reason he'd survived the war and been able to start to a life of his own. Sarah agreed to marriage to Gideon because she recognized that he would except her for who she was inside and not how she looked. She realized there was a connection between Charles and Gideon and even though she didn't understand what it was she wanted them to continue it. Would they b...more

Samantha Kane never disappoints me. I stayed up way too late to finish Love's Fortress. The thing that I liked best about this book (other than the HOT sex) is that the characters weren't physically perfect. That's rare in erotica/romantica.

I write regency-set historical erotic romance for Ellora's Cave. I have a top-selling series called Brothers In Arms about a group of Napleonic War veterans.
