Ghost Town at Sundown is a book about a brother and sister that have a magic tree house that can travel any place in time. They decide to travel to Rattle Snake Flats in 1895 and end up helping a cowboy get his horse back. This story gives children a chance for imagination and adventure. The author gives great details which allow the reader to feel that they are actually there. This book is good for children from 2nd to 4th grade. If a child reads one book in the series, they are sure to want to

Ghost Town at Sundown is the second of the four riddles and the tenth book in the Magic Tree House series. In this one, Jack and Annie go back to a ghost town in search of the answer the riddle.
While there they are frightened by a ghost, threatened by horse thieves and befriended by a wrangler of wild mustangs. Jack and Annie learn how to ride horses and Annie once again shows her talent at talking with animals.

Jack and his little sister Annie are two regular kids from Frog Creek, Pennsylvania... until they discover a mysterious tree house full of all sorts of books. From that point on their lives will never be the same again! They soon go on amazing adventures (plus children are learning bits of history and most don't realize it) as they travel through time with the help of the magic tree house. The chapters are short with pictures every few pages, making these books perfect for the beginning reader.

My generic review for the Magic Tree House books -
We've loved them all so far. They are fun, easy to read and contain quite a bit of historical information. We use them as read-alouds, but most elementary/middle school kids could read them on their own.
It does have a touch of 'girl power' at the expense of making the brother seem a little dumb. That kinda bugs. But it's not obvious and my boys haven't noticed. They think Jack is just as cool as his sister.

I originally wanted to read this for many reasons.
1. My favorite show at the time was Magic School Bus, the episode where they went to a haunted house.
2. I loved the Wild West.
3. I loved Magic Tree House.
So I read the book expecting it to be all scary and haunted but I was disappointed. The book was still okay and fun, and it was the first time Jack and Annie find their mark in history in their own time. I still enjoyed it and I'm sure other kids w

The saga and success of The Magic Tree House continues! The tenth adventure, Ghost Town at Sundown, is filled with the excitement, action, and fun facts always found in Magic Tree House books.
Morgan le Fay has promised to make Jack and Annie masters of the tree house if they can solve four riddles. In Ghost Town at Sundown, the Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie back to a ghost town in the Wild West of the 1880s. Book #10 in the Magic Tree House series and #2 in a mini-series of 4 that send Annie and Jack on a quest to become Master Librarians. We are reading through this series very quickly, along with a few of the supplementary research guides. Our girls just adore Jack and Annie and they look forward to reading a chapter or two (or three) every night.
This story was fun; I'm not a huge fan of westerns, but our girls loved the horses, the Red River Valley song, and they even guessed the More...

My 4 yo and I are enjoying these short early chapter books. There is just enough adventure and danger to make a good story he can follow, as well as enough for me to enjoy. The bonus is these are "edutainment," so we both learn a few new facts. My son seems to be confused when there are ghosts in these MTH books, he enjoys the story but ask about the ghosts every time. Horse-loving young reader may enjoy this story.

Lots of good facts in this one, the kids are well on their way to becoming Master Librarians. I enjoyed the mustangs the most, of course. It was cute that the kids got cowboy nicknames, Smiley and Shorty. Annie's seemed most appropriate. I love the classic time travel paradox at the end. And that as usual, the kids appreciate the pleasures of being home after their adventure.

Another fun ramble with Jack and Annie, this time in the Wild West. I enjoy the element of a riddle that is answered in the same book that drives the adventure. I enjoy Mary Pope Osborne's dips in history, and this is another fine example.

I like it because the ghost town is scary and dark. Even in the afternoon, the sun is still orange. Jack and Annie were scare because the paino can play by itself. Morgan told them to find out a person and actually the person is an echo. A cowboy help them find it out, Morgan's friend Slim helped them.

The tenth book in the Magic Tree House series. This one is set in the Wild West! My son loved the rustlers and my daughter loved that it had horses in it. Short chapters, easy vocabulary, fun to read-aloud but I am sure my first grader could read most of it herself if she wanted to do so.

Reading through the Magic Treehouse Series with my boys. They rated this a firm four, mostly because they were disappointed they guessed the riddle at the beginning of the book. They loved the ghost and the surprise author of the Wild West Book.

This is a riveting story of a boy and a girl going on an adventure in their magic tree house to all kinds of different places. This one takes place in a haunted desert ghost town. There are fun clues that are resolved at the end.

I'm obviously too old for these books, [I'm 16] but they're like a guilty pleasure. I'm rating it three stars because they are basic and repetitive. However, they're great books for little kids!

They found a horse and they were trying to take care of it. They found a cowboy and he brought the horse into the forest with him. They drank and slept in the forest and Jack took notes.

Mary Pope Osborne is nothing if not prolific. She is a great writer with a great gig. Good for her. Kids love these books and there is always something refreshing to learn in each one.

Library.
I liked that there was a ghost and I liked that Jack's question, "What am I?" echoed and came back saying, "I am."

My favorite part in the book was when the piano just started playing by itself. But all in all I liked the book.

Miles is reading this one to me! His first chapter book.
Whew! Bit by bit, we finally got through it. He resisted reading every time we started, but once we got going, he did great. We read one chapter at a time, will try to read 2 at a sitting soon.

My favorite part was when Jack and Annie figured out that the book they had was written by Slim Cooley.
