“If I might offer you a piece of advice?” Colin said, munching on his walnut.
“You might not,” Anthony replied. He looked up. Colin was chewing with his mouth open. As this had been strictly forbidden while growing up in their household, Anthony could only deduce that Colin was displaying such poor manners only to make more noise. “Close your damned mouth,” he muttered.

This was the first Julia Quinn book I ever read (even though it's the second in the series), and it is still my favorite. I need to buy it (and the rest of the series)... I read it like 4 or 5 times now...
The thing I LOVE about this book is that it is just SO FUNNY. Don't read it in public unless you want people to look at you like you're crazy. It's laugh-out-loud funny. The hero and heroine... OH GEEZ! They're HILARIOUS! They bicker and argue and... they l More...

Overall it’s good but I didn’t really like Anthony all that much –he was too “hot” or “bossy” or something at times, can’t quite put my finger on it. I liked Kate and I felt sorry for her, but I thought she could have had more inner strength especially towards Anthony. There are a few scenes where you get teary eyed because of some very strong emotions that surface. Lady Whistledown is a riot yet again!
The story itself is very well-written with a lot of fun smiling moments. Coul More...

What a wonderful second book in the Bridgerton Series! I really enjoyed reading it and I´m soo looking forward to read the next books. Although my joy with this book was somewhat clouded - the ridiculous business with the bee was a bit exaggerated but the rest was just entertaining, funny and gave me some cheerful hours!

5 Stars...woop woop!!! Don't you just love this ladies writing?! I have almost come to the end of the line for Quinn books, there's only a few left that I haven't read. I loved, loved, loved Anthony and Kate's story ladies, and I really love the expect the unexpected love stories. I would recommend this book to anyone with a guilty pleasure of a good old fashion love story.
Oh yeah...Don't skip the "Authors Note" at the end (page 353). Quinn gives you a definite ending that More...

I really enjoyed this book too (altho the scene in Anthony's study was agony for me and got so angry at him, lol!) In case you think the plot device is far-fetched, I actually knew someone who had a similar death-phobia to Anthony's! Thankfully, they made it past the age they were scared of as well. The bee-sting scene was so ridiculous/ funny I coudn't help laughing out loud.

Anthony Bridgerton is the eldest of the family. When he was 18 his father died from a bee sting so Anthony took over as head of the family. His biggest fear is that he'd never live past the age of 38, the age his father died. Because of this he decides to finally find a bride but never fall in love with her. He decides to pursue the beautiful Edwina Sheffield but knows he must first gain approval from her sister, Kate. As Anthony gets closer to Kate he finds himself very attracted to her. One da

I loved this book and Anthony and Kate were so perfect for each other. They were wonderful! I love Quinn's humor. She has a way of making her characters come to life. All of the Bridgertons would be so much fun to hang out with. I love the scene where Kate sends Anthony's ball into the lake. He seems to be so riled at her for doing that to him but....his thoughts are saying, "Wow ...thats just what I would have done." He is in awe of her. He can't figure out how she keeps him s

I'm pretty sure the Bridgertons series is going to be my favorite of the year, and certainly one of my favorites ever -historical romance speaking- why, you ask? Well, because it's fun, entertaining, and ridiculously addictive! It doesn’t matter if the characters and the storylines are similar, or if I know how it will end - what keeps me going are those great scenes with the hero and heroine going at each other's throats, and Julia positively rocks writing them.

5 stars – Historical/Regency Romance
Although I didn't enjoy this quite as much as The Duke and I, it's a heartwarming, funny, and charming romance with an amusing H/H. I really disliked Anthony in The Duke And I, and I thought he was an overbearing, judgmental jerk most of the time. So I wasn't sure how I'd feel about him in this, and although he acted like an indignant ass towards Kate for a large part of the story and was still bossy towards his siblings, I understood his motivatio More...

I am aware that I should have gone to bed hours ago. I regret nothing.
I reallllly love this world, and the family, and the characters. I didn't like this one quite as much as I liked the first one, but I still loved it a lot.
KATIE, WATCH OUT. I'M COMING FOR YOU.

(Bridgertons,#2) Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, the bossy, arrogant, thinks-he-is-superior eldest Bridgerton sibling, one day spontaneously decides to marry and sets off to brand the season’s pick-of-the-litter. I shook my head several times at Anthony’s attitude, but eventually (thanks to Quinn’s talent for making you love even her most problematic characters) I warmed up to him. From the start, I liked Kate Sheffield and found her story very moving. Still love Lady Whistledown!

Having fallen in love with the Bridgerton family in the 1st book (and having discovered a new favorite author), I was reticent to read the 2nd book. What if the 1st book was a fluke?
But never fear, dear readers, this book is every bit as good as the 1st book. This story follows Anthony, the eldest of the Bridgertons. He & his 7 siblings are famous in Town. Each sibling's name begins with the next letter of the alphabet: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, an More...

First of all, I would just like to say that if you are searching for a book with villains, intrigue and depraved liaisons then this book is not the one for you. However, if you are looking for a true romance, in which two ordinary people (well as ordinary as you can be in Regency England) find each other against all odds and forge an extraordinary connection, then look no further!

I had a thoroughly good time reading this book and I was sorry when it ended. The plot is described in a dozen reviews, so I will not repeat it here. It's a fairly standard rake vs virgin, enemies to lovers kind of plot with some variations.
There are some truly funny scenes in this book and I laughed a few times and chuckled quite often. But Anthony and Kate both have shadows and fears they fight, fears that direct some of their actions and decisions. Kate's had me sobbing when the ro More...

The Viscount Who Loved Me is the second book of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series and follows the life of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton and Miss Katharine Sheffield. It is another great installment of the series. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, I was proven wrong. Julia Quinn is clearly a literary mastermind.
As with The Duke and I, I loved the plot and characters of The Viscount Who Loved Me. The Bridgerton family is, as always, loud, lively, and loving. All the Bridger More...

Being an avid historical romance reader (who can ever forget Judith McNaught's Without You?)for several years, I confess that I grew bored of the genre. Most of what I read seemed rather formulaic: handsome, titled rake/spy + attractive, gutsy female + mystery danger + fate = love and a happily ever after.
Not Quinn's 'The Viscount Who Loved Me'. It's a definite must-read for anyone looking for a breath of fresh air in a genre riddled with cliches and same old plotlines.

Anthony Bridgerton is the eldest boy in the Bridgerton clan and he's the man of the house. He's been the man of the house since his father died of a bee sting and he took their father's death the hardest out of all of the kids because he was the closest to his father. Edmund Bridgerton, father to the Bridgerton tribe was fairly young when he died, just 39 years old and from a bee sting of all things. Anthony has this strange thought that he's going to die young just like his father so he's decid

The Viscount Who Loved Me was a truly delightful read. In fact, I stayed up until 5 am to finish reading it. *g* Haven't done that in ages!
Anthony Bridgerton knows he's going to die young. He was only 18 when his father died at age 38, and he has a gut feeling that he's not going to live past his father's age. Now that he's 30, he only has a few years left and he decides to finally marry. This sets the ton atwitter because Anthony is quite the rake. But his past doesn't scare off the m More...

I could not put this one down. With The Duke and I, I wasn't too impressed, it was still a good, quick read but it didn't live up to my expectations. However with TVWLM I enjoyed it immensely.
There was both a friendship love and a romantic/passionate love, which is what I really need in my romance. I need the main characters to have both of those kinds of love for me to feel satisfied after reading.

Fun and enjoyable, even though I didn't like a few parts of the story.
It was fun seeing a relationship develop between Kate and Anthony. Kate disliked him from the start because he was a notorious rake. I enjoyed the clever bantering going on between the two of them. Eventually she learned Anthony's true nature and admirable qualities.
Because Anthony's father died early at age 38, Anthony feared that he too would die by age 38. In the Author's Note at the end of the b More...

I actually read this book a few years ago, but did not post a review for it. Considering I have reread it more times than I can count, I felt it deserved a review. In my humble opinion, TVWLM is the best of the Bridgerton series. The characters are funny, the familial relationships are realistic, and the story is just plain fun. Julia Quinn took what could have been a very hackneyed story line, and made it incredibly entertaining. There are several laugh out loud moments (Pall Mall, anyone?), an

After finishing this book I was completely happy! It just made me smile... I really wanted to give five stars, but I just couldn't because for the first half of the book Anthony drove me completely crazy! He was acting like such a JERK! Well, I guess he wasn't just acting...
To be honest I was about to stop reading the book and just fling it against the next wall, but another reviewer warned me about Anthony's horrible behavior, so reluctantly I kept reading.
