The wait is over. dig into the feast...
In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Student Claire Danvers has never been convinced, though-especially with the arrival of Mr. Bishop, an ancient, old-school vampire who cares nothing about harmony. What he wants from the town's living and its dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal bal...more

Ok. Let me begin with the negative stuff because I really want to be done with it asap and then go on about how amazing this book was.

We get such an awesome plot and characters, would it be too much to ask for some consistency in the world building too? At first, vampires needed an invitation to enter the Glass House. I get that. Then, the humans needed an invitation instead. I get that too. Now everybody’s strolling in and out like nobody’s business and it’s driving me nuts!

Also, I know that wr...more

This is the 4th book in a YA series written by Rachel Caine (she does the Weather Warden series as well).

This book has the same romantic tension between Claire and Shane- along with some sinister events happening in the town of Morganville.

Morganville is a town where vampires live freely among humans- with humans being kept (for lack of a better word) by various vampires. Some are good, most are bad, and all the humans are doing is trying to survive!

A fun installment that has quite a cliff-ha...more

"Will you swear?" And Myrnin said, shockingly "I will." And he proceeded to, a string of swear words that made Claire blink. He ended with, '-frothy fool-born apple-john! Cheater of vandals and defiler of dead dogs!" and did another twirl and a bow.

Well Feast of Fools, definitely isn't a filler book. Although slow in the middle, it was probably the best one yet! Do these just keep getting better? Hmm...interesting.

I loved every minute of this one. I think it's safe to say I love Myrnin more now,...more

Feast of Fools is the fourth installment of the Morganville Vampire Series, and it was a bit slower placed than the first three books. However, it did deliver an explosive ending with a signature series cliffhanger. I’ve become vested in the main characters of this series, which includes Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael. I like how their actions and loyalty toward each other remains consistent from book to book, and it was nice to see Shane begin to accept Michael as a vampire.

In this book, three...more

Rachel Caine has done it again. She starts FEAST OF FOOLS like she does the other books in the Morgenville Vampire series - right in the middle of the action which grabs you by the hair, yanks you in, and won’t let go until the story is over.

At the end of MIDNIGHT ALLEY, the foursome living in the Glass House gets some unexpected visitors in the form of Claire’s parents and (in Buffy the Vampire Slayer Speak) the Big Bad - Mr. Bishop A.K.A. Amelie’s “father.” With him in town there has to be tro...more

As these books continue, I find I am less and less concerned with what will happen to Morganville and its' inhabitants and more concerned with when Shane is going to break and finally "do" Claire. Not that I condone that sort of thing, but it's a book and seriously, there is only so much tension you can build in a book before it starts to get repetitive. So, my unauthorized and likely, unwanted, opinion is, let it happen or kill Shane off. Finally, the other beef I have is that the reader is lef...more

Emily has received Daddy vampire in town and as usual Claire and her entourage have been involved. This character Mr. Bishop arrives to town in unusual circumstances. He is accompanying Claire's parents whom -surprise!-are relocating to beautiful and peaceful Morganville. Emily is not happy about it, but nevertheless she plans a feast to celebrate Bishop's arrival so every vampire can pay their respects. Meanwhile Myrnin keeps in poor condition until Clare unites efforts with a doctor and achiev...more

I am now into book four. This book still finds Claire getting into trouble, always for noble reasons. She is only 16, and her heart at times is bigger than her brain. Then the shocking news that her parents are not only visiting, but have purchased a home in town.Once they are invited in for a chat, they introduce a Mr. Bishop , and friends. He just happens to be a very old and powerful vampire from the old school. The one where humans are more cattle like. He also happens to be the father, or...more

Problems never seem to end for Claire and her friends. Another evil arrives at their doorstep just as they were recovering from one. And Mr Bishop is an evil even Amelie and Oliver are afraid of. Amelie has asked them to stay out of this trouble but can they really when it comes searching for them. Meanwhile, Claire works with a human doctor on the crystals and he improves them significantly. To save her friends and all humans in Morganville, Claire might have to take a gamble and trust Myrnin t...more

The fact that these novels keep getting better as we progress through the series is a mark of how fantastic an author Rachel Caine is. A lot of authors can't quite manage to keep readers interested after three or four books, but the way Caine writes always makes you crave more - even on your second read through. Feast Of Fools was a stellar fourth book and I loved every minute of it. Though it does seem pretty slow in the middle, the climax is so fantastic and action-packed that you can't even r...more

Parintii lui Claire locuiesc in Morganv...more

This story starts out when Claire and her housemates are “taken hostage” by Mr. Bishop and his two associates. They want them to cook them breakfast. What Mr. Bishop really wants is to talk to his daughter, Amelie. Claire tries to get ahold of her, but eventually called on a “friend” Oliver to get ahold of Amelie for them before disastrous things happen.

Finally, Amelie comes over to talk with Mr. Bishop, who is also her father and Claire and her housemates are free to leave. They wonder why Mr....more

WAUW!
I love these books more and more and MORE! I am so happy that Rachel Caine has written so many books in this series. I still have, what?, 7 (almost 8) books left, wuuuhuu!! :-)
So, about this book: It is SOOO good! The suspense is high almost all the time. It begins with something exciting and ends with something exciting. These characters do not have time to cath their breath, and neither did I.
I just love, love, looooove Claire, Shane, Michael and Eve. I want to read about them all the ti...more

Fangs for the Fantasy
In the last book we were left with a cliffhanger. The Bishop, Amelie's father has come to town – and so has Claire's parents. The Bishop is dangerous, threatening and powerful...

And we open the book basically in the same situation. Big threatening bad guy and Claire's parents hanging round. And then we enter a holding pattern. I said the same thing about Midnight Alley and, sadly, I have to say it again, there's very little plot to review.

There are events. Claire spends a long time worrying abou...more

So far this is my favorite book in the series and here's why: 1. We get to see a lot more of Shane's vulnerability, and to what lengths he's willing to go to protect Claire (and Eve and Michael). 2. Claire really has to set her naivety aside and use that genius brain of hers to help save Morganville, both vampire and human alike. Eve, Michael, Shane and Claire have constantly demonstrated their loyalty to one another, but Claire is giving them all a lesson in loyalty to humanity. I love, love, L...more

Rachel Caine is the queen of the cliffhangers. I feel like every novel in this series ends with a cliffhanger. Instead of the conflict being resolved nicely, it is almost as if we're left in the middle of the book. It's impossible to stop reading this series because you never feel satisfied by the ending...you're always left wanting to know what happens next. It really is a brilliant way to hook readers, but at the same time I kind of want a ending and not have to wait until the next book to get...more

How the heck did I get sucked into the Morganville Vampires?? This is teenage, brainless vampire smut at it's finest. Seriously! I'll tell you how it happened to me.

It was such a mindless easy read...I flew through the the first book in a day. I must give credit to the author, Ms. Caine. She lead me into a clever trap at the endings of the first few books. I couldn't walk away without knowing what happened to these stupid, annoying teenagers in the Glass House. I went straight to my ipad Amazon...more

So, for some reason I keep reading the next book in the series, even though I havent been remotely satisfied since the beginning. Each book, so far, has been anti-climatic, lacking direction with vague plot lines. The characters are undeveloped and one-dimensional. And to this point, the author has offered us absolutely no description of the main character Claire!! What does she look like? It was referenced in book 4 that she has short hair. Huh, short hair, since when? Is she tall/short, eye co...more

When Amelie's father, The Bishop arrives, the already fragile peace in Morganville is strained to it's limit. Claire and her friends are told to stay out of it, but of course none of them can really help themselves. After they hear about a ball to "welcome" the Bishop, Claire realizes there is something sinister going on. With everyone trying to keep her safe, she is more determined than ever to find a way to the ball to protect the people, and possibly the vampires as well, that she cares about...more

This is Book four in the morganville series following Midnight Alley (Morganville Vampires). The book opens with a tense visit from Mr Bishop & his two cronies Francis & Yasandre. Claire is distressed over her parents safety, Yasandres sudden interest in Shane, Michaels eating habits, and the health of the madcap Myrnin, time is running out for him. Amelie is putting intolerable pressure on her & she feels powerless & goes from one crisis to another.

Wow I seem to be giving out Maura's Choice a lot. That's sort of funny, but really I haven't read any books so far that I haven't enjoy thoroughly. But if I have to give a 4 stars to any books in the Morganville Vampire Series, it would have to be Feast of Fools. Anyways for anyone who knows me, you'll know that my favorite book series of all time is Morganville Vampire Series. I just love all the action, sarcasm, and Rachel Caine's clever writing. What can I say the whole book series is fast pa...more

Spoilers for Book 1 (Glass Houses), Book 2 (Dead Girl's Dance) and Book 3 (Midnight Alley). I should also mention that Books 3 and 4 give really good accountings of what happened in previous volumes. Obviously not all the nuances, but you get the general idea so that you're not flying blind.

Oh Book 4. Usually, by now, I am a little sick of a book series (or heck even a tv series that's reached season 4). Creators will introduce new characters, kill off old characters, put the main character in s...more

With the way this book started out I didn't think if could end with a cliff hanger that was worse, but it did. With the new vistors in town you just know things are going to go to hell in a hand basket fast, and that is just what happened.

It is funny how when a bigger enemy comes to town those that were emenies band together. It was interesting to see this happen, especially to see the humans and vamps come together as a team.

Funny things from the book, Claire's reason for missing the test, cr...more

Feast of Fools continues the story of Claire Danvers and the Morganville vampires. In this installment, her parents have decided to move to Morganville (not something that most people do, but still!), and Amelie's "father", Mr. Bishop, shows up with them. Sinister characters abound in this fast-paced, thrilling showdown between the town's established vamps--with even power-tuggers coming together on the same side against the new threat--and the "visitors"...

The feast in question is a huge ball,...more

Feast of Fools starts off where Midnight Alley left off. The Glass house has been taken over by a vampire, Mr. Bishop, who claims to be Amelie's father. He has big plans for the humans and vampires of Morganville, and he, along with his evil cronies, will do whatever it takes to put them into motion. It all comes down to the masked ball where the vampires bring human dates. Who will pledge loyalty to Mr. Bishop, and who will stick with Amelie?

I really enjoy anything that Rachel Caine writes. All...more

Doch diesmal sind auch Claires Eltern in Gefahr die nun endlich die Wahrheit kennen und ihre Tochter natürlich beschützen wollen!!

Overall I liked the book but it isn't exactly my favorite in the series so far. Honestly the whole series is kinda going downhill, and this is only the fourth book! I hope it gets better.

Anyway the characters have serious issues. Claire clearly has no intrest in self-preservation, throwing herself into stupid, life threatening situations and then running to either Amelie or Richard or in some cases Oliver or some other poor vamp to get her out of it. And I though she was supposed to be the sweet...more

“I'm gonna kill him," Eve said, or at least that was what it sounded like filtered through the pillow.
Stake him right in the heart, shove garlic up his ass, and-and-"

And what?" (Michael)

When did you get home?" Claire demanded.

Apparently just in time to hear my funeral plans. I especially like the garlic up the ass. It's...different.”
