I tend to get deliciously lost in GGM's voice, with all its little stop-time asides and cosmic jokes, and "In Evil Hour" was a constant joy for that alone. It could just be that I'm getting more used to the tricks of magical realism, but the characters never seemed to enter the other-world that makes stuff like "The General in His Labyrinth" so special. Glad I read it, fersure.

I thought I loved Marquez, loved him so much, but apparently I only like two of his books (Love in the Time of Cholera and 100 Years of Solitude). Am very disappointed.

Was given this book as a gift a few years ago. Read it in my book club and I really enjoyed it. I love reading his other books and will continue doing so, I am sure.

villagers, fighters, conspirators, people who know a lot about the political history of colombia
Glorious chalk up of humanity. Even in English his turns of language are perfect! Read this if you liked Chronicle of a Death Foretold--it's better.
