Armchair travelers, teen chick lit fans
This was one of those books where I spent most of the time wanting to just shake the main character. I think that was the point, though.
High schooler Nicole doesn't want to spend a semester in France - she just wants to stay home with her friends and plan how she is going to follow her boyfriend Nate wherever he goes to college. In fact, although she is surrounded by Paris museums, yummy crepe stands, and cool new friends at her international school, she continues to pine for Nate a...more

Kind of fluffy even for something you know is going to be YA fluff, and the protagonist is unlikeable for a very long time. I started to sympathize with her and get into the story by the end, but then it started ramming the lesson down the reader's throat instead of revealing it in the characters. Of course, if the actual teen readers out there are anything like the protagonist, the sledgehammer approach is probably necessary!

Currently, I want to reach into this book and slap this girl. I was curious about the series and decided to read this one about a girl in Paris for a semester, because I have first hand knowledge about the topic. Still reading.

I guess I have just never been a fan of the self obsessed teenage girl genre. The main character whined and fretted so much about her boyfriend "Nate" that I could understand why her parents wanted to ship her off for a semester. As...more

Okay, the plot is okay and kinda cute but the main character is really dumb. Long story short, she's a grump, a crybaby, and a helpless loser. Sometimes I wonder why she's supposed to be really popular and have a bf.

Good book to read while bored or away from home, but not well written. I read the whole series but it is only really good for learning about cities in other countries.

A teen patron!
An empowering YA book about a girl who is sent to Paris for an exchange program, even though she wants to stay home with her boyfriend and friends. She learns that not all French people are rude, that French food is good, that the metro is manageable, etc. Along the way, she discovers that her boyfriend is not the end all be all and that she allows her friends to boss her around and define her. As an adult, I figured out where the book was headed pretty early on, but I would have gobbled it up a...more

This book is alittle disappointing, and didn't end up the way I wanted to. It isn't horrible though, so feel free to try it.

It was a good story, but I thought the author shouldn't have had the story like revolve around the main character's boyfriend.

Yes, I realize these books are basically brain candy. But I like my brain candy to at least be entertaining. Pardon My French wasn't very entertaining. I was more interested in the main characters new friends than in the character herself! Never a good sign. This author wrote a few other S.A.S.S. books that I have really enjoyed, so this was a disappointment. The plot was predictable, although I give the author props for not falling *exactly* in line at the end. Hence, the two stars instead of o...more

This S.A.S.S. book was not one of th best ones in the series. I thought the characters were a bit shallow and boring. The ending was a bit abrupt too. Its about seventeen-year old nicole who goes to paris on an internship---without her boyfriend Nate. Nicole feels lost without Nate. She's not sure she's capable of finding joie de vivre on her own, but with the help of some new friends—and a certain handsome Frenchman— Nicole might find Paris as sweet as a café au lait after all.

People who are feeling like a drama novel
THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SERIES!!!!! These books are awesome!!!! Although i like some more than others.... These are dramatic stories of teens going on exchange trips, and are quite interesting to see how some chose the trip and some just got forced by their parents. It is also REALLY cool to see how their personalities changed just through one 10 week vocation!

Nicole does NOT want to go to Paris, but her parents think it will "broaden her horizons," so here she is. She would rather be at home with her boyfriend, go to college with him, and have a home and kids. But as she adapts to her new classes and begins to make friends, her dreams may not be as clear cut as she thought.

This was an awesome book! Since I had been to Paris, I was reminded of all of the places I had been to there such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Musee de Orsay, and the Arc de Triomphe. I wish I was there eating crepes. YUM!
