Liked this better than Stormbreaker, because the involvement of a 14-year old spy seemed more credible, but perhaps it just took a second book? Alex Rider is coerced to masquerade as a hell child of a magnate to enter a prestigious school, where miscreants are re-educated. When two parents die under unusual circumstances, MI6 decides something is wrong there. Alex is sent to a mountaintop in Switzerland, where he is basically on his own to discover what is rotten there and uncovers a devious plo...more
This is the book that got me hooked on the Alex Rider series. Anthony Horrowitz was so clever in making up this story. How he made it sound realistic but I also think it was a bit science fiction-ish but I liked that about it. When a crazy scientist makes clones of himself and replaces sons of multimillionaires with them it sounds impossible right? But not for Anthony Horrowitz.
Mix James Bond Junior with a crazy brain-washed boardingschool in France. Add hilarious equipment and some crazy badass skills on snowboard, and then you'll have Point Blanc.
The first 150 pages was one big summary of the former book, Stormbreaker, which made me leaning to three stars. But in the end, Point Blanc was far better than Stormbreaker, because, unlike Stormbreaker, Point Blanc had a big kickass-escape-scene filled with action. I was all fired up, but this book made me hold my breath fo...more

This book is about a teenager named Alex Rider who works for MI6 as a teenage spy (this the 2nd of 6 books in a series). To give some background information Alex Rider was a normal kid but that was only because he did not know his father was a MI6 opprative (who was killed). He then does some investigating and eventually finds that his dad was a spy so MI6 puts him to work for them. In this particular book Alex is trying to get information on mysterious deaths which in turn lead Alex to going in...more
Anthony Horrowitz has done it again, he created another thrilling, suspenseful, action-packed book that was excellent. This time in the story Alex Rider is assigned a mission called "point blank." Two of the worlds most powerful men have died within days of each other and there may be a connection between the two men. Both had sent their sons to the Point Blank Academy. Alex Rider was sent there to see what was going on and uncover the suspicious activities of the academy. While there he discove...more

A teenager named Alex Rider gets locked in a correctional facility in the mountains because he drove a crane without permission and tore up his school. He finds out that instead of shaping the kids into better people they are making clones and sending the perfect versions of the children to their parents. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a great action filled story.

I generally liked this book. I thought the back story was one of the best in the Alex Rider series. I had one main issue that caused me to give this book such a low score.
At the very end of the book, Alex needs to escape down the mountain. All the skis are locked up, so instead he ties a ironing board to his feet and snowboards down the double black diamond slope while being chased by jet skis.
Wow. Just wow. I have snowboarded and I can tell you this is complete BS. Firstly, snowboarding wasn't...more

Alex Rider gets recruited once again to go undercover in a Swiss boarding school to investigate some strange happenings with the rich students that go there. Alex is on his own and he has no way of escape if things go wrong. The boarding school is on top of the Alps and is completely cut off from the rest of the world. This book is a fast-paced page turner, it is a classic spy story. Alex has tons of spy gadjets, and he is an expert in fighting and weapons. The plot is kind of weak and basic, it...more
When I read the book Point Blank, and many of the other books of the Alex Rider series, it got me hooked instantly. I was having trouble picking out books that kept me interested in them enough to finish them. Alex Rider is about a teen age spy who grew up with his uncle. His dad and uncle were spies too. His father was killed at a young age, and he lived with his uncle for most of his child hood. Alex always struggled with the realization that he would never be a normal kid. Something he alway...more
If there's one thing Horowitz knows how to do, it's suck me into the plot even as I might be rolling my eyes as some of the teenager-ish things that happen. He has a great sense of action and description and I like how all the engines of cars or snowmobiles are mentioned every time, even if I don't really care, myself.
This is a great, thrown-in-the-middle story and I found myself almost surprised by how quickly I flew through it.

This book is just as fantastic as it was the first dozen times I read it.
I still love Alex. He's unusually stoic, considering he's a fourteen-year-old boy, but he isn't two-dimensional. Not at all. He's increasingly well fleshed-out, which is hard to do when he doesn't seem to have the emotional range and behavior you would expect of a teenage boy.

What if you were whisked away from your ordinary life to become a secret agent? That’s exactly what happened to Alex in the first book of this series. Alex is an orphan. He lived with his uncle, Ian Rider, for most of his life. Ian was a member of Britain’s secret service, M16. He died on a mission, and M16 forced Alex to take over. Now M16 is suspicious of a finishing school for rich boys called Point Blanc. The school is run by Dr. Hugo Greif, South Africa’s former minister of science. The fa...more
Point Blanc, by Anthony Horowitz, is an action book that has a underwhelming plot to say the least. The story, which I found to be somewhat corny, is based around a evil scientist that clones multibillionaire's children and sends them back the clone in order to take over the world. With the use of his high tech spy gadgetry, the fourteen year old Alex Rider is the best suited operative for the mission. Many other books in the spy genre have employed a similar plot, and this book does not stand o...more
Alex Rider a spy at the age of fourteen, is not on his first mission but his second. This boy saved the world in his first mission called Stormbreaker. This boy’s uncle was Ian Rider and was killed when he got too close to the truth. Alex did not know it but all his life he was being trained by his own uncle to be a spy. Anthony Horowitz’s book Point Blank was intense and intriguing.

Point blank is a very well written book. It starts off with Alex Rider, a 14 year old school boy who happens to by a spy. He finished his his first mission from british intelligence, or M16, concerning new release of stormbreaker computers. He is now going to be sent behind enemy lines again as he will try to find clues about a school high in the mountains for rich families and bad kids. Two parents of kids who sent their children to the school recently died. The man, Mr. Roscoe had a nervous fe...more
I think this book was really good because it was again with a spy kid which is interesting to read about because sometimes i dream of having a life he has. In this book the author puts a very mysterious plot that gets revealed to me as i kept reader. Its fascinating at how like this whole story that goes from England to France and keeps me thinking and wanting to know what happens next. The story of having cloned kids and some evil genius trying to rule the whole world and then a hero alex rider...more

The book "Point Blank" is a thrilling exciting novel. From the moment you open he book from the time you close it there is action all around. Beware, homework wont be done or turned in until the time you close this book. I ended up reading it in two days, and I wasn't in any rush, but I couldn't get myself to put the book down. Overall I was more than happy about the book and enjoyed every page I turned. I would recommend this book to anyone but mainly guys.

Point Blank by Anthony Horowitz is the second book of the Alex Rider series. Alex Rider, the protagonist of the series, is back in action. He is sent to a school in the middle of nowhere (on top of a mountain) to investigate the things going on in that school. It isn't a normal school though, it is a school for troublesome rich teenagers whose parents own either the newspaper, diamond mines, electronics or food and parents who are politicians or emperors.

Point Blank by Anthony Horowitz is a great book for anyone in a mood for an action book.

My son read and loved all the Alex Rider books, so I have to like the books on that merit alone. Anything that get kids reading is good. (Well, probably not anything . . .but you know what I mean.)
I thought Horowitz did an exceptional job of many things--lots of action, cliff hanging chapter endings, creepy villains, and good use of gadgets. Alex comes up with some really creative solutions for escaping his enemies. So kudos for all of that.

The book I will be reviewing will be Point Blank and is by Anthony Horowitz. Just like the first book in the Alex Rider series, it is a great adventure and keeps you holding your breathe. This book takes place in the French Alps at an extremely successful private school that straightens out bossy teenagers that have crossed the line too far in order to be put in the school. Alex Rider is sent there to investigate a theory made by MI-6 that the school has something to do with the murders of the p...more

A very wealthy man, a billionaire, is murdered. It was supposed to look like an accident, but really there was all to much evidence that the secret service of MI6 needed to investigate. Alex rider is a 14 year old spy and had already done work for one year. He didn't intend on going on another spy mission until he got into some trouble with the cops. The secret service organization took him from the police station and briefed him. During this briefing he was given a new name and a new family he...more

Alex Rider is off again on a mission from MI6. This time is going to investigate a school for rich kids who have been kicked out of their old schools. He has to go under fake identity in fear that he will be discovered who he actually is. When he arrived all of the kids seemed weird in a way except for one kid who he became friends with. All of the kids were the same, but yet different and he couldn't figure out why. After a while he finds what he needs, but he looks death straight in the eyes...more
The Genre of this book is Suspense.
The Reason why I chose the genre of this book to be suspense is because multiple times throughout the book Alex comes very close to death. I got so excited to reading the book i was obsessed. I would read it every chance i got. Here is a summary to help you come familiar with the book.

Point Blank, the next book in the Alex Rider, is just as good as his first one, Storm Breaker. Alex Rider has been asked again to go on a mission, this time to a school in the mountains were juvenile kids suddenly become nice and respectful. Many people of the secret organization don’t believe that kids will suddenly become nice and the perfect child just after going to a boarding school. It just doesn’t make sense. So Alex gets sent to this School and is told to get the answer of what is going...more
