Emerson Ward, a freelance writer wants to marry his girlfriend Nell but she is not sure. She leaves to care for her sick mother, taking their daughter, Emily with her. Protagonist a whiny, self-centered,and in a "modern" destructive relationship. Got in the way of enjoyment.

I felt like this book was pretty difficult to read... a lot of characters introduced at the same time to the point where you don't know who's who. Pretty good ending though.
