Kate Everborne watches over a boy, Ladd, as part of work release from the prison. She had 2 months left on a 10-year sentence. As the boy’s mother runs across the play yard to get to them, a man comes out of nowhere and kills her right in front of Kate and Ladd, and then flashes away. The mother whispers her dying wishes into Kate’s ear to take Ladd to his father. His father is one of The Roman Brothers. Kate will have to risk her freedom to take the boy to him. This is how she meets Nicholas.

I could not put this book down. There is so much going on, many different feelings, characters, and tangents to assimilate. It’s quite tasty to read, actually. There is more revealed concerning the larger evil at large in the vampire world and more character analysis into our vampire council, The Order. Nicholas is a much more complex individual than Alex was, and his past is more tainted. It shapes whom he is and how he reacts to the woman who presents him with a child claiming to be an heir. I loved the depths and emotions of Nicholas. I also liked the different portrayals of the women in this novel. Sara’s new roles as well as a Dillon’s performance were both refreshing. I saw the evolution of Kate’s feelings in the novel towards Nicholas a natural progression and very smooth. Lucien’s attitude and character attributes were also more natural here. The plot threads that lead out from him to our third novel had my heart accelerating. The developments surrounding Gray were tantalizing since this will round out what Laura seems to be trying to express about class inequality in the vampire society.

What was everyone fighting for: freedom. Nicholas cannot get free of his past or this image of himself. Nicholas needs the freedom to love. Kate needs physical freedom and emotional freedom. The Impures need the freedom to have equality. Gray needs the freedom to choose his own path. Lucien needs the freedom of his fate, to be The Breeding Male. This book had intrigue and was fast paced, and was great with character development. It built on the solid foundation of book 1, “Eternal Hunger”, and it is a sure bet as far as recommendations are concerned.

If you enjoyed the early years of the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, then you'll easily get sucked into this story. It's almost shocking how similar the tales are, but regardless, this book was entertaining and intense. I enjoyed the heat between Kate & Nicholas the most, but also liked their competitive & silly banter throughout the book as well. Ladd was a delightful addition to the overall characters and really added a lot of sentimental value to many of Nicholas's actions. If you're looking for a hot story with lots of dark adventures, Eternal Kiss won't let you down. Now I'm on to reading Book #1 and Book #3, coming out early next year.

Likes: Kate's joyful experiences of pop-corn and movies were cute since they were so new & exciting for her.

Dislikes: Just like the BDB series, there were parts I just skipped over because they bored me -- thus I skipped lots of Ethan Dare's story.(less)

This is the second book in the "Mark of the Vampire" series. I didn't fall in love with the first book but it had a cliffhanger that I wanted to have resolved. Ms. Wright has created an interesting world for her vampires. She even provides a glossary of terms to describe them in their various roles and states of being. Therein lies the problem for me. She even provides a glossary of terms to describe them in their various roles and states of being. Therein lies the problem for me. It's a little too much going on.

We have purebloods which are vamps born of two purebloods. We have compounds that they live on called Credentis. The communities are conservative and the vamps eat grains and dried fruit along with a small ration of blood. They are ruled by the Eternal Order which are ancient vamps that have passed from this world but haven't gone to their final destination or death or something like it. There are also the Impure who are a mix of vampire and human. They are born but I think some are made too...it's a little confusing.

The story centers around three brothers (yes the three cursed brother plot device is in use). The eldest is Alexander. His story was told in the first book. Now we have the middle brother, Nicholas and this is his story. Lucian is the youngest and his book comes out in 2012 sometime. The brothers are sons of a Breeding Male. This is a bad thing. They are despised for being the offspring of rape by a Breeding Male in heat. Breeding Males were created by some wacked out vamp science to increase the number of vamp children through forced breeding years ago in vamp history. The forced breeding has stopped and it appears most of the male born of this experiment have been killed. Not sure about that one. There is plenty of confusion when it comes to how the vamps mature as well as the true mate thing. Males, or at least the brothers, morp into breeding males at a certain age or if it is forced on them by the Order. When it happens, they can no longer go out into the sun. I am not clear on the heartbeat thing, it seems they don't have one but I think the impures might. Confusing.

Nicholas has a tragic past having been raised in prostutionn by his mom. He meets Kate, a female Pure Blood, who is on parole from vampire prison. She brings him the child of a murdered Pureblood and informs him it's his son. The story focuses on Nicholas's attraction to Kate and the secrets they both hold back from one another. The boys parentage is a mystery. The bad guy, Ethan Dare, is back with his mayhem. I felt sorry for him in this book because he is really pathetic. The brothers must hunt down Ethan and bring him to justice before the Order morps baby brother ahead of schedule. Of course, there is much they could learn from Ethan if they kept him alive but that's just me. Someone is feeding Ethan powers he should not have as an impure.

I loved the humor and steaming sex in this book but the plot was a little to messy for my taste or patience. I will say that there are times when it feels like Black Dagger Brotherhood in it's complexity and character development, that's a good thing. I just can't get into the techique Ms. Wright uses to deliver her story -- she cuts corners on intel when she should not. She assumes that her vamp world makes sense, it doesn't and I read this stuff daily. "Eternal Kiss" wraps up the cliffhanger so I am done. If you enjoy complex society and decent worldbuilding in your romance, you may really find heaven here. Good luck with that. (less)

I enjoyed this book far more than the first book in the series!

I really like Laura Wright's world and from someone who reads vampire romances a lot, in my opinion she has managed to make her world rich, intriguing and slightly unique! Ok the terminology and the different names for things is slightly confusing at first, but as I read this one following straight on from the first one I didn't have too much trouble! There is no glossary at the start of the book though which might help some people.

Ok, so this one is about Nicholas Roman, the middle Roman brother. He has a horrible history. See, there's this vampire drug and Nicholas' mother was addicted to it back in France in the 1800's or something. She was a whore and the drugs made her sicker and sicker. Nicholas became a whore to get the money so he could pay for the drugs his mom wanted/needed. He's eventually rescued by Lucian (the youngest brother) and Nicholas feels shamed and guilty and feels like he really owes his brothers.

Then we meet Kate Everborne. She is living in a "credenti" (vampire community) in Vermont. We don't know much about her when we first meet her but we learn more about her as the book goes on. We know that she was in prison (vampire prison, doncha know!) and she's serving her "probation" working at a school in this community. She's waiting for a mom to come pick up her son. As mom approaches, a man jumps out of nowhere and slits the mom's throat. He turns and heads for the kid but Kate steps in front of him. The bad guy sees he's going to have a hard time getting to the kid so he just smiles and disappears. As the mom is dying, she begs Kate to find the boy's dad and to protect the boy. And can you guess who she says the boy's dad is? Yep! Nicholas Roman!!!! So Kate snags the boy before anyone can get there and goes to the Romans', which is where she and Nicholas meet for the first time.

There's LOTS more to the book but I just wanted to give you an intro. I really liked this book. It was pretty exciting and wraps up a couple of stories from the first book. We see resolution with Grey, Kate's brother from book one and we also get a little resolution with Dane (the bad guy). I though the sex scenes were less hot in this book BUT the love story was phenomenal. They both have painful, painful pasts and struggle to overcome them. They struggle to trust each other as well. The addition of a kid to the story did not hurt the story at all. He was in it very little and his connection with Kate was great and sweet.

Overall, I doubt I'd need to read this again but I really enjoyed it. I would certainly recommend this book, this series and I will read this author again!! (less)

It's been so long since I read book 1 Eternal Hunger that I had a hard time keeping up at first. The problem with audiobooks is I don't have that handy vocabulary guide to help me out. Once I caught on to the lingo though this book was non stop twist, turns, action and hot steamyness! (The song Meeting in the Ladies Room has forever changed for me) It's a wonder smoke alarms and sprinklers were not going off when Nicholas and Kate are together. This second installment in the Mark of the Vampire series focuses on Nicolas, another son of the Breeding Male who has been forced into early maturity by the order. Like his brother Alexander, he has led a tortured life. Only this time, we see the effects of his misery. In fact, it colors almost everything he says and does.

Nicolas' mother was a drug addict and a whore, who pimped her son out at a very early age. So not only did he endure the stigma of his father, but he lived in shame... forced into acts no child should endure... until he was rescued by his brother Lucian. Now, he seems to live a normal life, but he has never really let go of the dark side of his life. He considers himself dirty and unworthy and still debases himself behind his brothers' backs.

Shortly after his forced maturation, Nicolas is approached by a woman, claiming to have rescued his son from the man who killed the boy's mother. Nicolas is skeptical about the boy's parentage and Kate's motives. But she sacrificed a lot to save the child, running away from her last two months of parole to deliver the boy. Now Kate and Nicolas are thrown together to track down the Impure who killed the child's mother, before the Order forces Lucian to become the next Breeding Male.

It was a great romance, with two characters who are both so broken and flawed. The sexual tension and payoff are explosive. Learning about Nicolas' history is heartbreaking, but that just makes things so much more gratifying when he finally finds love. (I do wish we would have gotten a little more insight into why he was still leading his second life, however, rather than having us draw our own conclusions.)

More is revealed in the ongoing arc surrounding the Impure revolution and the power behind it. We learn more about Gray (a favorite of mine from the last book) and his journey toward a real life and --hopefully-- love with Dillon. And there's a great ending, clearly setting up a story for Lucian and Bronwyn. But despite the side plots, I felt like our main couple and their relationship got the attention they needed. I felt much more invested in them than I did with Alex and Sara.

A couple of other tidbits: I'm glad this book had a glossary... It needed one! But there is still frequent use of the "c-word" --which I guess is just a word the author likes and I'm going to have to get over it. Overall, though, a big improvement & a solid installment in the series. Can't wait to get started on Lucian's book. A little more than 4 stars.(less)

Adored this book. Yes it still has the elements in it that the first book had and I didn't like. But there was so much more to this second book. My heart just broke for both Nicholas and Kate. Their pasts were both filled with things that no child should experience. They're both such strong kick ass characters with a heap of vulnerability underneath. But they don't let that wear them down. Wow what a great continuation of this series. When i bought these books i assumed it would be just another vampire series, but boy was i wrong. Ms. Wright has a fresh take on so many of the key parts of PRN--vampirisim, mating, supernatural powers and more.

Second book and it definitely lives up with the first! As with the first book, even though I am starting to feel cynical about vampires, feeling they are cliche, this book wipes that thought and feeling clear away.

For readers who likes a tortured hero. Nicholas is for them. Now his "scars" may not be outward but inward. Which are the cruelest and hardest scars to deal with. Kate, the heroine, is no stranger to tragedy herself.

OMGOODNESS! This one has so much going on but this is a good thing. The way the stories/plot unfolds and how they are all connected is just awesome.. I could not put this book down.

Except I am missing one thing.. In the beginning. It doesn't make sense to me why or how Mariebelle was mistaken for the target.. Unless I'm missing something. Just went right over my head.... Nevermind I just figured it out. LOL

The Roman brothers have done it again! Great Read!! I absolutely loved Nicholas' story! Wow. After reading Eternal Hunger and loving it I really didn't think the next book in the series could possibly be as good. I was wrong. Eternal Kiss was incredible from beginning to end. Started it this morning and just couldn't put it down. The character development is great. Not only are the Roman brothers incredibly hot but they make kick ass reluctant heroes. I have a mixed review of the second installment in the Roman brothers series.

I love paranormal romance. I absolutely love paranormal romance with a mystery. This book should have been great. It had a good mix of it all. The romance part was too sappy. I guess a hooker and a prisoner thinking in terms of flowering romance was a bit much. The surprise twists saved this book for me. Or it could just be that my love of mystery has overcome my fling with a romance novel.

I was not sold on this series after Eternal Hunger, in fact it took me a very long time to get around to reading the second installment in the MOTV series. I didn't expect to be wowed by Eternal Kiss, but when I started reading it sucked me in and wouldn't let me go. I really thought Laura Wright did an amazing job with this installment, and it actually made me immediately buy and read Eternal Blood & Eternal Captive. I enjoyed this book much more than the first, I found "Eternal Hunger" hard to get into. I admit I am a bit of a vampire series junkie, so you have to do something different to spark my interest, or very traditional with a great story!

That Nicholas Roman was a beautiful, interesting character, it was obvious from the beginning of the series, what it wasn't so clear to me was the fact that he's also particularly freaking hot and so damn I-wanna-do-bad-things-with-you. Like the 1st book this one was just as good. Nicolas was one hot Vamp with his true mate Kate. The saga of the 'Impure' and the 'Purebloods' continues with Order trying to control the fate of both. It's a pretty good story and I really looking forward to the next book Eternal Captive which isn't release til early next year. Eternal Kiss is Kate and Nicholas’s book and while my favourite Roman brother is Luca, I found that I did enjoy this book! Nicholas is a tortured hero almost as much as Kate is a tortured heroine. Nevertheless, there are a lot of great things about Nicholas! My favourite thing though, is the fact that he is so loyal to his family. His willingness to sacrifice himself for the benefit of others...WOW! Makes me want to sink my nails into that one! Rawr! *claws the air*

As you may already know, I LOVE LOVE LOVED Sara from the first book, so Kate has some tough competition. There are few heroines out there that can top her and for me, Kate Everborne didn’t win the prize. She has problems with trust from the beginning, and though understandable, I wished she was more accepting of Nick. I love a strong heroine, but in order for a romance to work, she has got to let the hero in. However, she shares most of Nick's traits, and she will do anything for others, and constantly sacrifices herself and her freedom to do what's right and protect the ones she loves.

Speaking of tortured heroes we have to mention Gray and his internal struggles, that drives him to drinking and having random sex with total strangers and gets himself in lots of trouble. I'm hoping he can find some peace and acceptance soon!

I also have to mention Dare who I think is the sexiest thing alive! What can I say? I enjoy reading about the bad guys and Ms. Wright writes them well! There are a few twists and turns that took me by surprise. Won't give out any spoilers, just know that things aren't always as they seem. You pulled a fast one on me, Laura and I enjoyed the ride!

I was glued to the pages for Lucas bits in this book. There's a situation (no, won't tell you what it is) that I'm dying to figure out how he'll overcome in his book so he can be with Brownyn. But now, here’s the thing...I have to WAIT FOR LUCA’S BOOK UNTIL NEXT YEAR! *sobs* I don’t think I can handle this. Eternal Captive, here I come...I’m the heroine, right? Right?

Oh Nicholas, how I love thee? I am absolutely obsessed with this series. Alex's book was a great debut and this sequel was even better. I couldn't put this book down. It was such a rush, a very sexy rush. If you are a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, you will be a fan of the Roman brothers.

I love that this book really gave us more backstory. I felt like we missed some of that from the first one...more

I fell in love with the Roman brothers in the first novel of the Mark of the Vampire series, Eternal Hunger but this novel, Eternal Kiss, just blew me away! Nicholas Roman’s story is dark, deep, dangerous and enthralling – I could not put it down! He has a lurid past and a shocking secret that could destroy the life he’s built with his brothers and his developing relationship with Kate if it’s ever revealed.

I have to admit that I was drawn to Nicky from the start, in the first novel he was the gentlemen of the brothers but you could tell that there was a tortured soul underneath his calm veneer and in Eternal Kiss author Laura Wright masterfully peels away the multiple layers in his character, drawing you deeper and deeper into him until there is no turning back. Honestly, he is one of my favorite heroes out there. Everything I look for in one, he has! Loyal, sexy, self-sacrificing, fierce, strong, smart, brave, loving…I can keep going and going…
He is paired with the perfect heroine for him, Kate Everborne. I rarely find a series where I love all the heroines but so far we’re two for two here. Kate is smart, courageous, strong and witty; the ultimate heroine. The relationship between these two could not of been better written. Both Nicky and Kate have major baggage and trust issues but the intense sexual tension is the biggest shining point, and it leads to a scorching climax for these two. Scorching people.
But they weren’t the only characters in this book; there were subplots involving others that just enhance the story and invest you further into this world. The dialogue between the brothers themselves is humorous, sarcastic and entertaining; some of my favorite scenes are with all three of them.

Every scene is well thought out, detailed and descriptive; immersing the reader fully into the story line.
I loved the fact that Wright provided a glossary for this novel, the word that she has created is interesting and unique but it always helps to have a page you could turn to if you forget what a new word or term used in the story means.

Nail biting twists and turns, fantastical suspense, relentless action and fiery romance this is a paranormal romance that you cannot pass up! There was also a fabulous set up for the next book in the series, Eternal Captive, which I am just dying for!

So I do like this series, and this installment was a little better than the first one. The dialogue is sometimes painfully corny in a bad action film kind of way, but I can see the humor and banter that the author was portraying there.

Kate is a Pureblood female, called a Veana, who has spent the last 10 years in a vampire prison for a crime she did not commit. While on last few months of her prison term, she was working in a Credenti, a vampire community, at a local school for young kids. While Kate was waiting with a small boy, Ladd, whose mother was running late, a horrible murder occurs. Ladd's mother showed up to get him but Dare flashed in behind her and slit her throat right in front of Kate and Ladd. Dare flashed away leaving Kate with the boy and his dying mother, who told Kate about the boys father. Kate escapes the Credenti to take Ladd to Nicholas who she was told was his father. Nicholas meets Kate thinking he is meeting someone else, his feelings for her are almost instant but he fights them knowing that she would never want a whore for a mate. I feel like I have already given so much of this story away so I am going to leave it with this- I LOVED this book, I just wanted to crawl right into the pages and hold Nicky, cuddle Nicky, rock Nicky, stroke his hair and to whisper too him that he is not dirty and he deserves love- true love, someone that will love him for him and not for what he felt he had to do in the past. There are so many twist and turns in this book that it held my attention so much I didn't want to put it down to go to sleep or even to go to work. Ohh and the snippet we get of Lucian and his story makes me wish it was 2012 already!!(less)
